Chapter 21: The Conductor of Destruction
The colossal demon Lullaby towered over the square, its mouth agape as the death song swelled. Panic erupted among the townsfolk, but the guild masters, led by Makarov, quickly formed a perimeter to get them to safety.
In the center of it all, my team stood ready, glowing with imparted power. But they were waiting. For what? For an order. For a plan.
And I will give them one.
My mind, now linked to theirs, became a command center.
My eyes flashed with intense blue light. "PSYCHIC!"
An immense telekinetic force, visible as a shimmering blue aura, slammed into Lullaby. It wasn't a blunt impact; it was a thousand invisible hands grabbing, twisting, and binding. The demon's wooden limbs creaked and groaned under the strain. Its mouth, just about to unleash the deadly melody, was forced shut with a loud CLACK. The song was stalled.
Erza and Gray didn't hesitate. "ICE-MAKE: LANCE!" Gray roared, thrusting his hands forward. A volley of super-dense, pink-tinged lances of ice shot out, embedding themselves deep into Lullaby's ankles. "HEAVEN'S WHEEL: BLUMENBLATT!" Erza commanded. Her swords rained down in a spiraling vortex of steel, shredding the wood around the demon's knees.
Lullaby roared in fury, its legs buckling under the combined assault.
"OPEN, GATE OF THE GOLDEN BULL! TAURUS!" Lucy chanted. The giant minotaur appeared, his massive axe gleaming. "I've got a MOO-ssive craving for firewood!" he bellowed, charging in alongside Erza and Gray.
The demon was pinned, but its wood was unnaturally tough, already starting to regenerate. It thrashed against my psychic bonds, and I could feel my hold slipping. We needed more power. More fire.
I soared into the air, my body glowing like a miniature star. "SUNNY DAY!"
A wave of energy shot from my body, dispersing the clouds. The sun overhead intensified dramatically, bathing the entire square in brilliant, warm light. Natsu, a creature of fire, felt the effect instantly.
"Whoa! I'm feelin' fired up!" he yelled, his magenta-tinged flames erupting with renewed vigor.
Lullaby, enraged, finally broke my psychic hold. It swung a colossal fist the size of a house, aiming to obliterate Gray and Taurus.
A shimmering, transparent wall of light materialized in front of them. Lullaby's fist slammed into the barrier, which buckled but held, deflecting the catastrophic blow. The shockwave alone sent debris flying for hundreds of feet.
The team was safe, but the demon was now fully focused on us. It was too strong, too big. We needed to be faster.
"TAILWIND!"
A swirling green gust of wind erupted from my body, enveloping my friends. To them, it felt like the world was slowing down. They moved with a newfound, impossible speed.
I shot towards Natsu, my paws glowing with crackling white energy. "HELPING HAND!" I poured the last of my direct support into him.
Natsu's power went supernova. The sheer heat coming off him warped the air. He was no longer just a wizard using fire; he was fire.
"I've got a fire in my belly!" he screamed, his voice a thunderous roar.
He inhaled, drawing in all the heat from the Sunny Day, all the power from my Helping Hand. Gray and Erza, moving with the speed of the Tailwind, leaped back, clearing the field.
"FIRE DRAGON'S... BRILLIANT FLAME!"
It wasn't the stream of fire he'd used before. This was a condensed, focused sun. A massive sphere of pure, white-hot magenta flame shot forward and struck Lullaby dead in the chest.
There was no explosion. Just a silent, all-consuming light. The demon Lullaby didn't even have time to scream. Its wood turned to ash, then to nothing. The light faded, leaving only a clear, sunny sky.
The silence was broken by Natsu, who fell to one knee, panting. "Now that... was a feast."
It was over. We had won. And I knew, looking at the stunned faces of the guild masters and the exhausted, triumphant smiles of my friends, that nothing would ever be the same.
