To Gryffindor's complete shock, the moment he stepped into the Room of Requirement—
A spell shot directly toward his face.
The attack arrived with terrifying speed and precision.
But Godric Gryffindor was not known as the greatest duelling wizard of his era for nothing.
His combat instincts bordered on supernatural.
The instant Slytherin attacked, Gryffindor felt a violent warning pulse through his entire body, like invisible needles stabbing into his spine.
Danger.
Without hesitation, he reacted.
"Starshatter Blink."
The moment the spell left his lips, Gryffindor's entire body exploded into countless fragments of golden starlight.
Slytherin's attack tore harmlessly through empty space.
A second later, the scattered starlight rapidly gathered elsewhere in the room before reforming into Gryffindor's figure completely intact.
Slytherin narrowed his eyes.
"As expected of you," he said coldly. "That ridiculous displacement spell of yours remains as annoying as ever."
Gryffindor didn't respond immediately.
Instead, he stared at Slytherin with visible pain in his eyes.
Because even now, he still struggled to believe Salazar had genuinely attacked him.
At first, Gryffindor even suspected dark magic or possession. Quietly, he cast a detection spell across Slytherin's body.
The result chilled him.
Nothing was controlling Salazar.
This was entirely his own choice.
Finally, Gryffindor spoke.
"Why?"
His voice sounded strained.
Slytherin looked away briefly.
Obviously, he could never admit the real reason.
He absolutely could not tell Gryffindor he had become irrationally jealous watching him spend time around Ravenclaw.
That would make him sound completely insane.
So instead, Slytherin chose another excuse.
"We've known each other for years," he said calmly. "We studied countless spells together. Sparred together. Fought side by side."
His eyes sharpened.
"And yet we've never truly fought."
Slytherin slowly raised his wand.
"This room is special. No matter what happens here tonight, nobody outside will know."
Then a dangerous smile appeared on his face.
"So tell me, Godric…"
"Don't you want a real duel?"
"The greatest duelling wizard of this era versus his destined rival."
The atmosphere instantly became suffocating.
Slytherin watched Gryffindor carefully without relaxing even slightly.
Because unlike most people, he fully understood how terrifying Godric Gryffindor truly was.
Wizards generally specialised in devastating ranged magic while remaining physically fragile.
Gryffindor completely shattered that logic.
Not only was he overwhelmingly powerful at long range—
He was even more terrifying up close.
No wizard alive could defeat Gryffindor in close combat.
Nobody.
Slytherin had calculated the odds countless times already.
At long distance?
Their chances were roughly equal.
But if Gryffindor closed the gap—
Total defeat became almost guaranteed.
Meanwhile, Gryffindor's expression gradually shifted.
Despite everything…
Part of him truly wanted this duel.
Salazar Slytherin was the only wizard of their generation whom Gryffindor fully recognised as his equal.
His rival.
His closest companion.
Perhaps even more than that.
Gryffindor had always wanted to fight him seriously at least once.
The problem was fear.
Not fear of losing.
Fear of hurting Salazar.
If either of them died during a genuine battle, Gryffindor knew he would never forgive himself.
That was why he had always restrained himself.
But now…
The decision no longer belonged solely to him.
Without further warning, Slytherin moved first again.
He clasped both hands together before thrusting them outward sharply.
"Dominion of Shadows."
Instantly, countless pitch-black shadow constructs erupted toward Gryffindor like living darkness.
The spell looked horrifying.
Logan watched nearby completely stunned.
This was legendary-level magic.
Every movement.
Every reaction.
Every spell.
Even their wandless casting alone felt absurdly overwhelming.
And the spells themselves were unlike anything Logan had ever seen before.
This memory fragment had suddenly transformed into the greatest magical spectacle imaginable.
The shadows devoured Gryffindor entirely within seconds.
Darkness swallowed him whole.
But Slytherin showed no satisfaction whatsoever.
Because he knew perfectly well—
Godric Gryffindor would never fall so easily.
Then suddenly—
BOOM.
A dazzling golden explosion erupted from inside the darkness.
The shadows were obliterated instantly.
A terrifying magical pressure flooded the entire room, cracking the floor beneath their feet.
The golden light continued condensing rapidly until it formed the shape of an enormous lion's head surrounding Gryffindor's body.
The lion roared silently.
Slytherin's expression darkened immediately.
"What exactly are you implying?"
His voice became dangerously cold.
"That spell was created by both of us."
The atmosphere trembled violently around him.
"Do you think I can't use it too?"
"Or do you simply believe you can defeat me effortlessly?"
Inside the golden lion aura, Gryffindor looked genuinely confused.
"What nonsense are you talking about?"
He pointed toward the lion construct surrounding him.
"We created this spell together!"
Then he smiled naturally.
"I just wanted to remind you of our bond."
Unfortunately…
Slytherin interpreted those words in the absolute worst possible way.
In his mind, Gryffindor was intentionally holding back.
Treating him gently.
Refusing to take him seriously.
The misunderstanding instantly detonated.
"So that's it," Slytherin said softly.
"You believe you could kill me whenever you wished."
His eyes gradually turned red with fury.
Gryffindor immediately panicked.
"That's not what I meant—"
"Enough."
Slytherin's voice echoed coldly throughout the room.
"If you insist on using that spell against me…"
Then overwhelming magical power exploded outward from his body.
"I'll show you exactly how painful defeat feels."
The darkness around Slytherin erupted violently.
At the same time, Gryffindor's expression finally became serious too.
Both legendary founders raised their magic simultaneously.
Then—
Two voices rang out together.
"Lionheart Dominion."
"Serpent Sovereign."
The world itself seemed to tremble.
