Chapter 20 - Chapter 20 Communication and Sending Letters at the Dinner Table

At dinner time.

Sylvar Crowe, who had been concentrating his magic power in his room, finally opened the door, stepped out, walked down the corridor, and entered the cafeteria. When he saw that everyone in the squad was already seated there, he could not help but feel a surge of anticipation. Maybe this time I can replenish enough magic power!

Asta waved his hand and said with a smile, "Come on, Sylvar! If you didn't come soon, I was going to call you!"

Sylvar walked to the table and sat down. He said, "It's fine. I usually come to eat by myself. If I don't come, it means I'm practicing deeply and don't have time."

After responding to Asta, Sylvar straightened his back, looked at everyone present, and said loudly, "I'm about to go on my second adventure to another world. I hope everyone can lend me some magic power. If I encounter interesting things in the other world, I'll bring them back for you."

The moment he finished speaking, everyone started talking at once. Some asked him to bring wine. Some asked him to bring ingredients. Some asked him to bring strange tools. The restaurant instantly became noisy.

Captain Yami suddenly slammed his hand on the table and shouted, "Silence. Let him continue."

At once, everyone stiffened. The people who had half-risen from their seats slowly sat back down. The noise disappeared.

Sylvar witnessed the captain's intimidating presence. He coughed lightly and continued, "Because each time I travel to another world, the energy consumption is extremely high, I will reserve a large amount of magic power to prevent accidents."

"Although the magic power I borrowed a few days ago is enough to travel, in order to be safe, I need more magic power as a precaution."

"So please, I need everyone's help. Please give me more magic power."

Captain Yami leaned back and made a strange expression. "What a ridiculous magic. As long as you have enough magic power, you can travel to another world at will. That's insane."

Sylvar said, "The travel is completely random. Even I don't know where I'll appear or whether there will be danger."

"Even if it's random, it's still insane," Captain Yami said. "But I've seen even more insane magic."

Sylvar thought to himself, I've seen even more insane things.

Magna immediately slapped the table and said, "Do you even need to ask? Just take my magic!"

Sylvar looked at him and said with a smile, "Senior Magna, that's handsome."

Luck leaned forward and said, "When you become stronger, fight me."

Sylvar nodded and said, "Okay."

Vanessa raised her glass and said, "Don't forget to bring back fine wine from the other world. You promised us last time. Don't forget."

Sylvar said, "No problem."

Charmy raised her fork and said, "Bring back recipes from the other world. And ingredients!"

Sylvar nodded. "Okay."

Gordon showed a smile on his pale face and said softly, "As long as I can help my friends, nothing is a problem."

However, his voice was too soft. Sylvar did not hear it, but the smile still made him feel a chill.

Gray covered her white mask with both hands and muttered, "So embarrassing… but if it's for our friends, it's fine."

Sylvar nodded again. "Okay."

Gauche crossed his arms and said, "As for me, bring anything you want. Toys are fine. I want to give them to my sister Marie."

Sylvar thought for a moment and said, "If I'm lucky this time, I'll bring back a doll. Maybe a teddy bear."

The moment he finished speaking, killing intent flashed in Gauche's eyes.

"You bastard," Gauche said coldly. "What do you mean? Are you interested in my sister? I'll kill you, you bastard."

Sylvar immediately waved his hands and said, "I haven't even seen your sister. How could I possibly—"

Before he could finish, Gauche roared, "That means you'll do something indecent when you see her! I'll kill you, you bastard!"

Sylvar felt his head spin. He raised his voice and said, "Your logic is gangster logic. No normal human being would be interested in a child who's only a few years old, okay?!"

Gauche had already taken out his grimoire and was about to use Mirror Magic, but he paused.

He touched his chin and asked suspiciously, "Are you a normal human being?"

Sylvar said, "Isn't that nonsense? How could I not be a normal human being?"

Noelle folded her arms and looked away. "Since you saved my life during the Dungeon mission, I will generously reward you. You should be grateful."

Sylvar's expression twitched slightly, but he held it in. He could not argue with this stubborn tsundere. If she refused to give him magic power, he would be in trouble.

Captain Yami scratched his head and said, "Take my magic too. When you get to the other world, bring more of that medicine from last time. The past few days have been amazing. Absolutely amazing."

"It's just a pity you only brought back seven boxes last time."

Seven boxes?!

Sylvar's eyes widened. He began complaining in his heart. How many pills did you take per day? You finished seven boxes?!

If I calculate it…

On average, that's about ten pills a day.

What the hell.

How many times did he even go to the bathroom in a day?

You can't eat too much of that stuff!

Forget it. I absolutely cannot say this out loud. If I do, I might get beaten to death.

One by one, the members stepped forward. They placed their hands on Sylvar's grimoire pages and infused their magic power. The pages absorbed the magic power and sealed it.

With everyone's help, Sylvar obtained one hundred and sixty units of magic power, using himself as the basic unit.

There was more than last time because Gauche contributed seventy percent of his capacity this time, and Magna contributed ninety percent. That was why the total was higher.

Captain Yami suddenly asked, "By the way, how was the harvest from the Dungeon?"

When he heard that, Sylvar immediately leaned close to Captain Yami and whispered in his ear, "About two mountains of gold and several hundred magic tools."

Captain Yami blinked once. Then his eyes lit up.

He immediately grabbed Sylvar by the collar, lifted him, walked two steps, then paused, turned around, and grabbed Asta as well.

He cleared his throat and said calmly, "Everyone, continue eating. Don't wait for us."

The squad members had never seen such a bright smile on Captain Yami's face before. They all stared in curiosity.

What did they say?

What could make the captain so happy?

Captain Yami turned his face cold and said "Hm" through his nose. No one dared to ask more questions. They all lowered their heads and continued eating obediently.

They all looked like good children.

After reaching a quiet balcony, Captain Yami immediately asked in a low voice, "How much did you report? Did you silence anyone?"

A drop of cold sweat slid down Sylvar's forehead. "Nothing has been reported yet. But Klaus, Yuno, and Mimosa all know about it, Captain Yami."

He still felt uneasy about Captain Yami's personality.

So Sylvar added, "Captain Yami, at least part of it has to be handed over."

Captain Yami fell silent for a moment. Then he chuckled. "How could I possibly do something like that?"

Sylvar said, "That's good. I'm about to travel to another world. I can't personally hand over the treasure from the Dungeon. But it's too valuable. I can't let someone weak handle it."

He smiled and continued, "The only candidate is the wise and brave captain."

Captain Yami gave him a look that clearly said, You're sensible.

The captain was a gambler who never won. He had been short of money for a long time. Every time he received his salary, he lost it all at the gambling table.

Extra money would make him extremely happy.

Sylvar glanced at Asta, who stood beside them looking confused, and still felt uneasy.

He leaned closer to Captain Yami and whispered, "Hand over all the magic tools. As for the gold coins, just hand over a portion. No one knows how much I have anyway."

Captain Yami looked impatient. "Let's go now. By the way, Asta, you don't know anything tonight, right?"

As he spoke, he made a finger-pinching gesture.

Crack.

Asta jumped in fright. "Yes! I don't know anything today!"

In truth, Asta genuinely did not understand a single word of the conversation. He had not even felt curious. He had only been thinking about returning to the table to eat more meat.

Under Captain Yami's murderous gaze, Asta surrendered innocently.

Captain Yami then dragged Sylvar to a dusty warehouse. Sylvar opened his grimoire and released the sealed treasures. Gold coins poured out. Magical tools piled up. The warehouse, which had never been filled before, was almost packed full.

He left only a few thousand gold coins sealed inside the pages for daily use.

Captain Yami's eyes sparkled. "I've never seen so much money. It's a pity other people know about this. Should we kill them? It would be perfect to pay off all our debts."

Cold sweat dripped down Sylvar's face. "Captain Yami, stop joking. Attacking fellow Magic Knights is a serious crime. And they're from the Golden Dawn."

Captain Yami sighed regretfully. "What a pity."

Sylvar could only nod. "Yeah. What a pity."

Captain Yami called for Finral to handle the transfer later. After paying off his debts, he planned to return to the gambling tables.

Sylvar went back to the dining table and continued eating.

He remembered Vanessa asking for wine earlier. Last time, he had only taken out a few bottles of baijiu. This time, he decided to take out other wines as well.

I wonder which world I'll go to next?

The moment he placed the bottles on the table, Vanessa's eyes lit up. "What kind of wine is this? Let me taste wine from another world."

She picked up a bottle, opened it, and took a sip.

The next second, she fell backward.

Sylvar glanced at the label.

Vodka.

Luck leaned forward. "Are there strong people in the other world? I want to fight them."

Sylvar said, "You said that last time too. When I find a solution, I'll take you. Don't rush, Senior Luck."

Magna asked, "What kind of people are there in the other world?"

Sylvar replied, "Probably similar to this world. There are good people and bad people."

Charmy leaned closer. "Ingredients from another world. I want them."

Sylvar said, "It's impossible to take people there right now. I tried freezing a rabbit with ice magic. When I brought it back, it was dead."

"My freezing magic can preserve living creatures temporarily as long as the ice isn't broken. But they die after returning. So I can't let everyone go yet."

Luck said, "Eh."

Magna said, "Eh."

Gordon said softly, "I also want to adventure in another world with my companions."

No one heard him.

After finishing their meal, Sylvar called Asta aside. They walked into the corridor.

Sylvar said, "Let's go to Hage Village together."

Asta blinked. "Didn't we go there a few days ago?"

Sylvar said, "I was drunk that time. And Yuno wasn't there. The three of us left together. We should go back together."

After thinking for a moment, Sylvar decided to send the letter himself. He would ask Yuno to go to the entrance of the black market alley tomorrow if he was free.

They could pick up Yuno there and then go to Hage Village together.

The letter would be sent tonight.

The reply would arrive tomorrow morning.

Asta nodded. "Yuno should receive the letter soon."

Sylvar said, "Of course. A specially bred space owl won't fly slowly to deliver a letter. It'll swish straight into Yuno's hands."
