Alex wanted to find out a way to pay his respects to the plane. While it seemed completely illogical Alex had his reasons.
With the main reason being that the plane was the only reason they were still alive. Also he didn't mean to bow and pray to the plane but really just have a leaving party.
Although the resources needed for this party were going to be difficult to get. Yet Alex had a whole plane's worth of people to use.
Except first Alex actually needed to tell them about the party. Well actually first Alex needed to tell the group that they were leaving.
At the thought of this Alex suddenly became worried. This was because he knew how stubborn the survivors could be.
He knew that most of them would object to the idea of leaving. As not only the thought of being without a shelter scared them.
But they would also have grown attached to planes like Alex had been. So Alex only had one sure fire solution.
Alex was going to prove that the plane wasn't safe by luring a shit ton of monsters to its location.
While his plan worked Alex would also need to defend the plane and give a speech immediately after.
Although hesitant to this plan at first Alex decided upon it. Finding it is the funniest and best way to convince the survivors.
Alex still felt like something was missing to his plan. And although a strange feeling considering how much he had to do he still thought about it.
After thinking for a while about what could be missing he suddenly thought about his victory against the spider.
The victory or revenge had reminded him of the brave men that had died during their journey.
Alex finally figured out what he was missing, as he realized that he wanted to honor those that died during their stay at the plane.
How he'd do this should be up to the men's family, and if they didn't have any with them on the continent then up to the group.
Alex thought this to be a way to put their lives to rest. As all of them that had died had faced death completely unfairly.
Now all that Alex had to do was set his plan in motion. Yet it was going to be tough to confront the survivors.
Except he had done it many other times before. So he sucked up his anxiety and prepared his short speech.
Once he had it planned out he walked to the front of the plane. At the front of the restaurant was a pedestal.
This pedestal was from the repeated times Alex or Lyra had given a speech at the front of the plane.
Now whenever one of them or even someone else stood at the pedestal they immediately paid attention to the speaker.
As Alex passed by the men and women at their respective seats he gained their attention.
While Alex stood on the pedestal the survivors of the plane gave him their respect and attention.
Alex coughed clearing his throat, destroying the possibility of an embarrassing moment in front of the large crowd.
For the first time looking at the crowd Alex didn't feel nervous, instead sorrowful. While this bad mood had not just come from their leaving.
Instead it also had to do with the men that had died. While on the outside it looked like Alex dint care about the men's death, deep inside he cared.
He found it dutiful and brave to die while trying to protect others on an unknown continent. Even though none of the men had died protecting others they had before.
Whether it be the hunters that died bravely fighting the devilish dream spider or the pilots who had tried to fly them to a safe destination.
As Alex thought about this his eyes suddenly started welling up. As tears started building up and his eyes reddened.
Although Alex had not let a tear fall down his cheek it was still enough to catch the attention of his audience.
Seeing this the crowd grew worried, except they grew worried for an entirely different reason.
They believed Alex was going to give them the news that another of the passengers had died.
While this wasn't too far from the truth it was much worse than reality. As Alex was just going to suggest a party before leaving.
Then Alex finally began his speech wiping away the worry.
"It has come to my attention that it is unavoidable for us to stay in a fixed location. Instead we must leave and survive out in the wilderness, and although many of you might be against that we must, it's the only way for us to progress and eventually leave this horrid continent. Yet I do not suggest we leave immediately, instead I recommend a party, a party for our leaving, to honor those who have died, and to give thanks to the plane and ourselves for our hard work and efforts."
As soon as Alex gave his speech he realized he had forgotten something. A crucial part of his plan blatantly skipped.
With Alex completely forgetting to lure beasts to their location. Alex had now thrown away his best chance at convincing the survivors.
Now Alex was left with his only option, which was simply tot rely on his speech. Alex had to pray that the speech was enough to convince them.
If it wasn't then Alex and the survivors would be forced behind a wall stopping any progress they would or could have.
Alex paid close attention to the reaction of the crowd. Trying to find any tell tale signs that his speech worked.
Yet what he read both discouraged him and uplifted him. With half showing agreement while the other half showed disapproval.
Alex now only had to hope the disapproval would shift with logic. Or if any questions arose he could rebut them.
Then Alex's hopes came to fruition.
"Why do we have to leave? Can't we just stay here and continue what we have been doing?"
Alex had a counter to this, and although not great it should still have the effect he was hoping for.
"Well if we stay here we are losing two things and not gaining any. While if we leave we're gaining many things and only losing one thing. With our stay causing a block in any progress our hunters could gain, and it stops us from searching for th continent core-"
As Alex was about to continue he was cut off.
"What's the continent's core?"
Many people showed their confusion and agreement with the question. While Alex suddenly realized his mistake.
Alex had never mentioned the continent's core to the survivors.
"Well the continent's core is basically the most believed mythical creature on this island, while if we are to find it and lay our hands on it we all will gain talents or magic in other words, while this should greatly increase our chance of escaping the continent."
"While before I got cut off I was going to say that from leaving and searching a broader area not only will we learn much more skills in the wilderness we will also have a greater reservoir of food and resources, we also have the chance to come across other people that might have also gotten stranded on this island."
Alex knew there were many arguments he could not win against. Yet he only was Abe to pray for the naivety of the group.
Then while observing the crowd Alex was suddenly overjoyed. As he had noticed most of the group was agreeing with his proposal.
Alex now just had to confirm and set his plan into motion.
"If you agree with this, raise your hand, we will take the majority vote and follow that."
Hearing this, people began to raise their hands while others let them down. Once everyone had finished Alex began counting the sides.
Suddenly Alex was overjoyed, while also relieved. As he counted and saw that three more people had agreed rather than disagreed.
"Well it seems we will be leaving in a week. It should be enough time to prepare, while we will hold the party tonight, so we are going to need to gather a huge amount of fire wood and food. So everyone will be hunting and gathering today unless physically unable to."
Alex gave a bright smile while he heard groans and sighs coming from the crowd.
People then began preparing for the mass hunting event. While Alex noticed Lyra walking over to him.
Once she arrived she gave him a friendly smile. Yet Alex was not deceived by this act, as he knew her true intentions were to probe him.
"So it's finally time to get searching then, well we can't have anymore distrust between us, so I just wanted to say that the system's name is knowledge, just as a gift."
This was beyond what Alex could've imagined. Not expecting the sudden friendship gift from Lyra.
Although Alex tried to ignore it thinking it to be a trap Alex then realized two things. First it couldn't be trapped. Second he needed friends on the unknown continent.
Even though his hunter party were all close, Alex really didn't fit in with them. As his age really separated their interests.
While Lyra seemed to be pretty close to his age. So deep down Alex was desperate for a friendship between them.
This small tiny feeling Alex felt had somehow convinced Alex to reciprocate the gift.
"I think distrust is fine but we should still get to know each other to destroy that distrust, so I wanted to tell you that the higher the realm of creature or weapon the more abilities it has."
Alex truly wanted the friendship between them, and he was slowly coming to the realization of that.
While Lyra on the other hand felt honored, while she too wanted to be friends. As they were still both young and social creatures.
Then Lyra had a sudden idea to fulfill both their wishes.
"Well if we want to get to know each other why don't we have a conversation while hunting today."
Shocked by this sudden question that basically seemed like a date to him Alex blushed. Yet he still wanted to agree to it.
"Yea that sounds fine, see you then."
Alex then ran off to cool his mind down. He was too embarrassed and inexperienced for the conversation.
With growing up in an orphanage taking away most of his social skills. Yet Alex slowly calmed down before wasting his time.
…
After waiting for a bit it was time for the giant hunting event to proceed. With mandatory hunting exciting and discouraging to others.
While Alex was slowly growing excited, despite knowing it.
