Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: The Sisters

Chapter 10: The Sisters

Mom's words were still floating in my head: "I'm sure you'll find someone special very soon."

It wasn't only Maya who appeared in my childhood memories. Back then, when I was a kid running through the streets of the town, I liked almost everything I saw. Maya was the most beautiful, yes, but so was Mom with her smile that lit up everything, and other girls in the village: the baker's daughter with her blonde braids, the neighbor next door who always gave me candies… there were many. Small innocent crushes that now, at nineteen, made me smile with nostalgia.

The conversation kept flowing. We talked about everything and nothing, like when I was little and sat on Mom's lap while she told me stories. I felt a wave of nostalgia tightening in my chest. Everything was still the same and yet it had changed so much.

Mom smiled with that sweetness only she had, loving and soft, and affectionately ruffled my hair.

"I still can't believe you're really here…" she whispered, as if she feared I would disappear if she spoke any louder.

I smiled, excited and thrilled.

"When are Sophia and Ava getting here?" I asked, unable to hide the anticipation in my voice.

"They could arrive any minute, my darling. In fact…"

Right at that moment the front door opened with a sharp bang.

Two voices called out at the same time:

"Mom!" shouted one, loud and bossy, with a tone that accepted no arguments.

"Mom, we're home!" said the other, softer and more melodic, almost like a sweet complaint.

Hearing them made a knot of nerves and excitement tighten in my stomach. My heart was beating so hard it felt like it was going to jump out.

Two figures entered the hallway, their faces marked by annoyance.

The one in the middle was a stunning young woman, beautiful in a way that took your breath away. Her almost orange-brown hair fell straight and long down to the middle of her back, with a few rebellious strands covering part of her face, giving her a mysterious and slightly arrogant air. She was the taller of the two, though she still had a long way to go to reach me. Her intense, sharp green eyes contrasted brutally with her warm hair. Her full lips were pressed into a line of displeasure, and her expression was exactly the one I remembered: that mix of superiority and annoyance she always had when things didn't go her way.

'Sophia…' I thought immediately. Two years older than me, the oldest after Lila.

I was already used to that face. Seeing her again brought an automatic smile to my lips. She had always been like that: the one who got what she wanted no matter what. She threw epic tantrums when something didn't please her, but she knew exactly how to use her angel face in front of Mom and Dad to get her way. I remembered perfectly how she behaved like the perfect little girl when she wanted a gift or something new.

'She's turned into a full woman…'

It wasn't just Lila who had changed drastically. Sophia had too. I couldn't help but let my gaze drop. Her voluptuous curves were impossible to ignore: the tight t-shirt barely contained her front, two large, firm breasts that stood out with every breath. Her wide, round hips completed an explosive body, the kind that was hard to look away from. She surprised me more than Lila, because before she hadn't seemed so feminine. Now she was a girl with a body that caught anyone's attention.

But she was my sister. That made it easier… or at least I tried to convince myself of that.

My attention then shifted to the other girl walking beside her. She contrasted completely with Sophia. She looked innocent and cute, almost as if she still had something of a little girl in her eyes. Her silver hair fell in soft waves around her face, and her large, expressive eyes were a bright, clear blue that radiated tenderness. She was adorable in a way that made you want to protect her.

'Ava…' I thought, and a warmth spread through my chest as I recognized her.

Only a year younger than me. Her face looked similar, but her body was already that of a woman. I felt a little strange noticing the pair of voluptuous breasts that swayed gently under her t-shirt. She was wearing a short pleated skirt that showed off her thick, soft thighs, and all her clothes seemed a bit cute, as if she still chose outfits that made her look younger and more adorable.

The memories hit me all at once. I looked at everyone present — Mom, Lila, Maya, Sophia, and Ava — and tears came to my eyes before I could stop them. We were together again. All of us. Mom must have thought the same, because her expression turned melancholic, with a soft smile and bright eyes.

I was within their line of sight, but they still hadn't noticed me. They were absorbed in their own thing, arguing as always.

It seemed Ava didn't want to do what Sophia was asking. Sophia slammed the door shut with a loud sound that echoed through the house. Ava answered immediately, with that sweet but stubborn voice:

"I'm not going to do what you want, Sophia. Stop bossing me around!"

Sophia got even more annoyed, crossing her arms and frowning.

I couldn't help it. I thought that they definitely were still the same as always and let out a low laugh.

The sound made them turn their heads at the same time. Their expressions changed from confusion to total surprise. Sophia raised an eyebrow in annoyance, Ava opened her eyes wide with innocence.

I smiled and raised my hand in a shy greeting.

"Hi…"

Mom stood up from the sofa with a huge smile and said:

"Have you already forgotten? Look…"

She was interrupted by a joint scream that startled me and hurt my ears:

"BIG BROTHER!!"

"BROTHER!!"
