Chapter 8 - School day. Fr this time.

As the door clicked open, Silas stepped out.

It all happened fast but elegant, like a single fluid motion.

Silas stood there, his side profile facing the crowd. He gently closed the car door behind him.

He moved slowly but deliberate as he gently fixed his wool coat.

The conversations in the parking lot quickly thinned with his appearance … then broke out in murmurs.

A group of girls started to gossip.

"Look at that handsome guy…"

"He must be one of the new kids that were supposed to transfer today, right?"

Another girl nodded as she looked on dreamily.

"Look at those clothes and the car… he must be rich, right?"

A guy standing next to them sneered.

"Whats so good about that?"

"It's just daddy's money anyway."

"You think someone our age can afford that car without his parents' money?"

The girls glanced at him. Then they started to chuckle.

"You're just jealous he's more handsome than you."

"Yeah, and got a cooler car."

The guy turned his head away in embarrassment.

Similar conversations happened all around the parking lot.

Bella, who noticed him first, couldn't help but take an extra look.

She was standing closer and could see better.

His face held a certain coldness and aloofness…

Although the whispers reached him, he seemed unimpressed.

Most guys hearing the whispers of these girls would show some reaction, like a smug smirk or pride…

Not him…

No wait, he did have a reaction.

Bella looked closer… his brows were slightly furrowed.

Tsk.

These girls are unbelievable.

Completely undisciplined.

Silas furrowed his brows. His hearing was better than Bella's so he heard the real quiet whispers among best friends.

And they were getting increasingly absurd.

These girls are some perverts… of course it wasn't all of them, but definitely a majority.

No! I need to leave here before I have an aneurysm.

Silas started to make his way towards the stairs. As he walked he felt the intense gazes of the girls… and some guys.

Just as he was about to step onto the stairs his ears caught something.

It was a… no multiple prayers… they come from a group of guys standing beside a van.

They were all hoping he would fall on the stairs or at least miss a step.

Hmm. I seem to remember something about this from my previous life.

It was called… aura?

Missing a step made you lose aura.

It seems reputation forms faster than truth.

Maybe.

Silas was in deep thought as he ascended the steps towards the entrance, a few steps behind was Bella.

She was looking at the handsome boy's back, he seemed… kinda hard to approach.

Just then they walked through the double doors and entered the school.

Crap.

Where is the reception? Where should I pick up my schedule and map?

Silas was feeling a headache come on.

"Are you Silas?" a smooth voice rang out.

Silas turned his head to the side and a handsome young man entered his view.

He had an upright posture, dirt blonde hair, amber eyes, and pale skin.

He could be considered quite handsome.

"Yes."

"Great. I was tasked by the principal to show you around."

Ohh. Bella didn't get this treatment in the original.

Just as Silas pondered this a thought flashed through his mind.

Mikael.

As Kakuzu said.

The only thing you can have faith in is money. After all, they say money talks.

It must be that Mikael fixed a guide for me. Silas gave Mikael a thumbs up in his heart.

"Alright." Silas gave the man a nod

"What is your name?"

The man took a few steps forward.

"It's Jasper."

Silas nodded calmly, this was earlier than expected. Meeting a Cullen already?

"Have you picked up your schedule and map from the reception yet?"

"No."

"Alright, follow me, then we need to find your locker."

Silas nodded and fell in beside Jasper.

This boy… he doesn't quite move like a teenager.

There's no awkwardness in his stride. No hesitation, no wasted motion.

Jasper's gaze lingered.

Most humans shifted under attention, tightening shoulders, faltering steps.

Not this one, no he doesn't move like prey at all.

But there's something else, his emotions…

Jasper frowned slightly.

They were there, every one of them.

Irritation, amusement, indifference, curiosity.

All present at once.

But… none stronger than the other. None was dominant, there was no emotional center.

It was like standing in a room where every instrument played at the same volume.

Just noise, with no directions, this wasn't normal. Humans felt in waves, not static.

Very Strange

He's a weird human.

"We're here, let's get your schedule and map, so we can go find your locker."

Silas nodded and they walked inside.

Silas walked over to the reception lady.

"Hello, I'm here for my schedule and map."

The lady looked up, her eyes plastered to his face.

"You're the new kid?"

She looked down at her papers.

"The one with an unusual name?"

Silas nodded.

"You can just call me Silas Reed."

The woman shot him a grateful glance. So understanding… and handsome.

"Here, honey."

"This is the map, and this is the schedule." The lady put two papers on the table, the map was laminated, luxury.

"Do you know how to read a map?" The lady asked.

Just then the door opened and Bella walked in.

She had seen the tall boy get greeted by someone who clearly belonged here. She was quick witted and slipped in behind. If he was getting special treatment, then maybe she could piggyback on it.

Everyone turned to look at her.

"Hello dear, you must be Charlie's daughter?"

Bella was a little flustered and then nodded.

Just then Silas broke in.

"I will take my leaven then."

"The map…"

"No worries, my friend here will show me the way." Silas said as he pointed towards Jasper.

The woman glanced over and nodded.

As Silas and Jasper walked out, Bella walked over to the reception desk.

Jasper and Silas was heading down the corridor.

"What's your locker number?"

"2234"

"Alright, it's quite close to mine, follow me."

Silas nodded and fell beside Jasper, behind them Bella hurried to keep up.

Another cold aura? Silas noted, and a smile was slowly forming.

This day is already more interesting than I expected.
