Chapter 16 - Tension

The morning light was soft and golden as Jungkook and his friends prepared to part ways for the day. Laughter and teasing still lingered in the air, but there was an unspoken weight in their goodbyes.

Jungkook found himself walking beside Taehyung, shoulders brushing lightly.

"I'll see you later," Taehyung said quietly, voice calm but warm.

"Yeah," Jungkook replied, his heart squeezing with an odd mix of happiness and reluctance.

Before Taehyung turned away to follow the others, they shared a last, lingering hug. Hands pressed gently on each other's back, neither wanting to let go, yet knowing they had to.

"Take care," Taehyung whispered.

"You too," Jungkook murmured, holding onto the warmth a moment longer before stepping back.

As his friends walked off in the distance, Jungkook found himself alone in the quiet courtyard. The laughter faded, leaving only the wind rustling through the trees and the faint sound of his own footsteps.

"Ah~ In this dream I was in my great-great grandfather's past" He chuckled softly, shaking his head.

Jungkook find himself funny "I… I can't believe this," he whispered to himself. "Confession… a kiss… Taehyung actually liked it back. My great-great-grandfather was a reckless, mischievous guy? Even got help from his mentor, Yoongi… typical."

Jungkook laughed again, letting the humor wash over him, and made his way back to the Jeon estate. The corridors felt familiar yet strangely intimidating in the morning light. His thoughts were still with Taehyung, lingering on the warmth of their hug.

He reached his room, expecting to find Yoongi quietly waiting, as usual. But the moment he stepped inside, his stomach dropped.

Standing tall in the center of the room was Lord Jeon Seonghwan. His eyes were sharp, scanning Jungkook with a cold intensity that made the air feel heavier. The faint morning light caught the hard angles of his face, and for a moment, Jungkook forgot to breathe.

"…Lord Jeon Seonghwan?" Jungkook asked carefully, his voice small.

Seonghwan didn't respond immediately. His gaze swept over Jungkook from head to toe, as if weighing not just his words but the very way he carried himself.

Then, without a word, he asked Jungkook to follow him.

Confused, Jungkook followed him—and there, behind sturdy iron bars, sat Yoongi.

Calm. Collected. But the subtle tension in his posture betrayed a rare vulnerability.

"You…" Jungkook's voice faltered. "You put… Yoongi inside the—"

Seonghwan's gaze sharpened. "Do you think you are the only one with rules to follow, Lord Jeon?" His voice was low, commanding, each word heavy. "The loyalty of your mentor is not without consequence. You… are learning that the world does not bend to your whims."

Jungkook swallowed hard, the weight of Seonghwan's authority pressing down on him. The light in the room seemed dimmer now, the walls closer. Even the faint scent of ink and paper that reminded him of Yoongi felt distant.

"…I—" Jungkook began, but the words caught in his throat.

Seonghwan stepped closer, and the shadows seemed to move with him. "You have been reckless," he said, voice steady but cold. "And yet… you have friends who support you. You think that will protect you?"

Jungkook's chest tightened. He looked at Yoongi through the bars, then back at Seonghwan, and his mind raced. The laughter, the kisses, the confessions—they all felt fragile under this crushing weight of authority.

Seonghwan's gaze softened fractionally, but it was no kindness—only the careful calculation of a man testing the limits of his heir. "You are not in a game, Jungkook. This is your life, your responsibility… and your choices carry consequences."

As Lord Seongwan leave, Jungkook move closely to Yoongi "I am so Sorry Yoongi, I put you in there"

"It's fine Lord Jeon" Yoongi show a subtle smile "I told you that I am so happy to be at service"

"You shouldn't be in there! I'll tell them.." Jungkook paused for moment "I will pursued them to let you go"

Yoongi just shake his head and look at Jungkook "I'll be just fine right here okay?"

Jungkook's hands clenched at his sides. His heart raced. For the first time, this past-dream he thought was felt truly real, truly dangerous. And in that heavy silence, he understood—this was the beginning of the real challenge.
