Chapter 27 - Chapter 27 – The Night Walk That Changed Everything

Rain washed over the silent streets of London.

Len walked alone…

no umbrella,

no direction,

just a storm inside him louder than the one above.

Every raindrop felt like a memory he couldn't hold onto—

slipping away before he could understand it.

His heart felt strangely hollow,

as if someone had scooped out a part of his soul

and left the space echoing.

Len's Thoughts

"How can two different lives…

feel equally true?"

Aira's trembling voice.

Rina's breaking confession.

His own chest tightening until it hurt to breathe.

The words echoed again—

"In my world… Len died."

He pressed a palm against his forehead.

Was that really him?

Or another version of him?

A past life?

A memory from a timeline he never asked for?

He didn't know.

And that terrified him.

He wandered until the streets emptied

Late-night London was quiet—

apartments glowing with warm yellow light,

cars passing through puddles,

a few late workers heading home.

Len stopped under a streetlamp,

breathing slowly,

trying to steady the storm inside.

He opened the system screen.

It flickered once…

twice…

And then—

[Memory Fragment #112 Recovered]

Len swallowed nervously.

A blurry image expanded:

A battlefield

A girl crying his name

A knife

A collapse

He staggered backward.

More flashes hit him—

Hands holding his.

A promise whispered in the dark.

A desperate scream.

Len pressed both hands over his ears even though the sounds were inside his mind.

"No… not now… please…"

The memory faded.

But the pain didn't.

A Stranger Approached

Footsteps splashed through the puddles behind him.

Len turned sharply.

A tall man in a black raincoat stepped into the streetlight.

Sharp eyes.

Unreadable face.

Someone who didn't belong to this quiet night.

"You're wandering late," the man said calmly.

"Storms are dangerous when your mind is unsteady."

Len frowned.

"Do I… know you?"

The man tilted his head slightly.

"Not yet."

Something in his tone chilled Len.

The man took a small step closer.

"You shouldn't run from your fragments, Len."

Len froze.

"How do you know about that?"

The man smiled—

not friendly, not hostile…

just knowing.

"You're not the only one who crossed timelines."

Len's heart stopped for a beat.

The man continued:

"Two girls from two timelines…

and you, a soul caught between them."

He leaned closer.

"Do you really think fate will let you choose so easily?"

A bolt of lightning lit the sky.

Len stepped back instinctively.

"Who are you?"

The man finally answered—

"Someone who remembers everything."

Before Len could react,

a passing car splashed water between them,

blocking his view for one second—

And the man disappeared.

Gone.

As if he had never been there.

Len's breath trembled.

What was that?

A warning?

A clue?

A threat?

He didn't know.

But one thing was clear—

Someone else was watching this story unfold…

someone who wasn't Aira or Rina.

Back at the Dorm

Aira sat on the floor, hugging her knees, staring at the door where Len had left.

She had cried so much her voice was gone.

Rina sat silently across the room, her face empty—

the kind of calm that comes only after breaking.

Neither spoke.

One was hurting.

The other was used to hurting.

And between them—

an absence shaped exactly like Len.

Minutes felt like hours.

Finally, Rina whispered:

"This is only the beginning."

Aira didn't respond.

Rina looked at her gently—but tiredly.

"You think I want to fight you?"

Aira finally looked up, eyes red.

"Isn't that what this is?"

Rina shook her head.

"No.

This isn't a love triangle."

Aira blinked, confused.

Rina's voice softened:

"It's a battlefield."

Aira's heart jolted.

Before she could ask anything else,

Rina stood up, wiped her cheeks, and said—

"The storm outside…

is nothing compared to the one coming."

Aira felt a sudden chill.

Back to Len: Alone Under a Bridge

Len sat on the cold concrete, watching river waves slam against the pillars.

He knew one thing for certain now—

He couldn't return to them tonight.

Not like this.

Not broken.

Not confused.

He leaned back, eyes closing, letting the rain hit his face.

"Please…

just one answer."

But the night gave him none.

Only silence.

Only the beating of his own uncertain heart.

Only the reminder:

Two lives.

Two promises.

One truth waiting to break everything.

The storm began to fade…

But the real storm?

That was just beginning.
