Chapter 29
As the first light of dawn broke, Wayne finally returned.
He had been dejected and weary, but the moment he spotted Euphoria safe in the room, he visibly perked up. Hearing his arrival, Euphoria sat up, only to be immediately flattened by a massive golden lion.
Once again, Wayne pinned her to the bed, happily licking her face until he remembered his own strength and stopped, afraid of hurting her.
"Get up, you're crushing the life out of me!" Euphoria grunted, shoving the heavy feline off her chest.
"Ooh~" Wayne whimpered playfully, reluctantly crawling to the side.
Euphoria climbed out of bed and noticed that the outer room was empty; Luce was gone. The sight of the vacant space left her feeling strangely hollow. She turned back to Wayne, who was rubbing against the bedding with exhaustion written all over his face. "You should sleep for a while," she said gently.
