Chapter 13 - The Truth Awakens

"Sometimes you don't fight to stay…

You fight to leave with your truth intact."

Morning light entered softly through the hospital window. Aanya stood near it, her fingers lightly gripping the edge of the curtain. Her body was still weak. But her eyes— Were not the same anymore. They carried something new Purpose.

I won't stay like this anymore. Her heart whispered quietly—I will prove myself… And then I'll leave. Not for revenge. Not for anger. But for herself.

The door opened behind her.

She didn't need to turn. She knew. Riaan.

He stood there for a moment, just watching her. There was something unfamiliar in his eyes now. Not anger. Not hatred. But… hesitation.

"How are you feeling?" he asked softly.

Aanya didn't turn.

"I'm fine." Her voice was calm. Too calm.

Riaan stepped closer. "Aanya…" He paused. As if searching for words.

"I… need to know something."

She finally turned.

Their eyes met. And for a moment— Everything between them stood still.

"What is the truth?" he asked. Not angrily. Not accusingly. But… almost desperately.

Aanya looked at him. Long. Deep.

As if trying to see if he was ready to hear it.

"If I tell you," she said slowly,

"will you believe me?" Silence. Riaan couldn't answer. And that— Was answer enough.

A faint, broken smile appeared on her lips.

"That's the problem, Riaan," she whispered.

"You never wanted the truth."

"You only wanted someone to blame."

Her words hit him harder than anything.

Because deep inside—He knew she was right.

For a few seconds—Neither of them spoke. No anger. No shouting. Just… pain. Shared. Unspoken.

"I loved my dreams," she said suddenly.

Riaan looked at her.

"I wanted to become something… stand on my own… make my father proud."

Her voice softened.

"But everything stopped." She didn't explain how. Didn't reveal everything. But her eyes— Told enough.

Riaan swallowed hard. For the first time— He didn't see her as someone weak. He saw her as someone… Who had lost too much.

"I'll prove it," Aanya said firmly.

Her voice steady. Clear.

"I'll prove I didn't do anything." A pause.

"And after that…"

Her eyes met his again.

"I'll leave."

💔 The Words That Shook Him Leave.

The word echoed in his mind. Loud. Unsettling. Unexpected.

"You can't just—" he started. But stopped.

Because for the first time— He didn't have the right to stop her.

🕷️ Meanwhile – Meera

Meera stood near the balcony, her phone in her hand. Listening. Watching. Waiting.

Her source had told her everything.

Aanya's plan. Riaan's confusion. She smiled slowly.

"So you want to prove yourself…" she whispered. Her eyes darkened.

"Let's see how far you go."

Meera picked up her phone. Typed a message.

"Everything is ready." Then she added—

"Make sure she doesn't win."

Back in the hospital room—Aanya stood alone again. But this time— She wasn't broken. She wasn't weak. She was… ready. Ready to fight. Ready to prove. Ready to walk away— With her truth. And behind her— Riaan stood silently. Watching her. Realizing—That somewhere along the way…

He had started losing something far more important than his anger.
