— The Next Day, God U., Adem's POV —
"And I thought Ezra Miller was bad…" I mumbled as I read the news about the A-Train, a member of the Seven, running through a civilian… Literally running through a civilian.
"Can't stop the A-Train baby!" Another freshman with blond hair said and his friends chuckled.
I just shook my head as he put down the phone.
"Settle down everyone." A familiar voice echoed through the classroom as a man in his 60s stepped into the class. "I am sure by now you have all heard what transpired yesterday
considering A-Train. We are here to make sure nothing like that happens while you are on the field." The man said as he walked to the front of the class and wrote down his name.
"My name is Professor Richard Brinkerhoff. Feel free to call me Professor Brink." He introduced himself and I remembered where I had heard this man before.
'He kinda sounds like Mr. Krabs,' I thought as the class door once again opened and the blonde girl from yesterday walked in.
"Ah Ms. Dunlap. You are late." Professor Brink said to the girl with a stern scowl
"I'm, um, sorry sir. I was lost." She said with a slightly sheepish look on her face.
He nods his head, "I will make an exception for today as it is the first day, however, I do not tolerate tardiness in my class." He then pointed towards me, "Take a seat next to Mr. Aslan,"
She nods her head and keeps her head down as she walks towards where I am
"Hey," I greet her, "The name's Adem,"
"Cate," she says shortly before Professor Brinks addresses the class once again.
"Now, I want everyone to quickly introduce themselves and give a brief description of their powers." Brinks said,
Everyone gave a brisk description of their powers, only a few caught my attention.
"I'm Tyler Oppenheim, I'm strong and can go intangible," Tyler was the first who introduced himself.
"I'm Samuel Schecht, call me Maverick, I can turn invisible, and am quite durable." Like father like son.
"I'm Andre Anderson, I'm strong and have magnetokinesis." Kinda like Magneto, wonder how he does against a wooden gun
"Hello, I'm Jordan Li, um, I'm physically stronger than your average Supe and I can change forms to a female where in exchange for some durability I can blast energy," Ivankov with extra steps.
"Hey, I'm Steve Stevenson, I can regenerate, plus, I'm super strong and durable. " the 6'9 African American with vibrant blue eyes introduced himself.
"I'm Rufus Calvert, I have telepathy and clairvoyance," He kinda looks like Jack from Supernatural- except blond.
"I'm David Davidson, I'm a Speedster." Another one? How many of them are there?
"Nice to meet you all, I'm Luke Riordan, I'm super strong, durable, I can fly, and have pyrokinesis." Damn, he has nearly as many powers as I do.
"Cate Dunlop, I'm a telepath, and um, can persuade others by touch." She said, and that caught everyone's attention.
After Cate's introduction almost everyone in the class gave her an incredulous look.
While there are dozens of Supes with mental abilities, including telepathy and even minor memory manipulation, there are only a handful with powers to outright control others.
"Alright then, Mr. Aslan, why don't you tell us about yourself?" Brink said, trying to reel in the class.
"Right, hi, nice to meet you all, I'm Adem Aslan. I have the Flying Brick package alongside heat vision and super senses." As soon as I introduced myself, class went off in an uproar.
My powers were eerily similar to Homelander's.
"Quite down!" Brink said once and there was a tone of authority in his voice that made all the Super abled kids in the class listen to him. "Now that introductions are done, we are going to go over a power apperception test, to see whom amongst you is capable of the hero work." Brink said.
— General POV —
After everyone changed to the clothes God U. provided, it was regular gym clothes, they made their way towards the gym meant to test the Supes to their utmost limit.
"Now before we start, let me make it clear, those who perform exceptionally well in this test can be directly promoted to Top 10, however, if I believe you to be unable to perform up to the standard of heroism, I will personally drop you from my class and the hero course." As soon as Brink said so everyone stiffened.
"Hey Professor Brinks, this is highly unfair to those of us who possess non physical powers!" Rufus shouted his complaint.
"Oh, and you think natural disasters are, or mass murderers. Hmm? Or terrorist attacks that wipe out whole cities. No... the world is full of unfairness. You either have to adapt or give up on your dreams of becoming a hero." Brink said with finality in his tone. After that, nobody argued.
"The first task is a 40 yard dash." He said and David, the Speedster, smirked.
They all went one by one, all 20 Supes.
David blew everyone out of competition. Finishing the race in 0.176 seconds.
The second fastest was Adem at 0.380 seconds, followed closely by Luke who finished the dash in 0.596 seconds.
The slowest ones were Cate and Rufus, who got 4.5 and 4.426 seconds respectively.
"The second test will be Bench Press, we will be testing your one rep max." Brink said and the 20 students once again went to see what they could do.
Adem got first place in this test, benching 100 tons, which was the max available in the testing ground. The second place was Luke with 1 rep max of 90.5 tons.
The last place was once again Cate. She only managed to bench 250 lbs, which, while impressive for a human- especially a female- was one of the lowest recorded Supe Hero results.
"On to the third test. We will see how well you hold yourself in a fight. Now who to start with…" Brinks said as his eyes wandered until it hit an invisible figure, "Mr. Maverick, I have taught your father before any of you were born, and am curious whether or not you live up to his legacy. Why don't you get us started?"
Maverick nods his head and turned invisible.
"Who wants to go up against Mr. Maverick?" Brinks asked and a few hands went up, but the one Brinks was directly staring at was none other than, "Mr. Aslan, let's see if you know how to use your powers."
Adem nodded his head as he walked towards the invisible form of Maverick, who suddenly began to undress.
"Um… Can you put on some clothes?" Adem asked,
"I can't make them invisible, so I have to go naked if I'm gonna have a shot against you," Maverick said, causing Adem to nod but tell him something that sent a chill down his spine,
"You know I have super senses, right? I can see you just fine," He said and Maverick began to panic.
His father had always told him that while he can fight against Speedsters, Pyrokinetics, and even Nigh-Invulnerable heroes, the one person they won't stand any chance against is Homelander. And now, he was facing someone with the exact same power set!
"Begin!" Brisk said.
Maverick tried to run, but to Adem who had Super Senses, it was a futile effort.
He appeared before him, and punched him in the stomach, as gentle as he could, causing the teen to double over.
Seeing that Maverick can take it, he increased the output to double that and punched him once again, this time knocking him unconscious.
There was a small chatter going around, "HA! That's what I'm talking about!" Brink said with widened eyes 'I had read the reports, but I did not believe it… They gave me the Next Homelander!'
After a moment, he looked at the unconscious form of Maverick, 'He is not quite as durable as his dad,'
"Adem, take Mr. Maverick to the medical bay," Brink said, using Adem's first name.
Adem just nods his head before noticing the guy- while invisible- was completely naked, "Um, does anyone have a blanket I can borrow? I do not want to touch his naked butt."
