It was silent for a very long time.
Suga showed y/n that he had brought her a small bouquet of flowers, but y/n threw them to the ground and stomped on them. Suga picked them up and tossed them in the trash.
They both walked away from each other, going in opposite directions.
Y/n paused halfway, crouched down on the floor, curled up into a ball, and began to cry.
Namjoon, who was sitting nearby, witnessed what happened, stood up, and approached y/n, who was still curled up on the ground.
"Y/n, are you okay?" Namjoon asked. "No, Namjoon, I am not okay. I want to be alone," y/n replied, without looking up and still crying. "Come on y/n, I can't just leave you here alone. I can take you home." "I'd prefer to stay here alone." "Do you want me to take you to my place, or where do you want to go?" "Let's go to your place if that's alright with you."
Namjoon nodded, picked up y/n's left hand from the ground, and showed her the small bouquet of flowers he had brought for her earlier.
Y/n took the bouquet of flowers in her right hand and walked alongside Namjoon until they reached his bike.
"You still ride a bike? Isn't that a bit old-fashioned?" chuckled y/n. "Hey, don't make fun of my bike. It's not old-fashioned; think of it as a more romantic way to travel. Plus, you'll have to hold on tight if you don't want to fall off," Namjoon joked back.
Y/n climbed onto Namjoon's bike, and they rode off.
Suga, still feeling hurt, wiped away a tear from his face. He visited a late-night coffee shop, ordered his usual coffee, and sat at a table, reflecting on the painful breakup he had with y/n and the things he said, filled with regret.
[Y/n & Suga's conversation]
"Let's start with Namjoon. How did this happen?" The day I caught the flu during the first snowfall, he showed up out of nowhere while my parents were at a company dinner. He stayed for a bit, and things took a turn. He grabbed my wrist and held me in his arms. I managed to break free the first time and dashed to my room, but he followed me there. This time, I couldn't get away. He ended up kissing my cheek and proposed that we date to annoy the person I had made a promise to."
"So that's where Namjoon went and got sick days later. We asked him where he went, but he stayed quiet. But how did this dating start?" "When I accepted his offer, he asked me to keep our relationship a secret because he didn't want his fans to find out he was dating me or you guys. So we did. But one day, while Namjoon and I were on the school rooftop, Ha-Kyung caught us. Namjoon began negotiating with her to keep it a secret from the members, and Ha-Kyung maintained her word."
"What were you all doing on the school rooftop?" "Well, Namjoon wanted our first kiss to be private, so when we kissed and stepped back, that's when your ex saw us." "Okay, but how did Jungkook find out about you two dating?" "During lunch, Namjoon wasn't there because he was busy with his solo album. I thought about asking Jin for dating advice, but I figured he wouldn't have a clue, so I went to Jungkook instead. Jungkook was surprised to learn I was dating Namjoon, but he was shocked by something I told him."
"What did you say?" "I responded, 'Namjoon has become overprotective of me, not allowing me to spend time with my friends or Jin, my best friend. He began appearing unexpectedly by my classroom during breaks and at cram school. Everyone in my class started to notice something, but they didn't mention it because I believe Namjoon influenced them to stay quiet. Besides, I'm just dating him since he made the offer. That day, I caught the flu and the first snowball.'"
"So, you never truly had real feelings for Namjoon?" "It's a bit complicated. He was aware that I wouldn't reciprocate his feelings, yet he still put them out there. After the incident on the school rooftop, I did begin to develop genuine feelings for him, but I held back from telling him because I knew he would just keep talking about it. Are you satisfied that I answered your Namjoon-related questions?" "Yes, I'm satisfied now." "Great, then my work here is finished."
Y/n begins to walk away when Suga stops her one last time.
"Where are you headed?" "Where am I headed? I'm leaving you. How could you allow Ha-Kyung to hold your hand and kiss you right in front of me? Isn't that cheating?" "Oh, come on, I've already explained this; it's a huge misunderstanding, y/n." "I'm not going to fall for your misunderstanding again. This isn't the first time I've been into this." "First time? Let me guess, was it Namjoon who made you question yourself?" "No, it was Jin." "Jin? You mean your best friend who you've had feelings for, like, forever?"
"How did you find out?" "Y/n, you are too obvious to hide. Before Namjoon and I entered the picture, you were always focused on him, looking at him with those puppy eyes. Jin was doing the same thing." Okay, and this changes what?" "It changes how I feel about you. The only reason I was with you was to keep you safe from Namjoon. Following the incident on Jeju Island, he became obsessed with you. He began stalking you, for whatever reason. He started showing up at random moments whenever you had plans; even if you were with Jin, he was always there."
Y/n paused for a moment to understand what Suga was saying. Deep down, she was aware that Namjoon was stalking her; she had known all along, but the fact that Suga was with her just to protect her—that felt cruel.
"So you're saying you never had real feelings for me after you confessed that day, saying 'I've been in love with you for the past 6 years'? Was that also a lie?" "Listen, y/n, I meant what I said. My feelings for you were genuine at first, but after the day at the bookstore when you went with Jin, I became jealous. Jin and I started having small arguments because everyone knows he has feelings for you." "I can't believe I was actually happy dating you, but after you told me this, f**k this. You and your crazy ex, Ha-Kyung, deserve each other because you know what? Both of you are LITERALLY TRASH." "FINE, YOU KNOW WHAT? YOU'RE A SELF-CENTERED GIRL WHO SEEKS ATTENTION FROM OTHERS TO SATISFY YOU. EVERYTHING HA-KYUNG TOLD ME IS TRUE; I REGRET DATING YOU BECAUSE YOU WERE NEVER HONEST WITH ME ABOUT YOUR PAST WITH NAMJOON."
Those statements hurt y/n more than they did Suga. They both turned their backs on each other and walked away, bringing their relationship to an end.
[End of flashback]
"Can't blame her for that. I had to take the actions I needed to take. What I'm about to say will hurt me, but I still have lingering feelings for Ha-Kyung," Suga thought as he finished his coffee and left the store.
