— Vought Tower, General POV —
'That man child can't do anything right.' Stan Edgar thought to himself as he watched the news.
Recently, there was a terrorist attack on a flight from Paris to Chicago.
This was the perfect opportunity to display to the politicians and public the potential benefit of having Supes in the military, and yet, their 'Golden Child', supposed strongest man on the planet had managed to fuck it up and crash the plane he was meant to save.
Luckily for Vought, there were no survivors, which meant no witness to the absolute failure of Homelander- Vought's public face.
Stan wouldn't admit it out loud, however he had to give the man child the credit he deserved. If he was good at something it was to take a hold of a story and twist it to fit his needs.
After his fuck up, he somehow managed to turn things around to make it seem like it was the politicians fault for not keeping Supes in line of command.
Stan gave one last look at Homelander's face before shutting off the TV. 'Let's see how this plays out.'
— A Couple of Days Later, General POV —
Luke and Andre approached Tyler and Adem who were chilling in the school yard.
"Hey guys." Luke said
"Hey man," Adem greeted him with a fist bump. They had grown a little closer over the past month by beating the crap out of each other dozens of times.
"My dad got me tickets for this event. If you guys are interested, I have some extra tickets to this Believe Expo." Andre said
"Believe… expo?" Adem asked, that sounded familiar.
"I am Hindu," Tyler said, getting a raised eyebrow from Adem, "That's some Christian Supes Expo."
Adem gave Andre a look that said 'Really?'
"I'm inviting the entire class," Andre said in his defense,
"Well, I am not really religious per say," Adem said, getting a nod from both Luke and Andre, most Supes were not REALLY religious. "Although my parents were Muslim so I was raised as such," He said and this caused Andre to frown, "You have a problem with that?"
Ever since last week- where a Flight was hijacked by middle eastern terrorists, the hate towards Muslims in America had grown to the levels never before seen. Of course, no one really dared antagonize Adem, heck, most people probably didn't know his origin.
Luke sensing the tensions rising jumped between them "He doesn't have a problem with it."
"He is a big boy, he can talk for himself," Adem said.
Andre stayed silent for a moment, "No… no, I don't have a problem. Although-" Luke grabbed him and dragged him away,
"See you guys in Brink's class!" He shouted
"Asshole." Adem mumbled. He never liked Andre. He always got the impression that he was a dude you just can't trust. The type who'd fuck his best friend's girl.
"Don't mind him. He is just being an idiot." Tyler said, getting a shrug from his friend.
"I don't care. But I'm no longer gonna go easy on him during the spars." He said,
"Dude, chill a little. If you don't hold back, his father won't have a corpse to identify." Tyler said but Adem just shrugged,
"Fine, I'll just break an arm or two," he said.
"Well… I'm sure that should be fine." Tyler said with a small chuckle.
Adem gave a small nod as he thought about all the news articles about him, even those in the Vought official page in introducing him.
He was always- ALWAYS referred to as Adam Aslan, never as Adem Aslan. Even after he corrected them again and again.
It might just be a single letter, but it felt like they were trying to Christianize his name- him. Or at least present him as such to the public.
"I don't like this…"
— With Luke and Andre, General POV —
"Look man, you do not want to anger Adem, especially for such a dumb reason!" Luke said to his best friend as he pulled him away.
"I know, I know, it's just- *sigh* I'm sorry man. My high school Math teacher died in the crash. He was a good man." Andre said as Luke placed a hand on his shoulder.
"I'm sorry to hear that. If you wanna talk about it, I'm here." Luke said with a compassionate look on his face.
"Thanks. I- I think I'll be fine after a few more days. It's just- I read about attacks all the time and- well- unless it involves someone you know, it doesn't feel real. You know." Andre tried to explain but he couldn't find the right words. "They feel more like- more like characters in a story and not real people."
Luke didn't say anything. He just let his friend rant.
After Andre was done, he took him to a bar and got drunk with him.
— Dean's Office General POV —
Dean Shetty sat on her desk as a drop of tear fell from her cheek.
She was a woman who had risen through the corporate ladder, found herself in one of the most influential positions in the country as the Dean of Godolkin, THE University of Super Heroes.
In order to reach her position she had done some unsavory things, and had amassed great control over her emotions. However, today none of it mattered.
She had received the news that both her 11 year old daughter and husband passed away after the Flight they were on was hijacked by terrorists, and the plane 'lost' control.
The Homelander gave a heartfelt speech about how it was terrible they weren't allowed to help. However, she was one of the few who was privy to the real truth.
That Homelander and Queen Maeve interfered with the hijacking and that's why the plane crashed in the first place.
Dean Shetty looked out of her window to the uncaring scores of Supes walking the campus.
They were laughing, making out, doing pot, and using their inhuman abilities willy nally.
'They bring nothing but destruction wherever they go. They are nothing but diseased animals that need to be put down.'
