Chapter 35 - day 3

Chapter 32: Honeymoon – Day Three

The Wake-Up Call

Jay woke to lips on her neck.

Soft kisses trailing down her shoulder. Warm breath against her skin. Strong arms pulling her closer.

She smiled without opening her eyes. "You're awake early, Mr. Watson."

Keifer's voice was rough with sleep. "Couldn't help it. Woke up and you were there. Beautiful. Mine."

She turned in his arms. Faced him. Those storm-gray eyes were dark in the early morning light. Intense. Loving. Hungry.

"Yours," she agreed. "Always yours."

He kissed her. Deep. Slow. Thorough. She melted into him. Her fingers in his hair. His hands on her waist. The world outside forgotten.

They made love as the sun rose. Slow. Tender. Wrapped in each other. The light grew golden through the windows. The waves sang beneath them. The world was new.

---

Breakfast on the Water

Hours later, they finally emerged from bed. A floating breakfast was waiting on the deck. A wooden platform bobbing gently on the turquoise water. Fresh fruit. Pastries. Smoked salmon. Champagne. Coffee. Everything beautiful.

Jay stepped onto the platform. Sat cross-legged on the cushion. Water lapping at her ankles. "This is ridiculous. This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen."

Keifer joined her. "Ridiculously romantic?"

She laughed. "Ridiculously extra."

He poured her coffee. "That's me. Extra. All the way."

She took the cup. Breathed in the aroma. Looked out at the endless ocean. "I could get used to this."

He leaned over. Kissed her cheek. "Then we'll do it every day. Floating breakfast. Floating lunch. Floating dinner. We'll never leave the water."

She grinned. "Our skin would get pruney."

He examined his fingers. "Worth it."

She threw a grape at him. He caught it in his mouth. Grinned.

"Show-off."

"Always."

---

The Manta Rays

After breakfast, they took a boat out to a nearby reef. Known for manta rays. Gentle giants of the sea.

Jay sat at the edge of the boat, mask on, fins ready. "What if they don't come? What if we swim for hours and see nothing?"

Keifer sat beside her. "Then we see nothing. And it's still a perfect day. Because I'm with you."

She rolled her eyes. "You're disgustingly romantic today."

He grinned. "Every day. Get used to it."

They slipped into the water. Warm. Clear. Perfect.

And then they came.

Manta rays. Gliding through the water like shadows. Huge. Graceful. Effortless. Their wings rippling. Their bodies floating.

Jay grabbed Keifer's arm. Squeezed. Didn't speak. Didn't want to scare them.

They floated together. Watching. The rays circled them. Curious. Unafraid. One came close enough to touch. Jay reached out. Her hand hovered. The ray glided beneath it. Smooth. Soft. Magical.

She surfaced. Ripped off her mask. "Keifer. That was a manta ray. A real manta ray. It touched me. It touched me."

He surfaced beside her. Grinning. "I saw."

She threw her arms around him. "This is the best day. This is the best honeymoon. This is the best life."

He held her close. Water lapping around them. Sun warming their faces. "Best life, Mrs. Watson. Best life."

---

The Coral Garden

They explored the reef for hours. Coral in every color. Fish in every shape. Anemones waving in the current. Eels peeking from crevices.

Jay pointed at everything. Grabbed Keifer's arm a dozen times. Gasped behind her mask. Laughed when she swallowed seawater.

At one point, she found a clownfish. In an anemone. Exactly like Finding Nemo. She pointed. He looked. She made a face. He laughed. She splashed him. He pulled her close.

They kissed underwater. Bubbles rising around them. Fish darting away. The reef alive around them.

She surfaced. Breathless. "We kissed underwater."

He surfaced beside her. "We did."

"In the coral garden. With the fish watching."

He kissed her forehead. "Let them watch. Let the whole world watch. I'm kissing my wife. Best thing I've ever done."

She laughed. Splashed him again. "Cheesy."

"Honest."

---

The Picnic

They found a small island. Just sand and palm trees. A boat dropped them off. A cooler of food. A blanket. An umbrella. Privacy.

Jay lay on the blanket. Stared up at the palm fronds. "How did you find this place? How did you arrange all of this?"

Keifer lay beside her. "I have people."

She turned her head. "People?"

He shrugged. "People who arrange things. People who find private islands. People who make floating breakfasts appear."

She laughed. "I married a billionaire."

He grinned. "You married a man who loves you. The billionaire part is just extra."

She kissed his cheek. "The man who loves me part is the best part."

He pulled her close. "It is. It's everything."

---

The Swim

They swam in the shallows around the island. The water was so clear they could see every detail of the sandy bottom. Small fish darted around their ankles. Tiny crabs scuttled sideways.

Jay floated on her back. Eyes closed. Sun on her face. Water holding her up.

Keifer floated beside her. Holding her hand. Just being there.

"Jay?"

"Yeah?"

"Are you happy? Really happy? Deep down, soul-deep happy?"

She opened her eyes. Turned her head. Found him watching her.

"I'm more than happy, Keifer. I'm complete. I'm whole. I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be."

He squeezed her hand. "Good. That's all I ever wanted. For you to be happy. For you to be whole."

She smiled. "You did that. You and our family. You healed me. In every way."

He shook his head. "You healed yourself. I just loved you through it."

She swam to him. Wrapped her arms around him. Water lapping at their faces. "Then thank you for loving me through it. That's everything."

He kissed her. Salt on her lips. Sun on her skin. "Always, Mrs. Watson. Always."

---

The Message

They found a message in a bottle. Floating near the shore. Jay spotted it first.

"Keifer! Look!"

She swam to it. Grabbed it. Held it up. A glass bottle. Corked. A scroll inside.

He swam beside her. "Open it."

She pulled the cork. Slid out the scroll. Unrolled it. Her hands shook.

Jay,

You are the best thing that ever happened to me. Before you, I was empty. After you, I am full. Before you, I was alone. After you, I am home.

I love you, Mrs. Watson. Today. Tomorrow. Forever.

—Keifer

She stared at the paper. Tears streaming down her face. Happy tears. Always happy tears now.

"You wrote this," she whispered. "You put this in the ocean. For me to find."

He took her hand. "I put it in the ocean yesterday. While you were napping. I wanted you to find it. I wanted you to know. Even when I'm not there. Even when you're alone. I'm thinking of you. I'm loving you. Always."

She kissed him. Deep. Slow. Full of everything. "I love you, Keifer Watson. I love you so much."

He kissed her back. "I love you too, Jay Watson. My wife. My forever."

---

The Return

They took the boat back as the sun started to lower. The sky was gold. The water was gold. Everything was gold.

Jay sat in the back. The message in the bottle clutched in her hands. She read it again. And again. And again.

Keifer sat beside her. Arm around her. "You're going to wear out the paper."

She looked at him. "I'm keeping this forever. I'm framing it. Putting it on our wall. Showing our children. Our grandchildren."

He smiled. "Our grandchildren?"

She nodded. "Someday. They'll ask how we fell in love. I'll tell them about this bottle. About this ocean. About you."

He kissed her forehead. "About us. About our story. About our forever."

She leaned against him. "Our forever. Just beginning."

---

Sunset

They watched the sunset from their deck. The sky was on fire. Oranges and reds and purples bleeding into each other. The water reflected it back, endless and eternal.

Jay sat between Keifer's legs. Her back against his chest. His arms around her. The bottle beside them.

"Keifer?"

"Yeah, love?"

"What happens when we go home? When the honeymoon ends? When real life starts again?"

He kissed her hair. "Real life started the day you walked into my office. Real life is the hospital. The mansion. The chaos. This is just a pause. A beautiful pause. But real life is what we make it. Together."

She smiled. "Together. I like that."

He held her closer. "Together. Always."

---

Dinner

They ate dinner on the deck. Candlelight. Fresh lobster. Coconut rice. Grilled vegetables. Champagne.

The stars came out one by one. The water was dark now. The moon rising.

Jay looked at Keifer across the table. Her husband. Her love. Her forever.

"I can't believe we're here. In the Maldives. On our honeymoon. Married."

He raised his glass. "To us. To this. To forever."

She raised hers. "To us. To this. To forever."

They drank. The stars watched. The waves sang. The world was quiet.

---

The Night

Later, they lay in bed. The glass floor beneath them showed the dark water. Moonlight streaming through. Fish glowing faintly.

Jay traced patterns on Keifer's chest. "Three days down. Eleven to go."

He kissed her hair. "And then? After the honeymoon?"

She looked up at him. "Then we go home. To our family. To our life. To our forever."

He smiled. "Our forever. I like the sound of that."

She kissed his chest. "Our forever. Starting now. Continuing always."

He held her close. "Always, Mrs. Watson. Always."

She closed her eyes. The waves sang. The stars watched. The villa held them safe.

Mr. and Mrs. Watson. Day three of forever. And so many more to come.
