While growing up Li Jei was not pampered by his parents. Although he felt their love and care all the time, they where busy with their careers too. He learned to be independent. He was usually alone at home so he learns to prepare his own meals, wash his own clothes and go to the store to buy some groceries. He also tidy up things in their house while his parents are at work. He's a dependable kid which why his parents are very grateful for. He is not a very outgoing person he prefers to stay home and enjoy reading, playing his saxophone or play computer games. He has only one close friend, Wan Jun. They get along well since both of their parents are university professors. They have more things in common but unlike Li Jei, his friend is more outgoing and loves to hang out with friends.
They were studying in the same school since pre school. Now that they are in high school Wang Jun enjoys hooking up with pretty girls. He has good looks that girls are falling for him. When he stares at you with his dark brown eyes, your knees will give in. Li Jie is not bad himself. In fact if they were compared with regards to looks and physical features Li Jei is above than his friend. Li Jei attracts girls more with his dimples showing when he smiles and his light brown clear eyes beguiles all the girls. Not to mention he is multi talented, he plays the saxophone, drums, he is also into martial arts and has a black belt in taekwondo most of all he loves computers at a young age he is good at codes and is a bit of expert in hacking. He was not interested in girls. His mind is set on his hobbies which he enjoyed the most however he did not expect that someone penetrated the thick brick walls surrounding his heart.
It started during their school festival. While everyone were enjoying the festivities that day Li Jei was just sitting inside their classroom listening to his favorite music. He does not like crowds so he stayed there just to have his attendance checked. "Hey Li Jei what are you still doing here inside the classroom? Let's go out and join the festivities bro, come on!" "Let's check out the ladies, I heard Xiu Yeng and Zhang Lei's turn to work at the booth right now. I want to check out that Zhang Lei she is pretty hot!" Wang Jun together with some of their male classmates were trying to convince him to go out.
"You know what Wang Jun, that brain of yours keeps on thinking about hooking up with girls that's why nobody takes you seriously!" scolded Li Jei while laughing at his friend's coyness. "Okey I will let you drag me this time". "Let's check those girls out!" Li Jei put his around over his friend's shoulder jokingly and drag him out from the classroom.
Li Jei place is both hands in his pocket while walking towards their class booth. He enjoyed joking along with his classmates and best friend. Gazing towards their booth a couple of feet away, he was gazing at Zhang Lei at that instance she was also looking at his direction. Their eyes locked for a couple of seconds smiling at each other not wanting to let go. Until his steps brought him in front of her and then he looked passed her and went inside the booth. 'What happened to me, even though I keep seeing her at school and we sat beside beside each other, seeing her right now, I felt different like I miss her a lot.' Pondered Li Jei while still keep on glancing toward her. Something caught his eyes while looking around the booth. He picked it up and unknowingly bought it. Xiu Yang who was assigned to accept payments wondered why he bought a stuffed unicorn. But she did not uttered a word.
After the festival everything went back to normal. Zhang Lei was in a dilemma. Midterms is fast approaching and her math scores are not very promising. She needs to maintain above 85 grade for her scholarship. Although, her parents can afford her tuition she wants to naintain good grades in order to enter the prestigious school of medicine after she graduates. She was in a bad mood when Li Jei approached her. "Is there something wrong?" he asked. She glanced at her and puffed her cheeks saying that she hates her math grades and needs somebody to help her pass the midterms.
