On the evening of the sixth day…
Sylvar Crowe suddenly felt that something was wrong.
It was as if a sudden intuition had appeared in his mind. A deep sense of unease surged through him, wave after wave.
Sylvar thought, could this feeling mean that a giant dragon is coming?
He immediately acted.
He stepped onto the magic broom. The broom rose rapidly into the sky. While flying upward, Sylvar used Condensation to strengthen his vision and extend his sight farther into the distance.
He scanned the horizon carefully.
Then he saw it.
A giant dragon was flying from the north.
Sylvar quickly estimated the distance.
It was roughly four thousand meters away.
Even with Condensation strengthening his vision, what he could see was only a tiny red dot in the distance.
Sylvar frowned.
For a creature like a dragon, a distance of four kilometers would only take one or two minutes to cross.
Sylvar immediately lowered his head and shouted toward the ground.
"Lelei! The dragon is coming!"
"Evacuate the elves immediately!"
"Move the old and weak away from the village!"
"Have the young elves go to the magic traps and prepare to inject magic power!"
"When I give the order, start pouring magic power into them!"
When the elves heard that a dragon was attacking, they became confused.
They looked at each other.
But when they looked up and saw Sylvar in the sky, they could feel the dense aura of magic power radiating from him.
The magic power felt almost tangible.
Soon after, panic began to spread.
Lelei immediately reacted.
She looked at the panicking elves and shouted loudly.
"Everyone calm down!"
"We are already prepared to deal with the dragon!"
"Everything is proceeding according to the plan!"
"Do not panic!"
Orders were quickly issued.
Some of the elderly elves and the young children were escorted away from the village.
The young and strong elves moved toward their designated positions.
They rushed to the magic traps that had been arranged earlier.
At that moment, Sylvar watched the dragon approach.
From the moment Sylvar discovered the dragon, it took only fifty seconds for the dragon to reach a distance of several hundred meters from him.
The dragon was flying incredibly fast.
Sylvar stared at it.
With Condensation enhancing his sight, he could clearly see every scale on the dragon's body.
After looking carefully, Sylvar thought something.
Honestly…
It looked more like a winged lizard than a dragon.
And it was a little ugly.
Suddenly, Sylvar thought to himself.
Maybe I don't even want this thing anymore.
But there might be a little chaos below if I suddenly changed my plan.
Still, it didn't matter too much.
Sylvar stepped firmly on the magic broom.
He circled around the dragon in the air.
While circling, he released ice spikes from the handle of the magic broom.
The icicles shot toward the dragon.
However, the dragon simply endured the attacks easily.
Sylvar frowned.
How could its defense be so ridiculously strong compared to its huge body?
Could it be…
These were the legendary dragon scales that possessed natural magic resistance?
As Sylvar continued harassing the dragon with ice attacks, the dragon gradually became angry.
The dragon suddenly opened its mouth.
It released a blast of dragon fire toward Sylvar.
The blazing flames surged toward him.
However, the dragon's attack speed was not particularly impressive.
Sylvar directly controlled the magic broom.
He injected magic power into it.
The broom suddenly accelerated.
Sylvar rushed out of the range of the dragon's flames.
The dragon fire did not even touch him.
Sylvar quickly glanced downward.
He checked his position.
His current location was already close to the trap zone.
Sylvar took a deep breath.
He gathered his focus.
He used all his strength and fired every ice cone he could produce toward the dragon.
However, the dragon simply flapped its wings.
It easily dodged every attack.
The distance was still too far.
The dragon had not been forced into reacting seriously yet.
Troublesome.
The dragon opened its huge mouth again.
It spat out another torrent of blazing flames.
The flames swept toward Sylvar.
Sylvar hurriedly controlled the magic broom again.
He narrowly avoided the flames.
Sylvar watched the dragon approach.
Fifty meters.
Forty meters.
Thirty meters.
Ten meters.
Finally…
The dragon entered the trap area.
Sylvar grinned.
He said arrogantly,
"Foolish creature."
"Accept the crushing power of wisdom."
He activated the trap magic that had been hidden in the air.
Instantly, countless chains emerged from the space surrounding the dragon.
The chains shot toward the dragon.
They wrapped around its body and bound it tightly.
Unfortunately, there were only around twenty traps.
The dragon's strength was immense.
After only one or two seconds, the dragon had already broken two of the chains.
Sylvar had expected this.
The dragon's strength was indeed enough to break these chains.
Fortunately, Sylvar had already made preparations.
At that moment, Sylvar controlled the magic broom and flew directly above the dragon, which was currently bound by chains in midair.
He opened his grimoire.
He flipped the pages.
Then he began using the magic power inside his body.
Ice magic gathered in front of him.
Sylvar condensed an enormous mass of ice.
The ice continued to grow.
It became larger and larger.
Sylvar continued feeding magic power into it.
More.
More.
More.
Until nearly ninety percent of Sylvar's magic power had been consumed.
The ice meteorite had grown enormous.
It was roughly three hundred meters in diameter.
Sylvar released his control over the ice meteorite.
He raised his hand and wiped the sweat from his forehead.
The massive ice meteorite began falling rapidly.
Sylvar looked down at the dragon and said,
"Accept the power of gravity."
"Fall, you giant lizard."
The enormous ice meteorite fell from the sky like a falling star.
It carried terrifying weight and momentum.
The ice meteorite crashed toward the dragon at astonishing speed.
The dragon sensed danger.
It became extremely frightened.
It struggled with all its strength.
It attempted to break free from the chains.
But Sylvar's trap magic was not so easy to escape.
Perhaps a single trap could restrain the dragon for only one or two seconds.
But more than twenty traps stacked together were not as simple as one plus one.
Just as the ice meteorite was about to strike the dragon, the dragon opened its mouth again.
It released a blast of dragon fire toward the meteorite.
Fire collided with ice.
A large amount of steam exploded outward from the point of contact.
This clearly showed how terrifyingly high the temperature of the dragon fire was.
But it was already too late.
The moment the ice meteorite and the dragon collided in midair—
A deafening roar erupted.
The dragon was struck directly by the meteorite.
Its massive body could not resist the impact.
The dragon plummeted toward the ground.
Sylvar immediately shouted toward the ground.
"Lelei!"
"Now!"
After receiving the order, Lelei immediately shouted commands to the elves.
"All elves!"
"Inject magic power into the trap magic now!"
The elves immediately began pouring their magic power into the trap magic.
At that moment, Sylvar activated the traps again.
More than sixty traps activated simultaneously.
The traps intertwined with each other.
They formed an enormous cage made of chains.
Sylvar muttered quietly.
"Doflamingo… I'm borrowing your move again."
"Sorry about that."
"Birdcage."
"Trap the dragon inside."
The dragon had just been struck unconscious by the ice meteorite.
But chains had already completely surrounded it.
The dragon woke in rage.
It spat dragon fire at the chains.
Normally, a single trap would have been destroyed by the dragon fire.
However, countless elves were now maintaining the magic circles.
They continuously supplied magic power.
The chains kept appearing.
They never stopped.
Before the dragon could burn through one opening and escape, the chains had already wrapped around its wings.
The chains dragged the dragon downward.
They forced it to the ground.
The dragon could no longer take flight.
Then the chains continued.
More chains appeared endlessly.
They wrapped around the dragon again and again.
The dragon's body became completely bound.
It looked like a dumpling wrapped in layers.
After confirming that the dragon would not revive again, Sylvar rode the magic broom and flew above the dragon.
He released the Yin Seal.
He activated the magic power stored within it.
Suddenly, an invisible surge of energy erupted outward from Sylvar's body.
Ice magic spread out.
The ice magic reinforced the chains.
The chains tightened further.
At the same time, a thick layer of ice spread across the dragon's body.
The dragon was completely frozen.
Sylvar dragged his exhausted body forward.
He opened his grimoire again.
Then he cast the Universal Seal.
A blank page inside the grimoire began glowing.
Countless chains erupted from the page.
The chains shot forward and wrapped around the dragon.
They connected the dragon directly to the page.
Then they began dragging the dragon toward the book.
Sylvar could feel the magic power inside his body being consumed rapidly.
The magic power drained from him like a flood.
Fortunately, there was still some magic power remaining in the Yin Seal.
Finally—
Just before Sylvar's magic power was completely exhausted—
The dragon was dragged entirely into the page.
The enormous dragon disappeared.
Inside the grimoire, the dragon became an image on the page.
The seal was complete.
Sylvar let out a slow breath.
Sure enough.
Some things were exactly as he had guessed.
If the target did not resist during sealing, the sealing process would become much faster.
It also consumed far less magic power.
The short old magician stood nearby.
He stared blankly.
He said in disbelief,
"How is this possible?"
"A human actually defeated the strongest creature on this continent… the Fire Dragon."
Lelei looked at Sylvar in shock.
"What kind of magic is that?!"
The surrounding elves erupted into amazement.
Gasps spread through the crowd.
Then, under the command of the elf chief, the elves gathered together.
They bowed deeply toward Sylvar.
"Thank you, our benefactor, for saving all the elves!"
"We will do anything you ask without hesitation!"
"We truly do not know how to repay you!"
The elf chief spoke with deep sincerity.
Sylvar stood there quietly.
He could not understand their language.
But judging from their tone and expressions, they were probably expressing gratitude.
Sylvar lowered his head slightly and thought.
This elf tribe probably did not possess any great treasures.
There was likely nothing especially valuable here.
However…
There were still some things they could help with.
For example…
They could help locate those two little dragons.
Those two young dragons.
If Sylvar sealed them, it would waste pages of his grimoire.
After all, he already had the big dragon.
If he had the big dragon, why would he need the little ones?
Wouldn't the big dragon be more impressive?
Sylvar paused.
Then he reconsidered.
No.
That way of thinking was not right.
If the young dragons were allowed to grow up, they would eventually bring disaster to the world again.
Sylvar thought again.
Actually…
Since he had already sealed the big dragon…
He could have the big dragon take him directly to the dragon's nest.
Then the big dragon could discipline its own children.
After disciplining them, the young dragons could be handed over to Magna-senpai… or Asta… or someone else.
Perfect plan.
Sylvar suddenly paused again.
Wait.
There seemed to be a God's Apostle beside the two young dragons.
Sylvar might be able to defeat that person.
But defeating them was not the real problem.
So Lelei stepped forward and acted as a translator.
Sylvar spoke to the elf chief.
"Help me with two things."
"The first thing."
"Find the apostle of the God of Death."
"Rory Mercury."
"Tell her that the Flame Dragon was awakened by Hardy's followers."
"The reason they awakened the dragon was to capture Rory Mercury."
"They want to take her back and marry her."
"Invite her to come here."
"I will take her to where the apostle is."
Sylvar's thoughts continued in his mind.
(I'm not looking for Rory because she's cute, delicate, or easy to bully.)
(Honestly… someone like her is terrifying.)
(She gives off strong yandere vibes.)
(The real reason is something else.)
(If I beat Hardy's apostle directly, Hardy himself might come after me.)
(But if I beat up another apostle…)
(There won't be the problem of the older one coming after me.)
(The biggest problem is the combat power of the gods in this world.)
(It's completely unknown.)
(I don't want to risk my life.)
(If I'm careless, I might die.)
(Be cautious.)
(Being cautious keeps you alive.)
Sylvar raised his head again.
"The second thing."
"Write everything I say into a book."
"Add pictures."
After he said that, he paused briefly.
The surrounding elves immediately began taking notes.
They looked like obedient elementary school students.
Sylvar began explaining.
"Why are there so many races in this world?"
"So some people began investigating this question."
"The elves in the north say the Primordial Forest is in the south."
"The elves in the south say the Primordial Forest is in the north."
"In the end, everyone pointed to the same place."
"Arnus."
Sylvar continued.
"Not only elves."
"All kinds of races say the same thing."
"Gnomes."
"Dwarves."
"Dog-men."
"Goblins."
"Orcs."
"All races call Arnus their homeland."
Sylvar raised a finger.
"That is where the gate exists."
"After accumulating energy for thousands of years, the gate opens once."
"Every time it opens, creatures emerge from it."
"Sometimes they fight the people of this land."
"Sometimes they live together with them."
"They survive in this world."
"Afterward, the gate enters a long slumber again to accumulate energy."
Sylvar paused.
Then he said the most important point.
"Now comes the most important part."
"According to ancient records preserved by all races…"
"The time between a gate appearing and disappearing…"
"…is thirty sunrises and sunsets."
The elf chief carefully recorded every word Sylvar said.
He did not miss anything.
After Sylvar finished giving instructions and the elves began compiling the book, he finally relaxed.
Everything had been arranged.
The tension in Sylvar's heart slowly disappeared.
After four days and three nights of continuous work…
Success had finally arrived.
Suddenly, exhaustion flooded Sylvar's body.
It felt as if all strength had been drained from him.
The world in front of him became blurry.
The grimoire slipped from his hand.
It fell to the ground with a soft sound.
Sylvar lost consciousness.
His body felt as if it had instantly sunk into a soft bed.
His thoughts drifted away.
It felt like entering a distant dream.
Even in the dream, he could feel the joy of success.
But at the same time, exhaustion surged over him like a rising tide.
It wrapped around him completely.
Sylvar's breathing gradually became steady.
The expression on his face relaxed.
All the stress.
All the fatigue.
All the tension.
Everything was released at that moment.
Silence filled the surroundings.
Only the gentle sound of Sylvar's breathing remained.
He slowly drifted into a deep and peaceful sleep.
