I left Elise's room fast, still tasting her on my lips and trying not to think about how badly I wanted to turn around and go back in. The door clicked shut behind me, and I kept moving, down the hallway and out the back before I could change my mind.
My jaw tightened as I stepped into the night.
Borge had finally come through. About damn time. A few more minutes and I'd have a name. The one who thought it was a good idea to send Elise those threats.
A black car was already waiting, engine running, windows tinted dark.
I got in without saying a word. The driver didn't ask questions, just pulled away and took the back gate instead of the main road. Trees closed in on both sides as we drove, the road narrow and quiet.
Ten minutes later, we hit the clearing. Another car sat there, engine still on. I stayed where I was, watching.
