Lucy's eyes flickered open, it didn't take long for her to notice she was tied to a wooden chair and she panicked.
She didn't believe Hardin would be able to do something like this to her, she was sure he wouldn't. hurt her cause he wasn't the type, she was pulled out of her thoughts when the door to the room she was inside opened and Hardin entered with a cold face.
"I would only ask once, tell me everything, I know Hailey is in Australia and I want to know why and how she got there" Hardin said darkly and Lucy chuckled.
"I'm shocked you haven't flown over to Australia to find her, I am that important" she spoke with a smirk.
"I want answers Lucy, you would be surprised what I am willing to do for it" Hardin said instead with a glare.
"I'm not telling you anything, you can't bring yourself to do anything to me right?" Lucy said and Hardin's eyes darkened.
He stretched his hand and the man behind him dropped a gun on it. When Lucy saw it she shrieked, panicked and showed in her eyes, she never knew Hardin was the type to do something like this.
"You would want to start talking" he said, aiming the gun at her but Lucy didn't bulge, she was scared as hell but she wasn't ready to give in, she won't let Hardin and Hailey have their happy ending, Cole should better keep Hailey hidden.
A gunshot was heard and Lucy screamed loudly, her leg was bleeding, the pain was too much, sweat ran down her face as she tried to adjust to the pain.
He shot her?
"Ready to talk now?" He asked in an icy voice, he has had enough of her games, she was annoying the shit out of him, everything he did to him, it was about time she paid back.
Lucy breathed heavily, her body shook in panic and she was unable to form words, when Hardin had nothing from her he shot her other leg making her scream again.
"Stop!" She finally found her voice.
"She's... She's with Cole, he erased her... memory to
forget everything" Lucy said in between breaths, she couldn't take the pain anymore, she never expected Hardin to shoot her.
"Bring him in" Hardin spoke and Fedrick was brought into the room.
"He helped you right, he is working for you" Hardin said more of a statement than a question and Lucy felt all hope drain.
Cole's inside man was caught too.
"He is working for Cole" Lucy said and Fedrick shook in fright.
"He threatened my sister, I couldn't let my sister die" Fedrick said, his lips shaking and beads of sweat ran down his face.
Hardin turned to him and shot him on the arm, his scream ran across the room.
"You better not show your face to me again, you're fired" Hardin said and Fedrick was taken out.
"When I get back from Australia I will deal with you properly," Hardin said to Lucy before leaving.
"You'll never be happy with her, you see her everyday and all you'll think about is me" she yelled but Hardin didn't turn.
"Hardin!!! You can leave me here like this!" She yelled again but Hardin was far gone.
_____
Hardin stepped off the private jet, After days of searching and agonizing over Hailey's sudden disappearance, he was finally here. His jaw tightened as he thought about Lucy's confession and Cole's involvement.
They had erased Hailey's memory, something that made his mission even more complicated.
He pulled his cap lower over his eyes and headed toward the beach.
An Intel told him Cole was here and He knew he would be here with Hailey, even though she wasn't here, he won't let any lead slip through.
But he saw her.
Hailey stood by the shoreline, her hair blowing in the wind, a soft smile gracing her lips as she watched the waves crash.
Relief flooded Hardin's veins, and for a moment, he just stood there, taking in the sight of her alive and well, at least Cole didn't harm her.
He approached her, he knew she wouldn't remember him but he went to her nonetheless
"Hailey" his voice choked with emotion as he stared at her, she turned towards him with a small frown.
"I'm not Hailey, you've got the wrong person" Hailey replied.
His heart stopped. The cold realization hit him like a punch to the gut.
She really didn't remember him and that fuçker changed her name too
"It's me... Hardin," he said with his voice low "and your name is Hailey" he added.
Hailey took a wary step back, her hand clutching her dress, she had a worried look on her face.
"Look, I don't know you. Please leave me alone." she said and made to walk away.
"Hailey, wait!" Hardin stepped closer, but she recoiled, her eyes flashing with fear.
"You don't understand.
You're Hailey Clarke — we know each other, you're my wife" Hardin tried to explain but her brow furrowed, and she looked around for help.
"Please stop. I don't know you, and I don't appreciate being harassed." she said sternly.
Pain gripped Hardin's chest. He reached out, desperate to make her remember.
"Please, go away," she said firmly, fear gripping her. A man approached, placing a protective arm around her shoulder.
"Everything alright, Loreen?" he asked, shooting Hardin a warning glare.
"Yes, I'm fine. This man was just leaving," Hailey/Loreen replied, leaning into the stranger's touch.
Hardin froze, his fists clenching. It felt like a dagger had pierced his heart. Was she really gone? Did she really forget everything they shared?
He looked up at the man.
It was Cole.
Hardin gave him a glare but he smirked at him instead but it was quickly masked with frown.
"I would appreciate it if you don't harass my fiance" Cole said and Hardin frowned.
They were engaged?
