The Don calmly reached out his hands and palmed the boys' faces, to the great discomfort of the twins.
'What the hell is this guy doing?!' Thought the siblings as Noctis started humming rhythmically.
The pair could feel their feet lift off the floor and, no matter how hard they tried, neither of them could move. This was when a sudden jolt of electricity shot through both of them - resulting in an uncontrollable twitch. Soon after, Taiga was dropped onto his knees sweating and panting heavily. Shin, on the other hand, was still spasming under the Don's control.
"Tch," The Don scoffed
"Looks like I was wrong, Taiga, your blonde-haired buddy isn't compatible at all." The politician said while casually tossing the unconscious Shin to the side.
"What?" Asked the confused and frustrated Shin.
The Don smiled, as if he was waiting for such a question.
"We live in a multifaceted world, Taiga. Like many things in life, what you see on the surface is a far cry from how the world truly operates. While history books may have told you that, 1000 years ago when the United Nations was formed, the first Don simply chose not to join in order to avoid complying with western law, the truth could not be more different. The first Don wasn't allowed to join the UN, why you ask? It was because of his immense power."
"I know what you're talking about, Aria has the most advanced nuclear weapons in the whole world." Interrupted Taiga.
"Silence!" Reprimanded Noctis
"I am not talking about something so trivial, but rather I am speaking of the power of Fraze"
"Fraze?" Taiga became even more bewildered than he already was.
"The first Don was the first person ever to be born with a Fraze. Frazes are innate abilities that are unique to each user or group of users. Every Fraze is based on a common saying or phrase. The stronger the user, the further it evolves. Frazes come in all shapes and sizes, Taiga, for example, my Fraze is 'Sharing is Caring' - pretty infantile sounding am I right? This power allows me to grant power to people who aren't born with Frazes, unfortunately I am unable to control what the given power is and the power can be rejected if the recipient is incompatible, as seen with your brother."
"Then what did you give me?" Stammered Taiga
"I dunno," replied Vale with a grin that didn't quite reach his eyes.
"Another caveat of my power is that I have no clue what the recipient has received, but don't worry! You'll find out soon enough. :)" Noctis said as he walked towards his luxury black Rolls Royce.
"Anyways, nice chatting to you two - tell your brother I said bye!"
"Wait!" Shouted Taiga as he got up from the ground
"Why? Why have you given this to me?"
"Oh yeah! Thanks for reminding me," said the Don
"7 days. I'm giving you 7 days to get everything you need and meet me here again on this very street at this exact time - capisce?"
"To do what, you lying bastard?! You've already wasted our time spouting some bullshit about powers and Phrases, what more could you want from us?!" Exclaimed Taiga
"Well I guess it's understandable that you don't believe me, I mean who would believe the ramblings of some crazed politician. But that's beside the point, I want you here in 7 days because that's when I'll come and bring you to Aria - I really want you specifically to work for me. Don't bother with your pathetic brother. I've only got one seat in my car and it's for you, little man!"
Taiga had nothing to say other than, "How'd you become so powerful with a Fraze that benefits everyone except yourself?"
"Probably because-" the Don was cut off by the abrupt ringing of his cell phone.
"Shit, it's my wife! Ta-ta, young man. I can't wait to see you in a week's time!" The Don finally drove away playing a unique-sounding country song as he left.
"What'd I miss?" The disoriented Shin said as he woke up.
