Chapter 26 - Chapter Twenty Six, Departure

A week had flown by, as the raging river of time wasn't able to be stopped. Instead it flowed by leaving to time for the survivors to unattactch themselves from the plane.

Yet the had no choice, they all knew what had to be done. Even if one truly disagreed with Alex's proposal it didn't matter.

As if someone were to stay at the plane alone they had no chance of surviving. Even Alex would have a tough time.

Although they were also a bit relaxed. As the morning after party Alex had announced his destruction of the merit system.

This had relieved more then it had dissapointed. So most of the survivors had started to trust Alex more.

Even Lyra had begun giving more trust to Alex, while Alex reciprocated this trust. Now trying to change his previous ways.

Yet feeling and views still lingered from Alex's old ways. With Alex still distrusting most of the survivors, only caring about a select few.

Although it didn't matter, as now everyone was surrounding the tree that held up the plane.

Almost every single one of them had a bag strapped on them, while some people had more then just one bag.

It was now time for their departure. The day had finally come after a whole month. It was time to leave and explore more of the continent.

Alex was brimming with excitement, unable to contain it he let a smile plaster across its face. He was joyous by the thought of the adventure in front of him.

Even if Alex didn't know why he could presume it was due to the stories he had read as a kid.

While for the first time their story didn't seem to grim. Instead it was now an empty canvas, waiting to be colored.

"Well I guess it's time to leave."

Alex said this while looking back at the large group behind him. Yet what he saw left him dumbstruck.

With the majority of the group staring back at the plane while waving. Alex was perplexed by their emotions toward the plane.

So to lead by example Alex took his first step forward. Noticing this the survivors began following behind him.

Alex was happy by his achievement, getting the group to follow him despite their strange behavior.

The group had decided to head just left of the volcano. This had many perks to it, although Alex was weary of travelling to close to it.

So he had decided to move close to it, while still being out of its range of fire. While the groups reason for travelling near the volcano was brilliant.

With ther previous experiences of the volcanoes eruption and the following stampede that had repeated many times during their stay at the plane.

Those experiences of the following stampede made it obvious that the nearby animals surrounding the volcano had fled.

Thai meant that close enough to the volcano there'd be a lack of dangerous predators. This would be extremely relieving during their trip.

As it was going to be a long and difficult trip if they ran into abominations every few minutes.

This was especially true because they didn't know there location. Instead they'd be wandering around, so the lack of creatures would be nice.

After the group had been traveling for an hour Alex approached Lyra with a brimming question.

"Your team dealt with water when we were at the plane, so do you know what we're going to do know that we're away from that water source?"

Lyra pondered Alex question, but she did not seem worried. This relieved Alex a bit, although he was still curious to her solution.

"Well we packed a load of water in a storage ruin, and we will fill it whenever we find a lake."

Alex was not to keen on her plan, although he trusted her. Yet it was still good to take safety precautions.

To do this Alex was going to find anyone that had these miraculous storage ruins and trade for them.

Wait isn't it Lyra's job to deal with water, I'll just make her do it.

Thinking this Alex chuckled.

"I don't think one storage is enough, can you go find everyone that has a storage ruin and try and get it from them? Please and thank you."

Hearing this Lyra's out a sigh before turning around. Yet midway through her turn she paused with a confused expression obviously shown on her face.

"Why should I?"

Lyra gave Alex a small glare. While Alex on the other hand was shocked by her rebellious act.

"Because I said so."

Lyra gave him a glare, obviously conveying that she wasn't buying that. Alex started to sweat realizing he had no authority over her.

"Well I give you a ruin."

Lyra seemed intrigued, while Alex had said this with distaste. Alex did not want to give up his ruin, but he didn't feel like doing work.

"Alright but if has to be stage two at least!"

Hearing this Alex was shocked by her price immediately regretting his choice to try and pay her.

"Thats an absurd price I'm not going that high!"

"Well if there's not enough water I don't get backlash cause I'm not the leader."

Lyra stocked out her tongue moving Alex. While Alex was left in shock by her childish behavior.

Alex had no choice but to succumb to Lyra's trickery and pay her a stage two ruin he had gotten from a bear awhile back.

Alex was now in a bad mood after basically getting robbed. Although the ruin was one he never used anyway.

Then Alex decided to check his system window to look around, and check out his ruins.

Then he focused within himself to open his status window. While he watched the illusory screen of Knowledge appear.

[Name=Alex

Talent=None

Curses=None

Ruins=38

Kin=None]

Alex was not to surprised by his amount of ruins. As he had done a lot of hunting during his training.

Alex was now filled to the brim with ruins, except he really didn't use them. Other then his lost katana all the other ruins were barely touched.

Even the armor ruins that Alex had gotten ahold of weren't used often. As Alex didn't like there looks and they didn't offer much protection from the dangers he faced.

Against normal people the armor would be extraordinary. Yet against the beasts of the continent they were just normal clothes.

Except this was not true at all. Instead the armor he had could offer protection from even the bears.

Yet after Alex had used it against the dream spider he found them useless. Even though he was comparing them to a monster among monsters.

While searching through his ruin menu he had tried finding every stage two ruin. Yet it was a tedious process, opening descriptions over and over.

Man why can't this system have a menu to sort through ruins!

Alex was pissed by the lack of sophistication the system offered. Then he watched another illusory screen of knowledge flicker in front of him.

[Rebuilding system ruin menu]

Alex was left completely and utterly shocked after seeing the words on the screen. As he realized he had never directly spoken to the system.

Realizing this Alex slapped his face, as the was one o one of systems. Alex wanted to yell at himself for his stupidity.

Wow I could've done so much more if don't for my ignorance!

Alex was extremely disappointed in himself, while having another sudden question. Except it was not for Knowledge(the system).

Despite his overflowing questions for Knowledge he had one stand above all. Instead it was for Lyra, as he wandered if she knew all along.

Alex was just about to confront her when a boar entered his vision. Usually this wouldn't concern Alex, and he'd just leave it for his hunter group.

Except Alex watched as boar after boar came flooding toward them. Alex was suddenly overcome with an immense feeling of fear.

One boar was child's play, a dozen boar's with his hunting group was a workout. Except in front of him was approximately thirty boar's all charging toward the group of survivors.

Even with their immense numbers it was going to be extremely difficult to prevail. Yet they had to, as it was impossible for them to outrun boar's.

"Everyone prepare for a huge battle, we have thirty-ish boar's charging toward us!"

Alex watched as everybody stiffened in fear, yet the still moved, even if it was a bit slow. Then a beautiful sight of dozens of ruins being summoned at once had enforced their will.

Alex then summoned a ruin, with the air swirling into his hand. Except the air did not form a hilt, instead a long and twisting shaft.

It was the whip Alex had been rewarded for killing the wretched spider. Yet in his other hand more air was funneled into it.

Alex was now duel wielding the whip and katana at the same time. As Alex planned on killing at least six of them, to lighten the load of the group.

Jeez, I really paid Lyra a stage two ruin so I wouldn't have to do work, and now I'm stuck with the most work. Sigh.

Alex then rushed in front of the battle ready survivors. As he intercepted the boar tide before anyone else.

As he met them he immediately swung down his whip cutting one in half brutally. While his sword slashed aside him, decapitating a boat to his right.

Alex then Immediately ran to the side avoiding the front of the wave to save himself. While he had also caught the attention of four more boar's.

Alex was then surrounded by the boar's that prepared to charge at him. Surrounded Alex spun in a circle swinging his whip around.

Yet none of the boar's were close enough to Alex to get cut. Realizing this Alex grimaced, as he had no way out of his situation other than killing all of them.

This was going to pose difficult due to there numbers, yet Alex stayed calm. As he observed his situation and made many plans.

Then Alex heard pattering feat behind him, hearing them Alex quickly turned around. Except he was met by a boar mere feat away from him.

Alex was left shocked by the immense speed of the boars. While he quickly put his sword in front of him, hoping to deal damage to the wild beast.

Alex was then suddenly sent back, as he travelled through the air. Then Alex felt a gust of wind catch ahold of him and thrown him even further.

Alex fell onto the ground near another boar where he got up quickly. Yet the time he was next to a boar alone.

With its buddies to far away from him.

Well I guess boar's can't be perfect strategists.

Alex then swung down his whip, leaving a huge hole in the boar's head. While he watched the boar fall to the ground.

Once again Alex heard the pattering of steps behind him. This time instead of turning around Alex jumped to his right.

He then watched as a boar charged past him, while he felt a strong gust of wind push him forward.

Perplexed Alex tried to ponder the abilities of the boar's yet he heard another pattering of feat. Alex once again dodged to the side.

Except the time he turned after dodging while cutting down on the boar, as a huge slash diagonally across its body appeared, leaving the boar as a corpse.

Alex then rushed toward the remaining boar that had yet to charge at him. Seeing that it was all alone Alex prepared to cut it with his whip.

Then the boar let out a loud squeal, momentarily deafening Alex. Alex then swung down his whip, yet right before the whip made contact Alex felt an extreme force collide with his back.

Alex was then sent flying forward, where once again he felt the wind carry him forward. Except this time the force of the charge was much stronger.

As when Alex landed on the ground he could barely stand. Yet when he turned to lay eyes on the boar he saw that the boar he had targeted was lying on the ground.

Even though Alex whip hadn't collided with the boar its surrounding aura had. As Alex realized something was surrounding his whip.

While it had being able to cut through a boar even without making contact. Leaving Alex shocked, and excited at it its power.

Wow it must have like a wind barrier around it.

Alex then watched as the remaining boar started to charge at Alex, yet this time instead of dodging Alex stood his ground.

"Well why don't I take away your greatest strength!"

Alex yelled this at the boar, planning to prove the boars greatest strength useless against him. While the boar then charged at Alex with Extraordinary speed.

Alex dropped his whip and gripped his sword with both hands. As he then hung it over his head, preparing a devastating attack.

Then once the boar was close enough Alex swung down with all his might. The boar was cut in half, as its charge had helped to extend Alex's blades reach.

While the immense force from the swing, and extraordinary speed of the boar caused it to fly past Alex on both sides, leaving him unscathed.

Alex had defeated his six, and now was extremely exhausted. As he walked back to the survivors who were still in their own battle.

Yet it seemed to be almost finished with te survivors having the upper hand. While Alex was staring at six illusory screens that all awarded him one ruin each, before quickly dismissing them.

Once Alex made it back to the group they had all won. Alex was now finally able to rest, ordering the group to take a break for lunch.

While Alex munched down on a piece of meat.

Then a loud roar echoed through the forest, and small tremors were sent through it. Alex looked toward the sound not expecting it to be close.

Yet he was left in absolute fear when he saw a boar four times the size of any of the normal boars.

While even those boars were large compared to actual boars that weren't mutated. This terrifying boar behind their camp was standing at triple the height of Alex.
