Chapter 29 - Chapter 29 – The Day Fate Took a Step Forward

London's night faded into another gray morning, clouds hanging low over the towering buildings.

Traffic hummed softly, and people rushed to their offices with coffee cups and tired eyes.

But Len walked slowly.

As if something inside him refused to move.

As if each step dragged a weight he didn't know how to drop.

He kept hearing the stranger's words:

"One of them will walk away forever."

"Two girls chase your ghost."

"Which Len are you?"

Len clenched his fists inside his pockets.

If the man was telling the truth…

then someone was going to get hurt—deeply.

Inside BigSky Apparel – A New Distance

When Len entered the wide glass office floor, Aira noticed him immediately.

"Len! You didn't reply last night again—"

But she stopped when she saw his expression.

He wasn't angry.

He wasn't sad.

He was simply… distant.

"Morning," he said quietly.

Aira's heart dropped a little.

It was just one word, but it sounded like miles between them.

Rina entered a few moments later.

She didn't approach him.

She didn't greet him.

She walked past him with a polite, professional smile—

the kind that says: "We are just coworkers now."

And somehow…

that hurt more than anger.

Len stood there, unable to breathe for a second.

Team Assignment Announcement

"Attention everyone," the HR manager called out.

"Teams for the month-long training project are ready!"

Everyone gathered around.

Len stood quietly.

Aira crossed her fingers nervously.

Rina folded her arms, expression unreadable.

The manager began reading:

"Team Alpha: Aira Kim, Minsuk Lee, Sarah Cho."

Aira blinked.

"Wait… I'm not with Len?"

Len felt the same confusion—but stayed silent.

"Team Beta: Rina Park, Haruto Min, and Len Ji-Won."

The room shifted.

Aira looked at Len immediately.

Rina looked at Aira.

Len looked at the floor.

The manager smiled:

"Great! Team Beta, go to Conference Room 9. Your project briefing starts in ten minutes."

Conference Room 9 – An Uneasy Beginning

The room was spacious, with long glass panels overlooking the rainy city.

Haruto, their third teammate, sat with a cheerful smile.

"Nice to meet you two!"

Rina nodded politely.

Len gave a small, distracted smile.

The instructor handed them a file:

"Design a full clothing concept for next month's London Showcase."

Haruto's eyes sparkled.

"Big stage. Big responsibility."

But Len was barely listening.

Rina noticed.

"Len," she said softly, "are you okay?"

He looked up.

Their eyes met.

For a second—

just one soft second—

it felt like the old days…

Before timelines twisted,

before heartbreak,

before distance.

But Len pulled away first.

"I'm fine."

Rina's fingers tightened around her pen.

Aira Watching From the Door

Aira stood outside the conference room quietly.

She pretended to look for the restroom,

pretended she wasn't watching,

pretended she wasn't hurting.

But through the glass wall…

she saw Len and Rina seated next to each other.

Working.

Talking.

Not smiling…

but still closer than she wanted them to be.

A sharp ache pulled at her chest.

She whispered:

"Why do I feel like… something is slipping away?"

Lunch – Three Hearts, Three Directions

Len didn't join Rina.

He didn't join Aira either.

He ate alone at a corner table.

Aira wanted to sit with him…

but something inside her whispered:

"Not today."

Rina looked like she wanted to approach him too…

but stopped halfway and turned around.

And so—

Three people sat separately

in one crowded cafeteria.

Three hearts

in three different corners

of the same room…

And none of them truly knew

how close they were to breaking.

The Rooftop Again – Wind & Warnings

Len went upstairs after lunch.

The rooftop had become a strange kind of refuge.

He stood by the railing,

the cold wind brushing against his hair.

He whispered:

"Who am I hurting? Why can't I—"

He stopped.

The rooftop door opened softly behind him.

Footsteps.

Len turned back—

But it wasn't the stranger.

It was Rina.

Her expression was calm…

but her eyes held a thousand storms.

"Why are you avoiding me?" she asked quietly.

Len froze.

"I'm not—"

"You are."

Her voice trembled for the first time.

"You're pulling away.

You're looking at me like I'm a mistake you shouldn't return to.

You don't even look me in the eyes anymore."

Len swallowed hard.

"It's complicated."

Rina stepped closer.

"No. It's simple."

She looked directly into him.

"You don't trust yourself…

and you don't trust us."

Len turned away.

The silence between them grew heavier.

Aira Arrives – A Fateful Moment

The rooftop door suddenly opened again.

Aira stood there.

She had come to talk to Len—

but froze when she saw Rina standing so close to him.

Her heart fell straight through the floor.

Rina slowly stepped back.

Aira forced a smile.

"Oh… I'm sorry. I didn't mean to interrupt."

Len's chest tightened.

Aira whispered:

"I just wanted to ask… are you coming downstairs? We have a meeting in five minutes."

Len nodded.

Rina didn't move.

Aira turned to leave—

but at the door, she paused.

Without looking back, she said softly:

"Len… when something important starts slipping away, you can feel it."

And then she walked out.

The rooftop felt colder than ever.

Nightfall – The Unseen Observer

As Len headed home later,

rain lightly touched the streets.

Cars splashed through puddles.

Umbrellas moved like shadows.

And someone…

watched him from across the street.

The same man in the black raincoat.

Murmuring to himself:

"And now… the fracture begins."
