Chapter 28 - Chapter Twenty Eight, System

It's had taken Alex and the other quite a bit before the awoke everyone. Once everyone had awaken they started to travel through th forest.

Unable to take the risk that the boar could show up again they decided to leave in haste. Grabbing as much meat as they could and leaving.

While the group had also taken many detours to avoid many more monsters on their way. These monsters were nothing compared to the boar.

Yet the group had decided not to take a risk with their fatigue and injured man. So the group had travelled until the sun was starting to approach the mountains and set.

The group had found a suitable spot in the forest lacking of any creatures. Although for safety the group would still take night shifts.

This would allow for quick reactions to any sudden attack. Although it would also take multiple personnel to make aure no creatures could come.

So the Alex and the group had decided on four groups. Each groups covering a shift for two and a half hours.

Then they would switch out with another group. To decide these groups Alex had just numbered people from one through four.

With the ones group starting first. Yet they still had problems for the upcoming night. One of which was noise.

Alex doubted that if a night shift had found a roaming creature they'd be able to defeat it soundlessly.

Yet their was nothing Alex could do about it, he was just going to have to deal with the constant noise.

Although the group had already made camp the sun was still out. Alex decided to use this time to explore Knowledge.

Alex wanted to deep dive into the system to see its capabilities and consciousness. After seeing how it had responded to Alex's earlier comments his interest was peaked.

It had been for awhile, yet the boar's had interrupted Alex's curiosity. Almost dying in his fight against the boar.

Now Alex was free from these worries of abominations and horrors. Finally given the opportunity to quench his curiosity.

Alex then started thinking to himself. Although these thoughts were not rhetorical and directed to himself.

Instead his questions were directly questioning the mysterious system that had made its way in Alex's mind.

What are you?

Are you alive?

Why haven't you talked to any of us before?

Alex threw a barrage of questions at the unknowing system. Alex still didn't even know if the system would be able to respond.

Although Alex held hope that it could. Many things would be possible with the help of a conscious system.

Especially if he was able to use its consciousness to change the manageability of his system.

Or he could tell the system to alert him whenever monsters approached during his sleep.

The possibilities were truly endless, while a flowing river of possibilities and questions for the system flowed into his mind, never giving Alex a moment of pause.

Although the system had still not answered any of his questions. It hadn't even showed any of sign to Alex's questions.

Right as Alex was about to start worrying about the lack of his system an illusory, transparent, flickering blue screen popped into existence.

While for some strange reason Alex had felt its anger at the extensive questions he had asked.

Even if Alex's questions had only totaled to three the system somehow gave off a system of annoyance.

Almost like it was dissapointed in the learning of its conscious kind and the upcoming flow of unstoppable questions.

Alex on the other hand seemed to basically ignore this feeling and read its response before he'd ask even more questions.

[ I am a sentient system meant to help earths most promising specie advance.

I am alive enough to see and feel out of my hosts body.

While I haven't spoken directly to any of you because none of you have ever spoken to me.]

Alex felt his regret rush through him. In pain that he had never tried talking to the system before now.

Now that Alex questions were out of the way Alex immediately knew his next question.

Does the whole world have this system?

Alex waited for an extremely long time before realizing the system was not going to answer. This made Alex a bit distracted but he thought of another question.

Where are we?

Once again no answer, making Alex start to ponder if the system still worked. While thinking of another question to ask his body almost started thinking on itself as it asked the question about something that had been on the back of its mind.

What was that boar?

Then Alex finally got an answer, making him both relieved and angry at the systems ignoring of his previous questions.

Alex still wanted to know what its answer was, so he pushed aside his feelings before he was able to start cussing out an illusory screen that only appeared in his mind.

[That boar that stood above the others in its race was a king boar, specifically a King Gale Boar at realm two, rank one, rank two]

Alex was shocked by its overwhelming information. Utterly shocked by its over explanation.

Although in Alex's mind pieces of an enormous puzzle started clicking together. Alex was beginning ti grasp the nature of the new ways of the world.

With Alex's first huge detail that had also stemmed many more questions was that in groups of animals or rather abominations they had leaders.

These leaders usually were much stronger than their average subjects. This was the main reason the had the power to lead packs or groups.

Although Alex still didn't know how a king became a king and what type of special abilities or powers that came with it.

While the second detail hadn't just revealed information on the boar and its true rank but the way realms worked.

Yet Alex wasn't to sure so he decided to ask a question about another abomination he was curious about.

What was the realm and stage of the dream spider?

[The dream spider you killed in its dream form was at realm realm two, stage two, stage two]

Alex keenly noticed that it specified that Alex had only killed its dream form, hinting that the true creature would've been much stronger.

Although Alex didn't give this to much worry as instead he was shocked that the dream spider was still stronger then the boar king.

Alex also confirmed his theory, that each ability has separate stages. This also confirmed his earlier thoughts after seeing the two abilities his whip had.

With this newfound knowledge Alex grew even more interested in the abilities of his ruins and why some of them were unknown to him.

Alex then slapped his face while calling himself stupid. With Alex realizing he could've just asked for confirmation that that was how ruins worked.

Does each ability or talent have their own stages?

[Yes]

The answer was short but concessive proving Alex theory right. Another question then bubbled its way to the surface.

Was the spider a king?

[No, it was to weak to be a king]

This did not surprise Alex too much, although it would've been cool if it was and he had killed it. While this answer had also led for a perfect time for Alex's next question.

What are the requirements to become a king for the animals?

[First anything can become a king of its subjects as long as it meets the requirements: It is strongest of its known race meaning it is the strongest of all of its fellow race it knows exist, next it must have its first talent at rank two, finally it must preform an advancement ritual]

Reading this text in front of him Alex had many questions Bree within him. Despite his questions that had been answered they sprouted more and more unanswered questions.

Although Alex was also extremely impressed by the details the system provided. Such as the requirements and the little hints in its text.

As it had clearly hinted that even he could become a king. This was a possibility if his only subjects were fellow survivors.

Except this was not how it worked, as it required him to be the strongest out of everyone in the world.

With Alex surprisingly knowing the existence of other humans outside of the unknown continent.

Alex was also excluding Lyra from the thought, or else it would be too close to estimate.

Another question unrelated to his last then entered the front of his question line. Pondering it he was suddenly curious to its answer.

Are we really in another continent, an entirely new continent that popped up in less than a day? If it is how big is it?

Alex really wanted confirmation that they were in an entirely new continent, while also curious about its size.

[We are indeed on another continent, it is separate from the seven continents while I'm am unsure its size]

Instead of taking time to think of a new question Alex already had one to ponder the systems capability.

How do you know that it's another continent but not know even an estimate of its size?

[I am able to tell this is another continent because my data tell me we are on the eighth continent, while I am unable to see the size of the continent, so I am unable to even compare it to other continents]

Alex fell extremely disappointed while a sudden thought creeped into his mind. Yet instead of the usual question it was instead a fear.

A growing suspicion that led him to a fear, such a fear that made Alex wonder if he'd ever see his orphanage friends again.

Are we still on earth?

[Yes we are still on earth]

Immediately relieved Alex let out a sigh of relief. For a quick moment Alex had actually believed that he had been transmigrated into another world, hence the monsters, systems, and eight continents.

Luckily Alex had obliterated that fear after hearing the comforting truth the system had bestowed Alex.

The sun had also begun to set, while Alex decided to wrap up his questions to get enough sleep, as Alex had the last shift, so he needed to fall asleep early.

Knowing his restrictions of the complexity of the questions, Alex decided to ask a quick and simple one before trying to continue later in the morning.

Is there a way to customize my system screen and add new panels?

[Yes, you can directly ask me to add or customize what you see, although there are limits.]
