Chapter 4 - Promise of Jayfer

Jay's POV

The beach was glowing with the first light of dawn. Section E had scattered across the sand—Ci-n was already building a crooked sandcastle, Felix and Eman were chasing each other with splashes of seawater, and Calix was busy taking selfies with Mica.

I sat with Keifer near the shoreline, our feet buried in the cool sand. The waves kept brushing against us, like they were trying to remind me of last night's kiss.

Keifer leaned back on his elbows, staring at the horizon. "You know, Jay… this might be the last time we're all together like this before college."

His words hit me harder than the waves. I hadn't thought about it—how everything was about to change. Exams were over, high school was ending, and soon Section E would scatter into different paths.

I swallowed. "Yeah… it feels weird. Like we're holding on to something that's slipping away."

Keifer turned to me, his eyes steady. "Then let's make a promise. No matter where we go, we'll always come back here. Section E, together."

I smiled, my chest tightening with warmth. "Promise."

Behind us, Ci-n shouted, "Group photoooo!" Sir Alvin wasn't here to click it this time, but Felix grabbed his phone and everyone gathered around. We posed with messy hair, salty skin, and wide grins.

As the shutter clicked, I realized this wasn't just a picture—it was a memory carved into our hearts. A reminder of laughter, friendship, and maybe… love.

Keifer squeezed my hand secretly, hidden from the others. And in that moment, I knew—whatever the future held, this sunrise would always belong to us
