Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Heading to the Elf Village

Sylvar Crowe used his circle to locate the position of that remote house.

He immediately began walking toward the remote house.

When he arrived outside the house, he saw that there was no one outside. Sylvar stepped forward and raised his hand. He knocked on the wooden door.

The door creaked open.

Sylvar turned his head and looked toward the doorway. Standing there was a little girl about fourteen or fifteen years old. She blinked her large eyes and looked up at Sylvar.

Her eyes were pure and flawless. Seeing that expression made people naturally feel a surge of affection.

Speaking of which, Sylvar himself looked only fourteen or fifteen years old.

Well, that was only his physical age.

His soul was already in his thirties.

He was already middle-aged.

Hey.

The girl named Lelei looked at the boy in front of her who appeared to be fifteen or sixteen years old.

She asked, "What's going on? Who are you looking for?"

Perhaps because they appeared to be about the same age, she was not overly wary of Sylvar.

Sylvar remained silent.

Only now did he truly realize how serious it was to not know a foreign language.

He felt a headache coming on.

He could not understand a single word she had just said.

And obviously, she would not be able to understand anything he said either.

So what should he do?

Just like before.

He would use ice sculptures to convey the message.

Sylvar scratched his head. He lowered his head slightly and thought for a moment.

Then he raised his head again.

He gave what he thought was a friendly smile.

He raised his hand and pointed inside the house.

Then he pointed at himself.

The meaning was simple.

He wanted to go inside.

The girl tilted her head. She stared at Sylvar for a while, as if trying to understand what he meant.

Then she stepped aside slightly.

Sylvar walked into the house.

Inside the house there was a wooden table.

Sylvar walked over to the table.

He raised his hand.

Cold air condensed in his palm.

Ice quickly gathered.

On top of the table, he carved a small ice sculpture of his own body.

After that, he created another ice sculpture.

This time it was a long-eared humanoid creature.

Then he created another sculpture.

A flying dragon.

A giant flying dragon.

The dragon opened its mouth. Its wings spread wide.

After finishing the dragon, Sylvar used ice to create another long-eared humanoid figure.

Then the dragon struck.

The giant dragon ice sculpture destroyed the long-eared humanoid ice sculpture.

The shattered pieces of ice scattered across the table.

Lelei stared at the ice sculptures.

She looked puzzled.

She said, "What does this mean? Does it mean there are dragons that will go to the elves' villages and destroy them?"

Sylvar could not understand what she said.

However, judging by the shocked expression on her face, she seemed to have understood the meaning.

Perhaps because Lelei's voice had become a little louder, a person walked out from the inner room.

It was an old man.

He was short. He had a white beard. On his head he wore a pointed round hat.

He walked over slowly.

He looked at Sylvar.

Then he asked curiously, "Who is this? Is he someone you know, Lelei?"

Lelei made a strange expression.

She said, "I don't know him. But he doesn't speak our language. He seemed to be saying that the elf village will be destroyed by a giant dragon."

After hearing this, the old man lowered his gaze.

He looked at the table.

On the table was the ice sculpture scene of a giant dragon destroying a long-eared humanoid.

After examining the sculptures carefully, the old man raised his head.

His gaze stopped on Sylvar.

Sylvar noticed that the old man kept staring at him.

So Sylvar smiled at him in a friendly way.

The white-bearded old man looked Sylvar up and down.

A trace of doubt flashed in his eyes.

However, he quickly regained his calm expression.

The old man smiled slightly. He said something to Lelei.

Then he turned his head and looked at Sylvar again.

He said, "Welcome, guest from afar. It seems you have encountered some difficulties. Do you need our help?"

Sylvar looked at the white-bearded old man.

He could tell that the old man was talking to him.

Sylvar shook his head.

Then he pointed at his ear.

He shook his head again.

He was indicating that he could not understand.

After that, Sylvar raised his hand and pointed toward the ice sculptures on the table.

The white-bearded old man narrowed his eyes slightly when he saw the ice sculptures again.

A hint of doubt appeared on his face.

The corners of his mouth curved downward slightly.

His entire expression clearly showed distrust.

It was as if his face was saying: I will not trust you easily.

Sylvar thought silently.

If he wanted to gain the trust of this old man, he would have to show it through action.

Sylvar raised his arm.

He pointed toward the outside.

Then he turned around and walked toward the open space outside the house.

He waved his hand, signaling for them to follow him.

The old man and Lelei exchanged a glance.

Then they followed him outside.

When they stepped outside the house, there was a forest nearby.

Sylvar opened his magic book.

He flipped through the pages.

Cold air condensed in front of him.

A massive cone of ice formed in the air.

Sylvar raised his hand.

Then he launched the ice cone forward.

The ice cone shot forward like a spear.

It pierced through the forest.

Boom!

The ice cone smashed through dozens of large trees.

The trees snapped and collapsed one after another.

The old man and Lelei both widened their eyes in shock.

How did he release magic without chanting?

Where was the magic gathering?

What exactly was going on?

After that, Sylvar gathered ten ice spheres in the air.

He reached out and picked up three of them.

Then he pointed in the direction where the ice cone had struck.

After that, he picked up five ice spheres.

He released another ice cone.

This time, the ice cone was several times larger than before.

The power was several times stronger.

The impact shook the ground.

At that moment, both the master and the apprentice had the same thought at the same time.

Could it be…?

Just now, he had only used thirty percent of his strength?

And this time he used fifty percent?

How could such a terrifying magician exist?

This power was simply terrifying.

With such strength, there was absolutely no reason for Sylvar to deceive them.

Because if Sylvar wanted to harm them, he would only need to wave his hand.

Strength.

Sometimes strength itself was trust.

But if he wanted to save the elf village, why would he need their help?

The old man and Lelei began discussing something quietly.

Sylvar watched them talking.

He had no idea what they were saying.

After thinking for a moment, Sylvar raised his hand again.

Ice gathered.

This time he created ice sculptures of the old man and Lelei.

Then the ice sculptures began to move.

The two figures traveled forward.

Behind them appeared a village.

An elf village.

The two ice figures walked toward it.

The old man still did not understand what this meant.

But at that moment, Lelei suddenly reacted.

Her eyes widened.

She said, "I understand! He means that we should take him to the elf village and introduce him to the elves there!"

The old man frowned.

The two of them continued discussing.

Finally, Lelei said something that silenced her teacher.

"If you don't take him with us, can you stop him with his strength?"

"There is no other choice."

When Sylvar saw them beginning to pack their things, he sat quietly outside the house.

After a while, the old man brought out a large number of books.

He also brought out a carriage.

When Sylvar saw this scene, he really wanted to complain.

We are going to hunt a dragon.

This is not a picnic.

Why are we bringing so many books?

Are we moving houses?

Soon after, Lelei came out leading a donkey cart.

Sylvar completely lost his temper.

Damn.

If we travel like this, it will take more than a full day.

He opened his magic book.

He summoned the large black wolf.

The wolf appeared beside the carriage.

"Ah!"

Lelei screamed in horror.

The wolf was enormous.

It was big enough to swallow a person in a single bite.

Sylvar raised his hand.

He gently rubbed the wolf's head like petting a dog.

He was demonstrating that the wolf was obedient and harmless.

However, the donkey beside the carriage was terrified.

It collapsed onto the ground.

It urinated from fear.

Sylvar directed the wolf to replace the donkey.

The wolf was now responsible for pulling the carriage.

This would allow them to travel faster.

But the old man and Lelei were still carrying books.

They had already been doing this for more than ten minutes.

Sylvar endured it again and again.

Finally, he could not endure it anymore.

He created another ice sculpture.

This time it was a giant dragon.

Then he created his own ice figure.

Chains appeared.

The chains wrapped around the dragon and tied it tightly like a dumpling.

Lelei looked at the sculpture.

She saw Sylvar pointing at the dragon.

Then she saw him pointing at the old man who was still carrying books.

She immediately understood.

Lelei turned toward her teacher.

"It seems we are wasting time."

"He means he is very strong and does not need these things."

Sylvar created another ice sculpture.

This time it was a carriage.

Inside the carriage were only three people.

Nothing else.

The carriage moved forward toward the Elf Forest.

Lelei nodded.

She said to her teacher, "He means we should stop wasting time and go to the Elf Forest immediately."

Finally, they set off.

Inside the carriage, the old man drove.

Sylvar sat beside Lelei.

Sylvar began teaching her his own language so that future communication would be easier.

Otherwise, he would have to keep playing charades forever.

It was extremely frustrating.

Fortunately, Lelei was truly a genius.

She learned languages incredibly quickly.

Sylvar first taught her pronunciation.

Then he taught her the written characters.

After that, he casually tossed her a chemistry book.

Before long, Lelei was already able to speak words Sylvar could understand.

Sylvar stared at her.

Ah. Holy shit.

What a genius.

It made Sylvar feel ashamed.

After all, it had taken him three years in his previous world to grow from a mute baby into a child who could speak.

This level of talent was terrifying.

It was simply beyond reach.

He really wanted that kind of talent.

After traveling for half a day, they arrived near the elf village.

It had taken only three or four hours.

By that time, Lelei could already communicate with Sylvar.

The old magician walked forward.

He spoke with the elven chief.

After talking for a while, the old man returned with a strange expression.

He had asked whether the elves had seen a dragon.

The answer was no.

They had not even seen the shadow of one.

The old man turned toward Lelei.

He spoke loudly.

He was not worried that Sylvar would understand him.

The short magician said, "Were we deceived?"

Lelei replied, "I don't think so. He is so strong. There is no reason for him to trick us."

Sylvar watched the two of them talking.

Then he said to Lelei, "Go negotiate with them."

"Tell them we will stay here for one week."

"And do not tell them about the dragon."

Lelei looked confused.

"Why not tell them?"

"And when will the dragon come?"

Sylvar answered calmly.

"The dragon will arrive within a week."

"But I do not know which day."

"And if you tell them now, will they believe you?"

"Dragons appear only every many years. According to experience, the next appearance should be fifty years later."

"But experience can sometimes kill people."

"There was a stupid guy who woke the dragon and forced it to lay eggs."

"A baby dragon was born."

"The dragon has recently been searching frantically for food."

Lelei's face turned pale.

"How could that happen?"

"But what can we do?"

"Dragons are extremely powerful."

Sylvar said calmly, "I came early to set traps."

"I will capture it."

"And even if I fail to capture it, I have enough strength to drive it away."

"Do not worry."

"There will be no accidents."

Lelei translated the conversation to her teacher.

The old man looked shocked.

He walked back to speak with the elven chief.

After a long conversation, the elves agreed to allow them to stay for one week.

The old man did not tell the elves about the dragon.

Because neither he nor Lelei could confirm that the dragon would actually come.

After all, the information came from a stranger.

From that day onward, Sylvar began constantly gathering his magic power.

Whenever he gathered enough magic, he would set a trap around the elf village.

Twenty-four hours a day.

Day after day.

Gathering magic.

Setting traps.

Repeating the process.

Within a radius of five hundred meters around the elf village, countless traps were installed.

Each trap required nearly an hour to complete.

After placing traps on the ground, Sylvar began placing traps in the sky.

Because the dragon was an aerial creature.

If it never landed, then the ground traps would be useless.

After gathering magic for an entire day and night and setting countless traps, Sylvar stopped for a moment.

He called Lelei over.

He temporarily stopped gathering magic power.

Sylvar said, "When the dragon arrives, these traps will activate."

"You and the elves must help inject magic power into them."

"But wait until the dragon appears before telling the elves."

"We must tell them not to run around."

"If we tell them now, they will never believe it."

Lelei nodded seriously.

After that, Sylvar resumed gathering magic power.

On the sixth day since arriving in this world, Sylvar had already spent three days and three nights inside the elf village.

More than eighty traps had been placed around the village.

More than twenty traps were positioned in the sky.

Now only one thing remained.

The east wind.
