Chapter 16 - Chapter 16

— General POV —

'So this a religious expo, huh?' The dark haired Supe asked as he looked around. There were tens of thousands of people around. None new the other but came to this place to reaffirm their faith in the big man in the sky. 'This would have been a nice affair if each person here didn't spend enough money to feed a 100+ people to be here,' he thought as a blonde thug he'd his shirt.

"There they are!" Cate said in an excited tone as she ran up to Jenna and her friends.

"Hey guys!" Jenna said before hugging Cate and Adem.

"These are my friends from Christian Supe Youths. Alex Gaston, Henrietta Daveson, and Clara Ozzy."

"Hey I'm Cate," she said with a nod in their direction.

"And I'm Adem, nice to meet you all," he said.

"Likewise." Alex said as he shook Adem's hand.

Adem could tell Alex was stronger than average Supe, but compared to him, not that impressive.

"I have seen you somewhere…" Adem said to Alex.

"He is Number 6," Cate supplied.

'Oh right. The rankings.' Adem thought as he remembered the beating the Number 1 had given to Alex on day 1.

"Yeah, I'm sure both of you will eventually reach there," he said in a supportive tone.

"Thanks." Adem said. He was indifferent to the rankings. He was fairly sure Luke could beat the entire Top 10, let alone him.

"Anyways, Cate and I really not familiar with this whole scene, so we are hoping you can show us around," Adem said and Alex nods his head,

"Sure." Alex, Henrietta, Jenna, and Clara then took them to a quick tour of the entire expo. Gave a couple of stories from the Bible that Adem found to be quite boring, although he just nodded his head.

Cate seemed to enjoy herself, but it was evident she enjoyed the fact she was out with friends rather than the fact she was in a religious expo.

Shortly after their tour was complete, Ezekiel- one of the premier Christian Supes made a speech.

Adem didn't really care much for the speech. He was saying crap about Jesus being a Supe. At least he was until Homelander showed up!

Then Adem paid full attention.

In the past, he was a Superman fan, and here, he was a huge Homelander fan.

"A terrible tragedy befell our nation this week." Homelander began. "Terrible. And let's not mince words about this. We... were... attacked. America was attacked. Some people... they want me to come out here and speak empty platitudes to you all. A little bit of corporate talk. But I don't want to do that. I can't do that. You want to know why? Why? Because I believe that what God wants me to do is get on over there, find the filthy bastards that masterminded this, whatever cave they're in, and introduce them to a little thing called God's judgment! That's what I think! Sounds like the American thing to do! Sounds like the right thing to do. But no. No, no, no. Apparently, I got to wait for Congress to say it's okay. Right? I say I answer to a higher law. Wasn't I chosen to save you? Is it not my God-given purpose to protect the United States of America? Psalm 58: The righteous shall rejoice when he sees the vengeance and he will bathe his feet in the blood of the wicked."

People were chanting Homelander's name, and Adem was staring in disbelief.

'I think- I think this world might be more like the Injustice Verse.' He thought as he looked at everyone.

Even Jenna, Alex, Clara, and Henrietta were chanting. 'God damn religious nuts.' He thought before looking towards Cate, thank god she looked just as confused as him.

— A Couple of Hours Later —

Starlight was on the center stage.

She had gone through a lot these past couple of months. And now, she was meant to give a speech about how great God and the Seven is.

Except she did not.

Instead she called everyone here out on their shit, said the Deep shove a dick in her mouth and that she was done taking shit.

Alex looked distraught when he heard the news, but Adem was probably the most shocked person.

'I actually read about Starlight, powers wise, she can put up a fight against Speedsters and considering the fact that Deep is the fucking Aquaman of the Seven, she should have been able to beat the crap out of him…' he thought before noticing Cate was shaking

Adem quickly gave her a one armed hug. "Want me to take you back?" He asked, after she gave a nod Adem told the rest of the group he didn't feel well, and Cate and he were going back and then flew Cate back to her dorm.

However, Adem didn't leave Cate alone. He went in there with her and stayed there all night with her. He didn't sleep at all.

He just contemplated what the fuck happened in Cate's past that made her hyperventilate upon hearing Starlight's situation…

— Next Morning —

Come morning, Adem went to his room and his eyes widened in shock.

"You fucking whore! I never wanna see you again!" A black woman shouted as she threw his bed at Tyler who phased through the bed but the bed crashed into the wall and turned into smithereens.

"Wai- I can explain…" Tyler tried to calm her down.

"My MOTHER?! How could you fuck my mother?!" She screamed.

Tyler looked at Adem for help,

"You two look busy, I'll come back later." He said as he shut the door and walked away.

*Ding*

Adem frowned at what he saw

The Top 10 was updated!

Number 1. Light Speed- John Johnson

Number 2. Psion- Luigi Mario

Number 3. Red Fox- Redford Kurama

Number 4. Moonshadow- Abigail Blake

Number 5. Supersonic- Alex de Souza

Number 6. Luckless- Jennifer Thompson

Number 7. Flamer- Penny White

Number 8. Lonestar- David Driver

Number 9. Citadel- Carmelo Whitemore

Number 10. Khan- Adam Aslan

A freshman was placed in the Top 10!

This happens almost every year, a powerful freshman comes and enters the Top 10 with ease.

Heck, everyone in the school was expecting Adem to enter the Top 10. It was not a question of 'will he enter', but rather 'when will he enter'.

His powers alone assured that.

However, the man himself was not happy with what he had just seen.

Once again, he was called Adam Aslan, rather than Adem Aslan.

'I know it's just one letter, but…' He reasoned before shaking his head. 'This shit doesn't matter. What matters right now is Cate.' He thought as he made a promise to be more proactive in learning more about his girlfriend's past.
