Dawn broke over Duskfall City, painting the stone walls in hues of pink and gold. The city was still quiet, most players asleep or lingering in taverns, but the Registration District hummed with tense energy. Kael (Zhu Shen) stood at the edge of the square, his Shadowsteel Dagger glinting at his waist, the Abyssal Frost Armor's scales catching the first light. Beside him, Gareth (Shadow) leaned against a stone pillar, his Shadowsteel Sword sheathed but his hand resting on the hilt—alert, unblinking. Lila (Luna) stood between them, her Moonlight Herb Sickle clipped to her belt, a pouch of enhanced Moonbloom Pollen in her hand—she'd spent the night with Yun Feng's alchemist friend, upgrading her support items to [Blessed Moonbloom Pollen] (Frost Resistance +40%, HP Regen +15/sec).

"Registration office opens in 10 minutes," Kael said, checking his in-game clock. His communicator buzzed—Yun Feng (Phantom) was en route with the guild registration scroll. "Eve will be here. She won't let us take Crescent Glade without a fight."

Gareth nodded, his gaze sweeping the empty streets. "Scouts on the rooftops. Three o'clock and seven o'clock." He didn't need [Detection]—years of real-world combat had honed his instincts to a razor's edge.

Lila's fingers tightened around her pollen pouch, but her voice was steady. "I'll cover you. If they cast frost spells, I'll break the debuffs. And I made [Stardust Healing Potions]—they restore 300 HP each." She held up a small vial, the liquid glowing green.

Kael smiled faintly. "Perfect. Stay behind us until the fighting starts—no risks."

A moment later, Yun Feng appeared, jogging across the square. He held a rolled scroll in his hand, his cloak flapping. "Got it—the guild registration docs. Just need to hand them to the NPC when the office opens. But we've got company." He nodded toward the western end of the street, where a group of figures was approaching.

Crimson Horde elites.

Led by Eve.

She stood at the front, her in-game avatar clad in blood-red leather armor, a curved scimitar at her waist. Her ID—[Eve]—glowed in menacing red text, and her eyes (pale blue, almost icy) locked onto Kael. Behind her were eight Crimson Horde elites, all Lv.25-27, their gear Silver-grade, their auras aggressive.

"Zhu Shen," Eve said, her voice smooth but cold, carrying across the square. "You're persistent. But Crescent Glade belongs to the Crimson Horde. Hand over the registration scroll, and I'll let you walk away—for the girl's sake."

Kael's jaw tightened. "You think threats work on me?" He stepped forward, his Shadowsteel Dagger unsheathed. "Crescent Glade is ours. And if you try to stop us, you'll regret it."

Eve laughed, a sharp, brittle sound. "Regret? I don't know the meaning of the word. You beat my scouts, you killed my wolf lord—now it's time to pay." She raised her scimitar, signaling her elites. "Take them down. Leave the girl alive—I want her as leverage."

The Crimson Horde elites charged, their weapons drawn. Swords clashed, spells crackled—fire and frost energy lit up the dawn square.

"Shadow, take the left three! I'll handle the right!" Kael shouted, darting forward. He activated [Backstab Lv.1] on the nearest elite, a Lv.26 Warrior.

245 DMG! (Critical Strike + Penetration Effect)Crimson Horde·Bane has been slain!

Gareth vanished into the shadows, his Frostbite Dagger slicing through a Lv.25 Mage's spell. The mage's fireball fizzled, and she collapsed as Gareth's dagger pierced her throat.

230 DMG! (Backstab + Frost Slow)Crimson Horde·Flame has been slain!

Lila threw a handful of Blessed Moonbloom Pollen, covering Kael and Gareth in a warm glow. "Frost Resistance up! Heal fast!"

Eve charged at Kael, her scimitar slashing in a wide arc. "Let's finish this—once and for all!"

Kael blocked with his dagger, the clang of metal ringing out. Eve's attack was powerful—180 damage, but his Abyssal Frost Armor absorbed 30%, and the pollen's regen kicked in, healing the damage instantly. "You're stronger than I thought," Kael admitted, spinning around to slash at her waist.

198 DMG! (Weak Point Hit)Eve's HP: 80%

Eve hissed, jumping back. "You think that's enough? I was the Goddess of Slaughter in Sky Slaughter—you're just a novice!" She activated a skill, her scimitar glowing red. [Blood Rage]!

Eve's Attack +50% for 5s!

She lunged again, her scimitar stabbing toward Kael's chest. Kael dodged, but the blade grazed his shoulder.

210 DMG! (Blood Rage Bonus)Kael's HP: 160/370

"Kael!" Lila shouted, throwing a Stardust Healing Potion at him. The vial shattered, and Kael's HP surged back to 460/370.

[System Notification]

Luna used [Stardust Healing Potion]! Zhu Shen regains 300 HP!

Kael grinned, channeling mana into his dagger. [Charge Strike Lv.2]! He leaped forward, stabbing directly at Eve's chest.

280 DMG! (Critical Strike + Penetration)Eve's HP: 50%

Eve stumbled, her eyes widening. "Impossible—you're only Lv.20!" She glanced at her elites—only three remained, Gareth cutting through them like a hot knife through butter.

Gareth finished off the last elite with a [Backstab], then turned to face Eve. "It's over, Eve."

Eve's face twisted with rage. She looked at the registration office, where the NPC was unlocking the door. "You win this round, Zhu Shen. But the Frost Realm is mine. I'll be waiting for you there—and this time, I won't hold back." She activated a scroll, a bright red light wrapping around her. "And tell the girl—her safety is only temporary."

[System Notification]

Eve has used [Escape Scroll]! Teleporting away!

She vanished in a burst of red light, leaving only the scent of blood and smoke.

Kael didn't chase—time was short. He ran toward the registration office, Yun Feng right behind him. The NPC, a portly man in a blue robe, smiled as they approached. "Ah, the Novice Zone Conqueror! You've cleared the path—hand over the scroll."

Kael handed him the guild registration docs, signed with "Godslayer's Legion" in bold black ink.

Cheers erupted from the nearby players—many had grown tired of the Crimson Horde's tyranny, and Godslayer's Legion's victory was a relief. Yun Feng clapped Kael on the back. "We did it! Crescent Glade is ours—now we control access to the Frost Realm!"

Gareth nodded, his cold expression softening slightly. "The territory has iron mines and herb patches. We can start building barracks and an alchemy lab tomorrow."

Lila ran over, her face bright with excitement. "We have a guild territory! Can I plant my herbs there? The soil by the portal is perfect for Stardust Moss!"

Kael knelt down, smiling. "Of course. We'll build you a garden—big enough for all your herbs." He checked his communicator—another message from the hospital: Lila's pre-surgery tests were complete, and everything was on track for tomorrow. A weight lifted from his shoulders.

Yun Feng cleared his throat. "We need to secure the territory—post guards, set up defenses. The Crimson Horde will be back. And the Frost Realm opens in three days—we need to level up, gather gear, and prepare for Eve's next move."

Kael stood, his gaze sweeping over Crescent Glade—visible through the registration office's window, a lush, flat expanse of land with a small stream, iron mines, and a stone circle that marked the Frost Realm portal. "Let's get to work. Shadow, post recruits at the territory borders. Luna, gather herbs for potions. Yun, start construction on the barracks and storage. I'll head to the Auction House—we need to buy more Steel-grade gear for the core members."

Everyone nodded, splitting up to tackle their tasks. Kael walked toward the Auction House, his Shadowsteel Dagger at his side, the Shura's Novice Emblem warm against his chest.

The first step was done—Crescent Glade was theirs. But the fight was far from over. Eve would return, stronger than before, and the Frost Realm held unknown dangers. But Kael wasn't afraid. He had Gareth, Lila, Yun Feng, and a growing legion of loyal players.

As he passed a merchant stall, he paused, buying a small, glowing crystal—[Frost Core], a Lv.25 crafting material that could enhance his Abyssal Frost Armor. "One step at a time," he murmured.

For Lila's surgery. For Godslayer's Legion. For dominance in Divine Descent.

He quickened his pace, the dawn sun warming his back. The future was uncertain, but Kael Voss was ready to fight for every inch of it.
