Chapter 12 - Chapter 10

— God U. Cafe, General POV —

Cate took a deep breath, trying to calm herself, she was quite nervous. This was the first date she had been on in… forever.

Having spent her childhood practically locked away from everyone did not really give her much opportunities to date, nor did her powers made her approachable.

Even in a school full of Supes, people were going out of their way to avoid, and she couldn't really blame them. She knew full well how dangerous her powers were.

But Adem was different. He didn't care about her powers and treated her just like any other girl.

'It's probably due to his powers…' she admitted. After all, he was arguably the strongest Supe in the campus- heck one of the strongest Supes on the planet.

She shook her head as she saw him enter the cafe. He was wearing a white v neck shirt, navy blue jeans, wore a necklace with silver Yin-Yang symbol, as well as Omega Moonwatch.

"Hey Cate, you look wonderful," Adem said as he took a brief, yet careful look at Cate.

She had her hair and nails done, wore a red jacket over a white shirt, blue jeans, and had her ever present red gloves on.

"Thanks," she said as she tugged her hair behind her ear. "You look quite dashing,"

'Dashing? That's kinda old timey,' he thought to himself as he excused himself to grab a cup of joe.

"So Cate, why don't you tell me about yourself?" He asked once he sat down.

She began to feel a little panicked, "Um, okay, um, I had a normal childhood, and um, everything was ordinary. What about you?"

Adem nods his head. He didn't need his super hearing to tell Cate was obviously lying.

"Same, I had a normal childhood. I didn't even get my powers until last year," he said with a shrug.

"That explains why you aren't all that famous." She said and he nods

"Yeah, but honestly, I am not that into this whole fame thing most people around here seem to care so much about." He admitted.

"So you want to be a hero for the money, or are you one of those selfless types?" She asked

"Neither." He admits, getting her to raise an eyebrow. "Now don't get me wrong. Making tons of money to help people is great and all. But really, I am only doing this hero business to see what I can achieve."

"How so?"

"I have all these powers. Naturally I want to see what my body is capable of. And if you ask me, being a hero and helping others is the best way to do so. Some might think it is a dumb or even selfish reason to be a hero- just to see what I can do. But it's my life, and I'll do what I want with it." He said, causing a small smile to appear on her face.

"Doing what you want, huh?" She mumbled, "That must be a nice way to live your life."

"It can be. Although there are a lot of people who will tell you what to do."

She stayed silent for a moment. She was reminded about her parents, who locked her up after she- she killed her brother. And then Dean Shetty comes to her house/cage and convinces her to attend God U. "How do you know who to listen to?"

Adem could smell the anxiety in her "I don't. Not really. Sometimes there'll be an asshole or two who manages to get one over me, they'll tell me it is for my own good, and I'll believe them only to find out it was to serve their needs. But I think if you find people you can trust and surround yourself with them, you'll eventually know who to listen to."

Cate contemplates what she had heard. "What- what if you can't trust yourself?"

"I don't really know. Since I always believe in myself. But I suppose if you can't believe in yourself, you need to find someone who does." He said as he took her hand into his,

She gave a small nod and a smile before asking him questions after question.

The questions ranged from trivial things such as his favorite color- red- his horoscope- Lion- to more important topics such as his family and powers.

After he was done answering all of them, which took about 2 hours, he walked Cate back to her dorm.

"Well… Thanks…" Cate said

"Yeah…" Adem said as she leaned in and gave a kiss on the lips.

"What was that for?" He asked

"To see if I wanted a second date,"

"And?" She kissed him once more

"Definitely."

— Couple Minutes Later —

I entered my dorm room and was immediately greeted to the sight of my roommate playing a guitar, wearing just his underwear.

"Today it's gonna be the day…By now you should have realized what you not to do. I don't believe anybody feels the way I do… about you nooooow…" Tyler continued singing, causing me to sigh at his antics.

"You have been playing the same 4 songs over and over again. Aren't you tired by now?" I asked, I was tired of hearing Wonderwall 20th time this week.

"You only need to play a couple of songs before you can write it as a skill in your headshot, and most girls are impressed by these 4 songs anyways." He said as he pointed towards the girl who was asleep on his bed.

"When did you- I have Super Senses, how didn't I notice her?" I mumbled before getting a chuckle from Tyler.

"You seem kinda out of it, so date with Cate either went really well, or terrible," He said,

"It went alright, but not as good as your date, obviously… Also, can you cover her up," He asked as he was currently staring at her bare ass.

"Don't you have like X-Ray vision, what good is a blanket gonna do?" Tyler asked as he put a blanket on top of her.

Adem had to admit it was a fair point, but "It's the principle of it. Plus, "I wouldn't use it like that." He said as he looked away. He wouldn't admit he took several glances at Cate naked today.

"You know, if this hero thing doesn't work. Don't try acting. You are a shitty liar."

Adem did not argue any more, instead he simply said."And you know, in Professor Brinks class today we will be having sparring matches, right?"

"Oh you bloody cunt…"
