Tuesday afternoon...
1 week into the job.
Andy was seated in his office, the lights were dimmed and the room was stuffy.
His gaze was locked on the computer until he decided to take a little break.
He stood up slowly, blinking a few times to adjust to the light. He pinched the bridge of his nose tightly.
He heard a knock on his door, "come in.", he responded.
Ashley entered the room, her eyes flickered across the room until finally landing on Andy. "Oh morning Andy, how has your shift been going?" She asked.
"It's tiring really, but a few more shifts and I should be done." He says, squinting his eyes.
He blinked a few times, trying to see Ashley clearly.
"Oh Ms Ashley, good morning or afternoon or evening.... i really cant tell anymore really." he replied, his eyes blinking slowly to accommodate the sudden lighting in the room.
"So do you need something from me?" he asked her.
Ashley smiled softly, she looked around the office, her gaze landing on the files and papers clattered around the room.
She shook her head once, then sat on his desk, " Andy, lets take a break, i wanna treat you to some breakfast, how does that sound?" she asked him, her tone soft and composed.
Andy thought it through, a break would be nice right now but he still had so much to do. "Okay, i guess a little break wouldnt hurt." he replied.
Ashley smiled, really smiled, and that scared Andy for a moment.
"Great, lets get going, oh and dont worry about the work, i've already told Ken to handle the rest while you're out."
She uttered.
Andy froze mid-step, his eyes darkened upon hearing Ken's name, he wanted to refuse and continue his work, but he knew better than to refuse his boss's request.
"Oh..... okay, then lets go."
He said as they both left the office. Andy covered his eyes at the office lights, his juniors looked at him, some with sad and worried expressions.
Andy paid them no mind, Ashley walked besides him then leaned away.
"you need a bath, really badly." she told him, pinching her nose.
Andy smelled himself and nodded, "I guess you're right." he replied as they stepped into a crowded elevator.
As the elevator descended, Andy was suddently quite aware of his surroundings and situation he was in.
He was walking with his boss out of the office for breakfast, sure it was a normal task but others might start leaning into it a bit to much.
"This might have been a mistake..." he thought but there was no going back from here.
The doors opened on the ground floor and they both stepped out in tandem. Andy tried to maintain a few steps between them.
But each time Ashley would just lean closer to him, she seemed to get used to his smell and was handling it well.
"So what do you want for breakfast Mr Matthews?." She asked him, her tone calm.
Andy flinched slightly as his brain processed her question. He thought for a bit before he spoke.
"Well, i like pancakes, so i guess i want some pancakes." He told her.
Ashley stepped infront of him and just stared with a wide smile that made Andy uncomfortable.
"Are you guessing or do you want pancakes? Please make up your mind." She stated.
Andy looked to the side and rubbed his neck slightly. "Okay, i want pancakes." He stated, his voice trembling slightly.
"Good boy." She stated as she turned and continued walking towards the exit.
"Did she just call me.....a good boy? He asked himself as he followed her.
