I left the library with my heart still thudding hard in my chest and a swarm of butterflies refusing to settle in my stomach. Every few minutes while I tried to focus on the files in front of me, the memory of that kiss would flash back.
My cheeks would warm up again, and the back of my neck would prickle. I kept catching myself touching my lips without meaning to.
By late afternoon I gave up. There was no point pretending I could get any real work done when all I could think about was the press of his body and the low, rough sound he had made when I kissed him back. I needed a break.
I left my temporary office and started walking through the house instead of going outside. My feet carried me upstairs without any real plan, and before I knew it I was standing outside Reid's room again. The door was still slightly ajar, the same way it always was.
I pushed it open a little farther and stepped inside.
