Chapter 18 - Scamming Money

"I can, but why did you suddenly think of asking me to cook?" Andrew still didn't understand and looked at the other person with confusion.

"Didn't you say you could cook? I just want to taste it. I've washed your clothes twice, so you cooking a meal for me seems reasonable, right?" Scarlett had actually grown tired of the cafeteria food and takeout long ago. Except for the food in Cafeteria Three, which barely suited her palate, she didn't want to eat anything else.

Now that she knew Andrew could cook, and the noodles he made last time were delicious, she wanted to try his skills.

"Reasonable, reasonable." Andrew nodded. If Scarlett said it was reasonable, then it was reasonable.

The two then drove directly to the supermarket. Andrew pushed a shopping cart while Scarlett walked beside him.

She was wearing a short-sleeved shirt today, covered by a white sun-protective jacket, and loose sweatpants on the bottom.

This very ordinary casual outfit still exuded a unique charm on Scarlett.

As the two walked through the supermarket, they constantly drew stares.

One man kept looking at Scarlett and wasn't watching where he was going, resulting in him walking straight into a pillar, which left even Andrew speechless.

It was a good thing they were in the supermarket; if they were on the road, he might have been looking so much he'd crash into something major.

Arriving at the fresh food section, Andrew asked Scarlett, "Teacher, what do you want to eat?"

"I don't know."

"..."

Scarlett truly didn't know. She couldn't cook, and when she usually went to the school cafeteria, she just ordered whatever she saw.

But Andrew didn't know either. He suffered from decision paralysis; when he cooked at home before, it was always Catherine who said what she wanted to eat, and then he would buy those ingredients.

"If you say 'I don't know,' then I don't know how to cook it either!" Andrew said half-jokingly.

Scarlett shot him a cold glance upon hearing that, making Andrew immediately drop his playful demeanor.

Little brat, actually daring to mock me, Scarlett thought to herself. Then she took out her phone, searched for a few dishes, and showed them to Andrew, "Just these."

"All of them?"

"Yes."

"This is four dishes and one soup. There are only two of us; we can't finish it all."

"If we can't finish it, we'll put it in the fridge. There's plenty of space in the fridge."

Scarlett clearly didn't want to give up on any of these five dishes.

This meant hardship for Andrew, who would be busy in the kitchen later.

Andrew sighed and began purchasing ingredients according to the menu.

"Only buying this few pieces of ribs? Is that enough to eat?" Scarlett saw Andrew only pick a few pieces and, thinking it was too little, added some more.

But Andrew felt it was too much, "It's enough. If we can't finish it, reheating it later won't taste good."

"Not enough, listen to me. I'm paying anyway, so it's not your money being wasted."

"Alright then."

Andrew had nothing more to say and let Scarlett decide how much to buy.

After purchasing the ingredients, Scarlett noticed there was still plenty of space in the shopping cart and bought many other snacks and frozen foods, all of which were quite expensive.

In the end, the cart was completely piled high before they went to check out.

In her words, since they came all this way, she wanted to buy everything.

When they finally checked out, Andrew saw the total was over two thousand, and his eyes widened.

Going to the supermarket once cost over two hundred bucks, she was truly a rich woman.

Back inside, Andrew immediately started preparing dinner, while Scarlett stood by to help him.

However, she mostly just watched, as Andrew didn't ask her to do much.

Watching Andrew skillfully chop vegetables, stir-fry, and add seasonings, Scarlett felt that cooking wasn't that hard; she could completely try making it herself.

Maybe I'll try it myself next time? Scarlett thought to herself.

An hour later, Andrew placed the four dishes and one soup that Scarlett requested on the dining table. The presentation was no less impressive than the pictures online.

However, Andrew didn't have a large appetite; one plate of rice and dal, plus some side dishes, was enough to fill him up.

He initially thought a lot would be left over tonight, but only halfway through the meal, when he reached for another piece of rib, he discovered only the soup remained, and even the potato vegetable was gone.

He turned to look and saw that the other dishes were also more than half gone.

He looked at Scarlett and saw that the white rice in her plate was long empty. She was currently lowering her head, eating the last piece of rib.

As if sensing Andrew's gaze, Scarlett's moving lips paused. She kept her head down and didn't move, like a hamster caught stealing food.

After hesitating for a moment, Scarlett moved her small mouth again. After swallowing the food in her mouth, she looked up.

"I won't eat the rest; you can have it."

Andrew heard this and repeatedly shook his head, "No, no, no. If you're not full, keep eating. I'm almost full."

"You're full already?" Scarlett looked at Andrew doubtfully; she felt like he hadn't eaten much at all.

"Yes, I don't have a big appetite."

Scarlett heard this and initially wanted to say something, but ultimately didn't speak.

Since Andrew said he was full himself, the rest belonged to her.

Then, under Andrew's astonished gaze, he watched Scarlett sweep up all the remaining food.

Scarlett's eating manner was still quite elegant. She didn't put much food in her mouth at a time, but she ate very quickly. Andrew even felt like she swallowed after only chewing once or twice.

What surprised him most was Scarlett's appetite, and despite eating so much, she wasn't fat at all.

To be precise, her waist wasn't thick, and the parts that should have curves were still very full.

Scarlett voluntarily took on the task of washing dishes after dinner, while Andrew took a shower and returned to his room.

Knowing that Scarlett wasn't scary, Andrew gradually felt more at ease living there, and he felt it was definitely much better than the school dormitory.

Ethan and the others' dorm was a six-person room converted from a four-person room, it was extremely cramped.

After lying down for a while, just as Andrew was thinking about playing some games, he received a call from his Older Sister, Catherine.

"Little Drew! Quick! I need an emergency favor!"

"What?"

Andrew didn't know what kind of nonsense his Older Sister was pulling now.

"A friend borrowed money from me and hasn't returned it, and now they seem to have gone silent. I was originally going to check the transfer records and call the police, but I accidentally clicked on KFC and realized today is Thursday. Quick, send me 50."

"..."

Andrew initially thought Catherine had been scammed out of money, but when he read to the end, he realized she was trying to scam him.

"No money. If you want to eat, go buy it yourself."

"Oh, Little Drew, I've already used up most of my living expenses. Just treat me to one meal, okay?"

"I need my living expenses too. If I treat you to Crazy Thursday, should I just go drink the northwest wind?"

"How could that be? Aren't you living with our mom's student, Professor Scarlett, right now? She won't let you starve to death."

"No way, I wouldn't dare use Professor Scarlett's money."

"Oh, Little Drew~~~"

Andrew originally intended to firmly refuse, but he couldn't stand Catherine's persistent nagging, coupled with the torment of her cutesy, sickly-sweet voice, and finally gave in.

"Fine, fine, fine, I'll give it to you already."

"Hehe, thanks, Little Drew." Catherine thanked him in her girlish voice, coquettishly, making Andrew's skin crawl.

"By the way, you've been in Blackthorn for so long, when are you coming to see your Older Sister?"

"Next week, maybe, after military training ends."

"Eww~ always procrastinating. Don't tell me you've fallen for Professor Scarlett, always wanting to stay by her side and having no time to visit your Older Sister."
