Chapter 21
Vyn let out two final sharp cries toward Euphoria before beating his wings and disappearing into the horizon.
Though Euphoria couldn't understand his language, she could decipher the lingering intent in his tone. Wayne soon returned in human form, his skin marked with several red scratches that looked more like stinging welts than serious injuries.
He looked uncharacteristically sullen as he entered the house. Seeing the bag of seeds Vyn had left on the crate, his first instinct was to hurl them out the door; however, after a moment of internal struggle, he reluctantly set them on the floor instead.
He pulled a fresh fur skirt from the storage chest and tied it around his waist. He knew he couldn't quite best Vyn in a fair fight, and more importantly, he knew that if Euphoria chose the eagle, he would have no right to stand in her way.
Noticing his brooding silence, Euphoria walked over and patted his shoulder. "Don't worry, Wayne. I'm not going to accept Vyn."
