One afternoon, the sky turned dark. Big clouds slowly covered the sun.
Grandma looked up and said, "Something is coming."
Soon, thunder roared and heavy rain began to fall.
At first, Peggy and her friends enjoyed it. Peggy laughed and twirled around. Pumpkin rolled in the mud, and Kichy jumped happily.
But the rain became stronger and stronger. Water started filling the garden.
"The carrots!" cried Carrot. "We are drowning!"
The small plants were getting covered in water.
"Everyone, move to higher ground!" Grandma said quickly.
Peggy thought for a moment and made a plan.
"Kichy, help carry the small ones!""Pumpkin, block the water from that side!"
Kichy ran fast, carrying the tiny plants one by one. Pumpkin rolled into place and stopped the strong flow of water. Peggy picked up a big leaf and used it like a boat to move the smallest ones.
They worked together without stopping.
After a long time, the rain finally slowed down and then stopped.
The garden was wet and messy, but everyone was safe.
All of them took a deep breath and smiled.
Just then, Kichy pointed toward the edge of the garden.
"Peggy… look there."
Near a muddy patch, something was slowly moving.
It was a small snail, stuck and struggling.
"I… I can't move…" the snail said weakly.
One of the Cabbage Girls said, "It's not from our garden."
"Yes," said another, "we have already done enough."
Peggy looked at the snail. It was covered in mud and looked very scared.
"If we leave it, it will die," Peggy said softly.
"But it's not one of us," said Carrot.
Peggy gently shook her head.
"Today, we were in trouble too," she said. "And we needed help."
She carefully picked up the snail and placed it on a dry leaf.
Kichy brought a little water. Pumpkin moved slightly to give it shelter.
After some time, the snail slowly lifted its head.
"Thank you…" it said. "You saved me."
Peggy smiled. "You're safe now."
The snail looked around sadly. "The rain destroyed my home."
Everyone became quiet.
Peggy looked at her friends and then said, "You can stay here with us."
Grandma smiled proudly.
That night, the garden felt peaceful.
Peggy looked at the sky and then at her friends.
"A strong world is not just about saving ourselves," she said softly.
"It is about helping others too."
And under the cool night sky, their little world became kinder and bigger.
