Chapter 10 - Awakening & The Next Move

"The moment you choose yourself…

You stop being weak in someone else's story."

🌅 A Slow Awakening

The world returned to Aanya in fragments.

A faint beeping sound.

The smell of antiseptic.

A dull ache spreading through her body. Her eyelids fluttered. Slowly… painfully… she opened her eyes. Everything felt heavy. But she was awake.

The first thing she saw—

Was him. Riaan.

Sitting beside her bed.

His eyes tired. Red. Sleepless.

The moment he noticed her movement—

He stood up instantly.

"Aanya…?"

Relief flooded his voice.

"You're awake… thank God…"

She looked at him.

Quietly.

Without expression.

No anger.

No softness.

Just… distance.

"Are you in pain?" he asked quickly.

"Should I call the doctor? Do you need water?" He reached out—

But she moved her hand away. Slowly.

Deliberately.

That small movement— Hit harder than any words.

"Don't," she said softly. Her voice was weak.

But clear. Riaan froze.

"I don't want your care."

Silence filled the room. His chest tightened.

"Aanya, I—"

"I don't want to live with you."

The words fell like a final decision. Not emotional. Not dramatic. Just… final.

Riaan stepped back slightly. As if something inside him had been pushed.

"What do you mean?" he asked, his voice low.

Aanya closed her eyes for a second. Gathering strength.

"I mean… I'm done."

Her voice trembled now— But not with weakness. With truth.

"You don't trust me."

"You don't respect me."

"You don't even see me as a human."

Her eyes met his.

"So what am I doing in your life?"

Riaan had no answer. Not a single one.

Meanwhile – Meera

In another part of the city—

Meera sat comfortably in a café. Calm. Confident. Unbothered.

Her phone rested on the table. A message appeared.

"She's awake." Meera smiled. Slowly. Dangerously.

"Perfect," she whispered.

She leaned back, thinking.

If she leaves… I win.

But something else crossed her mind.

Or… I can make sure she leaves forever.

Her eyes darkened slightly.

Meera picked up her phone.

Dialed a number.

"Yes," she said calmly.

"I need you to do something."

A pause.

"Make it look real."

Riaan stood near the window. Silent.

Broken in a way he didn't understand. Behind him— Aanya turned her face away.

Choosing distance. Choosing herself.

Two decisions had been made.

Aanya— To leave. Riaan—

To not understand why it hurt so much.

And Meera— To make sure this story…

Ends her way.
