— General POV —
It had been a little over a week since the Believe Expo.
Cate was acting as if nothing happened, but Adem could no longer do that.
"Cate… We need to talk," Adem said, causing his girlfriend's heart to beat faster. "About what happened at the expo,"
"I- I don't know what you are talking about." She said as she tried to leave. But he grabbed her arm.
"Please Cate… I just wanna help." He said. He then let go of her arm and stared at her big blue eyes.
Cate put her arms behind her body as she fiddled a little.
Adem didn't say or do anything. He just stared at her, but then she placed her hand on his face.
"Forget about what you have seen." She commanded but her eyes widened when she realized something was amiss
"Cate… I can't forget what I've seen. Please, just talk to me." He said as he grabbed her hand and rubbed it gently.
"I- I- I don't…" A tear fell down from her right eye. "I don't remember the whole ordeal but- but hearing Starlight talk about her experience reminded me of my own." She said as she placed her head on his chest "And unlike her, I deserved everything that happened to me."
Adem was doing his best to contain the rage brewing within him.
"You haven't- no one deserves something like that."
"We were camping." Cate began to sob. "I was nine. My parents were setting up the tent. My little brother kept kicking at my shins, so I grabbed him by the arm and I told him to go away and never come back. So he did. He just walked right into the woods. That was the first time my powers showed up." She revealed and to say Adem was shocked was an understatement.
"I'm sorry…" he said as he placed a kiss on top of her head
"There was a... search party. Dogs. You know? It went on for weeks. But… nothing. My mom never touched me again. Neither did my dad." She said in between sobs.
Adem didn't know what to say. What could he say?
He just held her in his arms and let her sob all night long.
Once she woke up, he was still there, holding her closely.
"Morning Cate…" he said as he gave her a kiss
"Morning…" she said as she returned the kiss
"Cate, There is still one other thing I need to know… what did you mean when you said you remembered what happened to you?"
"A few days before you and I met… I met Rufus in Intro Psych. He said he liked my gloves. And then... 3 days later I woke up in a random bed with a camera pointed at me. He saw I was awake, smiled, and said, "Make this weird, and I'll wipe you again".
A chill washed over Adem.
He was shaking. He no longer felt like he was going to be able to control himself.
"1…2…3…4…5…6…7…8…9…10…" he tried counting to 10 method to calm himself but it barely did anything.
"I'm gonna take care of this…" he said as he got up.
"Adem? What are you gonna do?"
"I just wanna talk with him…" Adem said as he walked out of the room,
"What are you gonna do to him?!"
"I just wanna talk with him…" he repeated as his eyes began to glow red and he disappeared from his spot.
He flew into Rufus' room and grabbed the little turd by the throat. Then flew him 5 miles above sea level.
"Hello Rufus…"
"A- Adem, He- hello man, what's up," Rufus said as he looked down. He then tried to use his powers on Adem, but it wasn't working.
"What's up is, Rufus, I learned what you have done to Cate."
"Done Cate what?" He asked
"The fact that you raped her,"
"I- I never done-" Adem cut her off
"I have Super Senses Rufus. I can tell when someone is lying. You see, a part of me wants to rip out your heart and make you eat it, which is a very simple thing for me to do, however, I don't think you would want that, would you?" He asked, and the shorter teen shooked his head 'no', "Alright then. You and I are going to play a game. I will give you 3 options. You are going to pick one of them. 1) I'll drop you now and watch you fall. 2) I rip out your dick and watch you bleed to death. 3) I take you to the cops and you confess to every rape you have ever done. Excluding the one of Cate. If you haven't pick in the next 5 seconds, I'll choose for you… 1… 2…3-"
Rufus cut him off "I pick 3! I'll confess! Please just put me down! Safely!"
"Good for you Rufus… Good for you…" Adem said as he flew down and placed Rufus gently in front of the police station. "And Rufus, remember, I can get you anywhere, any time I want… I know when you are lying and when you are hiding something… so make sure to not leave out any details to our friends in the blue" he said as he watched Rufus run into the police building.
Rufus then went onto confess raping 12 woman, and wiping their memories.
Seeing Rufus confess, Adem flew back to the dorms and went to see Cate.
"What happened?!" She asked, clearly distraught.
"We had a talk, and I convinced him to confess his crimes. Don't worry, he did not mention you, just his other crimes. Even that would get him life in prison. But if you want, I am sure I can convince him to confess to that as well." Adem said.
Cate just shook her head and then gave him a nice smile. "Thank you… Thank you for everything."
(AN: I don't think Rufus raped Cate in canon, it seemed like she lied about it to take everyone off of her mind control trail. I am just writing this because I hate Rufus. The actor did a great job.)
