After fighting on the 11th floor for a while and gathering enough magic stones to fill his backpack, Nero decided that he would need to get more used to his magic before coming back here, and would instead focus on the 10th floor for the time being
The reason that he decided to do this was because of a trait that seemed to be shared by any monster that had any armor, a slight resistance to magic
This was most eveident in the hard armored as he suffered greatly when one was rolling towards him and he tried to use his destruction magic to take it out, only for it to only destroy a majorit of its armored carapace causing it to smash into him, the force having been reduced due to his magic and he didn't take as much damage due to the hard armored hitting him with its soft fleshy skin rather than its carapace, but he was still winded and had to use his tessen to finish off the job
The trait was also shared by the infant dragon which was the hardest monster that Nero had face so far, and the only monster that he had been unable to take out, having decided to run away as the amount of energy that he would need to use in order to beat it being to much
The silverback also caused him some trouble due to it being one of the faster monsters that he had faced up until this point, but due to it having no armor to speak of Nero's destruction magic was able to take out its arms and legs in the same way that he did the orcs from the prior floor, making it alot simpler to defeat
"Surely the fact that I can't one shot the monsters on this floor must be due to my magic stat just not being high enough, after all from what I can remember from the manga in my past life Bell was able to one shot an infant dragon with his firebolt" he mumbled before sighing "but that was one boosted by his skill and he was level 2 at that point so his magic stat was much higher than mine is at the moment, so once I reach that level I'm sure I'll be able to take out anything on the upper floors with one blast, maybe even some of the monsters on the middle floors"
Once he was finished at the guild turning in all of the magic stones and drops that he got for the day he arrived at the bottom of the cliff to his home, unfolding his wings he decided to get in some flight training, using his wings to slowly ascend the cliff face, having to stop here and there in order to recover due to going up being much more difficult than going down and only able to rise slowly due to not having enough experience in using his wings
Finally arriving at the top of the cliff, Nero's sensed danger, immediately pushing off the ground with all his might to avoid whatever it was that was attacking him as he forced his wings to propel himself higher
Soaring over the attack that had been targeted him Nero was unable to relax his guard for even a momment as he felt something heading towards him
Having no time to grab his tessen Nero instantly forced himself into his ice king mode, creating 2 short blades in his hands and intercepting the attack, finally coming face to face with his opponent
"Yumi?" he blurted out in shock
"Nero?" she replied in a similar state of shock, the 2 of them deflecting each others strike and landing back on the ground
"That was a hell of a welcome home" Nero joked as he dispelled his ice king form
"I came here to talk to Aurathia and you but when I got here I suddenly sensed something coming up the cliff and so prepared myself to deal with it, I never expected it to be you" she explained "you feel completely different from just the other day, and what's with the wings?" she asked
"My newest trainer is a devil and so my energy probably feels more demonic as I am now part devil which has made me stronger, but obviously this is something you couldn't have expected, the wings are a part of me being part devil now"
"I understand and I apologise for attacking you" Yumi bowed
"It's ok, you're in a strange world and sensed a possible threat so it's understandable that you would attack" Nero accepted her apology "plus thanks to a certain trainer I am quite good at dealing with sneak attacks" he joked
"Enough joking" Yumi humphed, turning her head to the side, but even so Nero was able to see a small amount of blush on her neck "now then, do you know where Aurathia is, I wish to talk to her"
"Knowing her she is probably out teaching or training in the city, although she did say she was going to be doing some shopping today so she might be at the market, would you like to come in and wait for her?"
"Yes please, thank you for your hospitality" Yumi replied with another bow
Leading her inside to the main room Nero asked "would you like anything to drink while we wait? I'm afraid we only have water or tea at the moment as like I said Aura is doing the shopping at the moment and we only just moved in here so we are a little low on things to offer people"
"Tea would be fine, with milk and sugar please" she responded as she took a seat
"So have you decided to take up our offer to join the Familia?" Nero asked as he got to work making the tea
"I would like to refrain from saying anything until Aurathia has returned in order to inform the both of you at the same time" Yumi stated
As if on cue the main doors opened, revealing Aurathia carrying a huge backpack filled with all kinds of foods, spices and everyday essentials
"Nero I'm guessing your back since the door is open, mind giving me a hand putting all of this stuff away" she called out
"Sure thing Aura, but before that we have a guest" Nero remarked, going to help her with all of her purchases as the tea mashed
"Yumi, good to see you again" Aurathia smiled "What brings you up here?"
"That can wait until all of your shopping has been put away, allow me to lend you a hand" she declared, going over to help
"You are a guest so please, leave this to us" Aurathia retorted
"I wish to become a part of your Familia so I should not be considered as a guest so allow me to help" Yumi announced
"Then it's good to have you, let's get all of this away so that we can have a proper discussion" Aurathia smiled as the three of them got to work.
