Chapter 14 - An unexpected encounter

Two superhumans stood facing each other. Both wore masks that concealed their true identities, and both were masters of firearms.

While Jin and Deathstroke confronted each other, Penguin and Black Mask exchanged a glance. Slowly, they stepped back and disappeared into the surrounding shadows, leaving the battlefield to the two fighters.

Deathstroke spoke in a casual tone.

"Gang members against each other crime isn't something a superhero usually does. So who exactly are you?"

His posture looked completely relaxed. Neither his sword nor his gun was aimed at Jin, making it clear that he didn't consider him a serious threat.

Of course, Jin noticed this.

A faint smile appeared on his lips.

"That's none of your business. Just don't get in the way of me making money."

"Huh."

Deathstroke chuckled softly and walked toward him step by step, the distance between them becoming dangerously close.

"Then don't get in the way of my job."

The moment his words fell—

"Clang!"

Deathstroke suddenly raised his katana and slashed toward Jin's neck with lightning speed.

Jin's eyes turned cold. In an instant, he lifted his hand and blocked the blade with the hidden edge beneath the grip of White Ivory.

The two blades collided violently, sparks bursting into the air.

At the same time, Deathstroke raised his leg and kicked toward Jin's torso.

Jin blocked the strike with his other arm and stepped back several paces, using the force to create distance. Without hesitation, he raised White Ivory and Ebony and fired twice.

"Bang! Bang!"

As if he had anticipated the attack, Deathstroke dropped to the ground, narrowly dodging the bullets before raising his own pistol and pulling the trigger.

Jin moved like a phantom, his footsteps swift and light as he dodged the incoming bullets before quickly slipping behind a nearby container.

"Tch."

Seeing his attack fail, Deathstroke's expression darkened.

But in the next moment, he became the one under attack.

Jin suddenly rushed out from behind the container, both guns blazing as bullets streaked toward Deathstroke.

"Bang! Bang!"

Deathstroke sprang to his feet and began running while deflecting several bullets with his katana.

"Hmph."

His eyes sharpened as he threw a smoke bomb toward Jin.

The bomb collided with a bullet in midair and instantly exploded, filling the area with thick white smoke.

Seizing the opportunity, Deathstroke charged forward through the smoke and swung his katana, engaging Jin in close combat.

The blade slashed across Jin's chest, cutting through his black trench coat.

In response, Jin delivered a powerful roundhouse kick that struck Deathstroke's sword and knocked it aside.

Deathstroke remained calm and immediately continued the fight.

Meanwhile, Jin holstered his guns and entered close-quarters combat as well.

Both men possessed physical abilities that pushed the limits of human strength. Combined with their extensive combat experience, they were evenly matched.

While the two fought within the smoke, Penguin and Black Mask watched from the shadows.

Penguin spoke in a serious tone as he gripped his umbrella.

"This guy clearly didn't rely on guns before. He mainly fights with his fists… yet he can still keep up with Deathstroke."

Penguin narrowed his eyes.

"We need to find a way to keep him here."

Black Mask replied coldly, "You don't need to tell me that."

This was the perfect opportunity to eliminate Jin.

With Deathstroke keeping him busy, all they needed was a single bullet to secure victory.

However, the battlefield was filled with smoke, making it impossible to clearly see the fighters. To avoid accidentally hitting Deathstroke, they had hesitated to act.

After all, the smoke bomb had been thrown by Deathstroke himself.

Black Mask's eyes turned cold.

"It doesn't matter. Even if Deathstroke gets hurt, money will make him keep quiet."

He immediately raised his pistol and fired toward the figures fighting inside the smoke.

But suddenly—

"Whoosh!"

A sharp sound cut through the air.

A bat-shaped dart flew in and instantly knocked the pistol out of Black Mask's hand.

Penguin and Black Mask froze.

When they saw the Batarang lying on the ground, their expressions immediately turned ugly.

They both knew exactly who it belonged to.

Looking in the same direction, they saw a dark figure standing on top of several containers.

Batman.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the battlefield, Jin punched Deathstroke directly in the face before following up with a roundhouse kick that sent him flying backward.

At the same moment, a notification sounded in Jin's mind.

"Bang!"

Deathstroke crashed into a container after being knocked back.

When he noticed Batman standing above them, he immediately realized the situation had become unfavorable.

"Bang! Bang!"

He fired two shots to stop Jin from pursuing him, then jumped into the water and quickly escaped.

"Running already?"

Jin turned around and saw that Batman had already knocked both Penguin and Black Mask unconscious.

The speed was truly impressive.

Batman then walked toward him and handed over a briefcase filled with U.S. dollars.

"Take this. Leave the rest to me."

Jin looked at him with a strange expression.

The so-called messenger of justice was actually handing him dirty money?

Batman seemed to understand the meaning behind his gaze. The corner of his mouth lifted slightly.

"Don't worry. Since you're a little short on money recently, just take it and use it."

From Batman's perspective, the money would eventually return to him anyway.

Nearly eighty percent of Gotham's banks were under Bruce Wayne's control. Once the money circulated through the system, it would effectively return to him.

At that moment, his tone didn't sound like Batman.

It sounded more like Bruce Wayne—Jin's friend.

Jin didn't refuse. He took the briefcase and said with a smile,

"Come to your place for dinner sometime soon. I'll also check on that kid Jason."

Because of his relationship with Bruce, Jin had already visited Wayne Manor before. That was how he learned that Jason was Robin, and that Nightwing—Dick—had once been the previous Robin.
