"I need to check up on Hailey, to make sure she's okay, I can't believe she decided to go with Hardin" Faye said worriedly.
She was already back in Mark's house after much persuasion from her husband, she made him promise to come back home by 4pm no matter what and he had no choice but to agree even though it was inconvenient.
"You know they love each other, Lucy's appearance only spite Hailey but I know she truly loves Hardin just the way he loves her" Mark replied.
"I'm more than sure Hailey loves Hardin and maybe Hardin loves her too but he won't see her without seeing Lucy, I mean she looked more like Lucy when she came back from her beach trip" Faye said worriedly.
"Can you even tell the difference, they look too much like" Mark frowned.
"Exactly my point, too much you won't know the difference explaining why Hardin can't truly love Hailey, he would always remember Lucy's deeds to him, he suffered depression for months" Faye complained.
"I know, let's just hope things work out well with them," Mark replied.
"I would still have to check on her tomorrow" Faye said in determination.
"I don't think Hardin would like that," Mark informed her.
"Since when do I care about what he likes?" Faye frowned and Mark sighed.
Faye was a force, a burning force that could not be stopped, she would literally burn everything that stands in front of her, Mark still wondered how he fell head over heels for her cause they were worlds apart.
Lucy ran her eyes through Hailey's clothes in disgust.
"Is this what she wears? Seriously!? She has no fashion taste" she mumbled as she tried checking for something that suits her taste then she remembered she was supposed to act like Hailey.
"Fuçk, this is a pain!" Lucy bit her lips and finally settled on something light to wear.
She walked down the stairs as she admired the house. Hardin had changed a lot from when she was last here, it seems he made a lot of efforts in wanting to erase her from his memory.
But now she was here, not Hailey but her, no one else.
"You're awake this early?" Hardin asked, he was wearing casual clothes, he didn't plan on going to work today not with Hailey still mad at him.
But he had expected her to wake up late, she has always woken up late but she was up early today, guess she couldn't sleep well knowing she was in his house.
A string pulled his heart at the thought.
"Why aren't you at work?" she asked instead with a little sass in her voice.
"Decided to skip work today, you always wanted me to skip work" Hardin replied with a small smile and Lucy frowned.
The door opened and Hardin's mom entered. She was delighted to see Hailey here. Hardin had told her about the situation when she called to ask about Hailey.
"I'm glad you're here" Erica smiled in ecstasy as she walked towards Lucy engulfing her in a hug which Lucy returned forcibly.
She never liked Hardin's mom because during the time when she was with Hardin, his mom always says stuff about not breaking her son's heart and that irritated Lucy.
She didn't want to get all clingy and mushy with Hardin's family cause all she wanted and still wanted was Money and Erica had too many requests.
"My friend loved the cake we baked, thank you" Erica said as she pulled away from the hug, Lucy was confused at first but she smiled and nodded softly.
She had no idea what Erica was talking about but she played along anyway cause she was supposed to be Hailey.
"Don't let that witch come between the both of you okay? My son loves you a lot, you remembered what you promised me right?" Erica continued as she walked Hailey towards the living room couch.
"Yes I do" Lucy smiled at her, trying her best as much as possible not to strangle the woman in front of her for calling her a witch.
"Why didn't you go to work today?" Erica turned to Hardin who had been quiet.
"I wanted to keep Hailey company" he replied.
"I'm here now, she still needs pace to process everything, the fact that she's here means she won't run away son" Erica said and Hardin wanted to refuse but he thought better and nodded.
His mom was right anyway, she was here, meaning she doesn't plan on running away.
He got dressed and left for work while Erica told a supposed Hailey about her friend's wedding.
It was as if the world was against Lucy cause immediately Erica left the house, Faye came.
Lucy caused the universe to torture her, pretending to be Hailey was harder than she thought, if not harder than deceiving Hardin.
At least she was able to convince herself she was in love with Hardin then, but pretending to be some naive girl was way harder than she thought but she pulled it off just fine.
She kept quiet most of Faye's talks even though all she wanted was to send her away.
Faye finally left and she had space to breathe, she called Cole to confirm his situation with Hailey and if they had left the country already but Cole wouldn't pick her calls.
"Damn that bastàrd" she muttered.
