Euphoria had no tolerance for those who preyed on the innocent. Witnessing the broken state of the two newcomers kindled a slow, burning rage in her heart toward the demon beasts.
As more and more orcs voiced their support, Hal finally gave his official nod of approval.
Relief flooded the wounded wolf-man's face. He gathered the female into his arms and bowed his head repeatedly. "Thank you, Chief! Thank you!" Hal gestured for someone to lead them to the healers, and the crowd slowly began to drift away.
"Awoo?" Wayne nudged Euphoria's shoulder, asking if she was ready to head home.
"Let's go," she said, sensing his question. "I'm starting to get hungry." Wayne let out a happy "Woof~" and hoisted her onto his back for the trek home.
Luce had spent the day hunting and had returned with fresh game, saving Wayne a trip into the woods. Dinner was a simple but comforting affair of roasted meat and stir-fried greens.
