The juniors and other work staff all watched on, some murmuring and whispering under their breath.
Ashley's eyes roamed all the watchful eyes, she memorized every face.
Soon they reached the exit, waiting for them was a black pristine Limo.
"You like what you see, it's a Japanese model, custom made for comfort and travel." Ashley bragged on.
"Wow, I've never really been in a limo before actually."
He responded as his gaze was focused on the limo.
His eyes widened as he took in the interior and exterior.
Ashley shook her head slightly, marveling at the child-like wonder in Andy's eyes.
"Well, that's understandable really. Anyway, what do you like, Mr Matthews?" She asked him.
Andy thought about it for a moment, then he spoke. "Well nothing too big, maybe some pancakes, yeah those sound nice right now."
He told her as he stepped into the Limo, the door closing behind him automatically.
Ashley chuckled as she entered the passengers side.
"Ugh, men who barely have any taste are quite fascinating but alright, I'll humor you." She uttered.
The driver started the engine and let it heat up a bit. Ashley looked back and asked Andy where he wanted to go.
"Oh ummm.... there is this great diner by the corner of the road, we could go there." He stated, his legs swaying back and forth.
"Okay, driver take us to the place he is talking about." Ashley tells her driver.
The ride to the cafe is short but memorable for Andy, his excitement is completely etched on his face.
Ashley on the other hand is on her phone, scrolling through various emails and appointments she postponed.
They reach an old run down cafe called The Riverside Sweets, which is ironic because it's not even near a river.
Andy was the first one to exit the limo, he stood in front of the cafe, waiting for Ashley to follow him.
"Wow, this is the place you decided to bring me to...." Ashley stated.
Her words carried the same tone she would have during morning briefing, cold and uninterested.
Andy didn't care really, he was too happy to let Ashley ruin this for him.
"Come on, don't be a grump, I assure you that you'll enjoy yourself. Trust me!." Andy stated.
"Alright, but if I'm not satisfied, I'm docking your pay for the month."
Ashley stated as she pushed her sunglasses up the bridge of her nose.
Andy laughed a little at this. "Nice joke Ms Ashley." He stated, but didn't acknowledge it, she simply smiled and walked past him.
"You were joking right, Ms Ashley?" Andy asked nervously, Ashley simply opened the door and gestured to him to walk through.
"After you, Mr Matthews." She told him with a smile that made him flinch. But he took her offer and stepped in.
The interior of the cafe was simple but classy in a comforting way. Andy made his way to the main counter.
There a dark skinned woman was the first to greet him.
"Well, well if it isn't Andy Matthews , haven't seen you in months. So what are you having?"
She asked her tone welcoming and friendly, a clear sign that she was close to him.
"I'll be having my usual, you and.....Ms Ashley what will you get?" He asked her.
Ashley took off her sunglasses and stared at the menu screen above, she squinted her eyes a little.
"Hold on, let me just get my glasses." She stated as she reached into her jacket to pull out a pair and reading glasses.
"I didn't know you needed glasses to see." Andy told her.
"Yeah, not a lot of people do actually, it's more of a personal thing for me." She uttered as she scrolled through the menu.
Andy wanted to ask why she didn't like people knowing but decided it was better if he didn't know.
"Umm. Most of your food looks average....Oh I'll have the four layer chicken and beef sandwich with booba tea."
She told the woman at the counter. The woman nodded as she passed the orders through a small window.
"Ruth, make it snappy, we have a regular here." She shouted towards the girl in the back.
"Umm yes Claire." Ruth stated as she immediately started preparing the food.
"As you wait, why don't we catch up a little you and me." Claire stated as she started talking to Andy.
Ashley made her way towards the table at the back of the cafe, her gaze lowered towards her phone as Andy and Claire talked.
After some time, Andy joined Ashley by the table, bringing with him a bowl of biscuits.
"Sorry to keep you waiting boss, it's just Claire hasn't seen me in a while so she was a bit excited."
He tells her as he bites down on a cookie.
"Oh it's fine. So why did you bring me here of all places, if you wanted to impress me then this isn't earning brownie points."
She stated as she took a bite out of a cookie.
"Oh no, I didn't really think of that, I just came here a while back really, it kinda means a lot to me." Andy stated.
Ashley gave a cheeky little smirk after hearing that.
"Oh, what did you use to bring a special someone here, well who was the lucky girl?"
She asked as she grabbed another cookie.
"Oh, I used to come here with my boyfriend alot." Andy stated, chewing slowly on a chunky cookie.
Ashley dropped her cookie upon this revelation, she blinked a few times as she wanted to make sure she heard him right.
"Excuse me, What?!."
