"Is what i would say if i actually decided to terminate your contract."
She added, leaning back into her chair.
Andy was barely able to breath properly, his eyes swelled up with unshed tears as he heard those words.
"Huh?" He asked, his tone low and slightly frightened.
"It's called a joke Mr Matthews, you're supposed to laugh."
Jade stated, her tone lighter than before.
"I don't think I can." Andy stated as he wiped away the tears.
Jade sighs slightly as she stretches her arms lazily.
"Mr Matthews, I called you today to discuss the terms of your employment."
"As stated in your contract, page 12 subsection (12), you are to complete all work handed or offered to you without fail."
"And today what do I find, that you've done absolutely nothing."
She states, tilting her head slightly to look at him.
Andy was shocked to hear this, he knew he had done 80% of what was given to him, it just didn't make sense to him.
"But ma'am I did all of the work as instructed, I even double checked everything before leaving this morning..."
he said, his hands shaking slightly.
"Well if the disaster in your office is what you 'done' then i think you may need to rethink your whole work flow."
She muttered, her gaze shifting to the takeaway in Andy's hand.
"Also hand over the food, I'm quite hungry myself since I've been waiting for you all this time." She told him.
Andy looked at the food then back at her, he slowly got up and placed it on the desk.
Jade didn't waste anytime at all, opening it with quickness that almost made this one-on-one briefing comical.
"Oh potato salad." She uttered.
"So that's what I wanted to tell you kid, (chewing sounds), I have great expectation f-for someone like you Mr Matthews."
"Which is why you are working under Ken from now on. He'll supervise your work routine and work schedule.. i-i trust you don't have any questions or concerns."
Jade uttered, her cheeks full of potato salads as she waited for Andy's reaction.
Andy felt his world sink slightly, he had worked hard in college.
Barely slept for days now, and now he has to be supervised by Ken of all people.
"Understood Ma'am, I'll do my best to not disappoint." He started gritting his teeth hard enough to hurt.
Jade simply nodded as she continued eating. "G-good, I'm glad we've come to an understanding. I hope to see you improve as we move forward.... Now get out of my office."
She told him as she turned away from him.
Andy got up and left the office, his hands clinched so hard they started to hurt.
When the door closed, Jade let out a sigh of relief. "Well, I just hope he can handle it."
She stated as she stared out the window.
Andy moved like a man lost in thought, his whole world had just been shattered and he could barely do anything about it.
Some of the employees noticed the change in his demeanor, most were concerned but some didn't bother asking what was wrong.
He made his way back to his department, moving through his juniors without a single word.
He made it to his office and slowly opened it, seeking the comfort of the one room that still belonged to him.
He flicked the light on and expected silence but what he found was none, all he found was Ken seated on his desk.
"Hello Mr Matthews, you look like you just received the worst news."
Ken uttered as he crossed one leg over the other.
Andy's eye twitched slightly upon seeing Ken, "oh you have to be shitting me right now."
He uttered loudly.
