Chapter 11 - Dark

The air between the Jeon Clan and the Kim Clan grew heavy overnight.

No one said when it started. No one admitted who was at fault. But words were exchanged, pride was wounded, and misunderstandings hardened into something colder—something dangerous.

By morning, the order was clear.

No contact.

No visits.

No shared gatherings.

And most of all—

Lord Kim Taehyung was no longer permitted to approach the Jeon estate.

Jungkook heard the decree in silence.

He didn't argue.

He didn't react.

But something inside him cracked.

The halls of the Jeon estate had never felt so suffocating. The polished wooden floors echoed with footsteps that weren't Taehyung's. The corners where they used to whisper, the corridors they once ran through as children—everything felt empty.

He sat alone that night, staring at the lantern light trembling against the wall.

So this is what they meant by duty, he thought bitterly.

A cage disguised as honor.

Yoongi found him there.

"You're planning to leave," Yoongi said calmly, not a question.

Jungkook didn't look up. "Just for a while."

Silence followed. Then—

"I'll cover for you," Yoongi said quietly.

Jungkook's head snapped up. "What?"

"You won't survive if you stay here tonight," Yoongi continued, eyes dark but understanding. "Go. Before you start resenting everything."

Jungkook bowed deeply. "Thank you… hyung."

Yoongi give out a small smirk watching Jungkook escape over the wall.

That night, Jungkook escaped again.

Not for mischief.

Not for freedom.

But for them.

The familiar path to their usual hidden place felt longer than before. Every step carried fear—of being caught, of never being allowed to see them again.

When he arrived, they were already there.

Taehyung stood first.

For a moment, neither of them moved.

Then Jungkook broke.

He rushed forward, gripping Taehyung's sleeve like he was afraid he'd disappear. "They said we can't see each other anymore."

"I know," Taehyung replied softly. "They told us too."

Jimin clenched his fists. "They're acting like you guys we're enemies now."

Namjoon lowered his gaze. "Politics. Pride. Old wounds."

Seokjin scoffed bitterly. "Adults and their anger."

Hoseok forced a smile that didn't reach his eyes. "So… you will just supposed to accept that?"

Jungkook shook his head. "I don't want to stay there. Not without him."

Taehyung reached out, resting his forehead against Jungkook's. "We don't know how long this will last."

Jungkook's voice trembled. "Then let's pretend… just tonight… that nothing's changed."

They stayed together until the moon climbed high—laughing softly, sharing stories, clinging to warmth as if it might vanish at dawn.

But deep down, they all knew.

This wasn't just a misunderstanding.

It was the beginning of something darker.

And when Jungkook finally slipped back into the Jeon estate before sunrise, the silence felt heavier than ever.

Because some separations don't come with goodbyes—

only walls built by anger,

and love forced to survive in secret.
