Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: The Heart of a Celestial Wizard

Chapter 15: The Heart of a Celestial Wizard

The standoff at the broken bridge was tense. On one side, a furious dark guild, betrayed and cornered. On our side, a team of exhausted but determined wizards. In the middle, a fifty-foot chasm of empty air.

"So close!" Natsu growled, slamming his fist into the ground. "They're right there! If I could just fly..." He glared at Happy, who wisely hid behind Erza's leg.

"There's no time to find another way around," Erza said, her eyes scanning the canyon. "Erigor is still moving. Every second we waste here is a second he gets closer to the guild masters."

While the others strategized, Lucy stood apart, her shoulders slumped. She felt a familiar, bitter wave of uselessness wash over her. During the chase, Gray had been the shield. Erza and Mew had been the engine. Natsu was now ready to be the sword. And what had she done? She had hidden inside a clock. She clutched her keys, the cold metal feeling more like a burden than a source of power.

I floated over to her, sensing the storm of self-doubt clouding her spirit. I know this feeling, I thought, my mind drifting back to my own first moments in this world, overwhelmed and uncertain. She's comparing her magic to theirs, foot-pound for foot-pound, and finding herself wanting. But that's not the measure of a Fairy Tail wizard. Her strength isn't in explosions or unbreakable shields. It's in her heart, in the love she has for her spirits. She just needs someone to see that.

I gently nudged her hand with my head, trying to convey a sense of comfort. She looked up, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.

I sent the thought directly into her mind, soft and clear.

Lucy gasped, her eyes widening. She looked at me, truly looked at me, not as a strange magical creature, but as a friend. A small, watery smile touched her lips. The thought didn't solve the problem of the chasm, but it mended something inside her. It was a simple acknowledgment: I see you. You belong here.

That small spark of confidence was all she needed. Her eyes lit up with a new idea.

"Wait a minute... a chasm... a hole..." she muttered to herself. "I have a spirit for that!" She beamed, her entire demeanor changing from defeated to determined. "I can get us across!"

She stepped forward, pulling out a golden key. "Everyone, stand back!"

"What are you doing, Lucy?" Gray asked.

"Just trust me!" she said, a newfound confidence in her voice. She held the key high. "Open, Gate of the Maiden! VIRGO!"

With a shimmer of golden light, a woman with pink hair, chains on her wrists, and a maid outfit appeared, bowing deeply. "You called, Princess? Is it time for my punishment?"

"No, Virgo!" Lucy said, blushing but not losing focus. "I need you to dig a tunnel! Under the canyon, to the other side!"

Virgo bowed again. "As you wish." She turned to the canyon wall and began to dig with her bare hands, disappearing into the rock with surprising speed.

A few moments later, she reappeared. "The rock is exceptionally dense here, Princess. It will take some time."

"We don't have time!" Erza stated grimly.

This is it, I thought. This is my role. Not to do it for her, but to do it with her. To be the support that allows her own unique magic to shine.

"I can help," I projected to the group. I flew into the newly-dug hole, following Virgo. I caught up to her in the darkness and floated just ahead.

I sent to her.

My eyes began to glow with pink psychic energy. I focused on the dense rock wall in front of us. I didn't vaporize it; I simply used my telekinesis to create a network of micro-fractures, vibrating the stone until its structural integrity was compromised. The rock that had been as hard as iron became as soft as packed sand.

Virgo's eyes widened as her next attempt to dig met with almost no resistance. She tore through the softened rock at an incredible speed. We became a two-person tunneling machine: I weakened the earth, and she cleared it away. It was a perfect symphony of psychic power and celestial magic.

Back at the entrance, the team could hear the muffled sounds of our work, and a steady stream of dirt and rock came flying out of the hole. In less than a minute, Virgo reappeared at their feet.

"The path is ready, Princess," she said with a bow.

We emerged on the other side, right behind the stunned members of Eisenwald. They spun around, their jaws dropping in disbelief.

"How did you-?!" one of them stammered.

He was cut off by a roar of pure, unadulterated joy.

"MY TURN!" Natsu screamed, leaping out of the tunnel. He had been waiting for this moment, a coiled spring of fiery energy. "FIRE DRAGON'S BRILLIANT FLAME!"

He unleashed a massive fireball that engulfed a huge portion of the dark guild, sending them flying. The remaining members, shocked and disorganized, were no match for the rest of the team. Erza, with a flash of steel, and Gray, with a flurry of ice lances, quickly and efficiently finished the job.

Within minutes, the entire Eisenwald guild lay defeated.

Lucy stood beside me, breathing heavily but with a look of immense pride on her face. We had done it. Together.

Erza walked over to the now-cowering Kageyama. "It's over," she said. "But Erigor is still out there with Lullaby." She knelt down, her expression deadly serious. "Tell me. Where was he going?"
