I woke up at five and couldn't stay on that damn couch another minute. So I went to Elise's kitchen and stood by the window, staring at the city lights.
Elise padded out a few minutes later, hair messy, wearing a damn shirt that just made her look so damn hot. She stopped halfway into the kitchen.
"You're up early," she said, surprised.
"Yeah. Couldn't sleep much."
We stood there, talking low about stupid shit. How the city noise never really stopped. How her work was slowly burying her alive. Normal stuff that felt weirdly good after all the pack crap.
"Been sleeping like shit back at the house with you gone," I said. "Keep waking up thinking about you in your room there when you're not even there, you're here."
Elise looked at me, smiling teasingly. "I didn't know it was that bad for you."
