Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: The Truth Unfolds

Morning came, but it didn't feel like a new day.

It felt like the continuation of a nightmare.

I stared at my phone.

The messages were still there.

Cold. Threatening. Real.

"This is your last warning."

But instead of fear…

I felt something else.

Clarity.

Whoever sent those messages—

They were hiding something.

And that meant the truth was bigger than I imagined.

I got out of bed with one decision in mind.

I wasn't stopping.

If my parents wouldn't tell me everything…

I would find it myself.

I went straight to the study room.

This time—

I didn't hesitate.

The drawer.

The key.

The same routine.

Click.

I opened it again.

The photograph.

The adoption paper.

But this time—

I searched deeper.

Under the papers.

Behind the folder.

And then—

I found it.

A thin file.

Hidden beneath everything else.

My hands trembled as I opened it.

Inside—

New documents.

Old records.

Newspaper clippings.

My breath stopped.

A headline caught my eye.

"Woman Accused in Financial Fraud Case Goes Missing"

Below it—

A photo.

My heart dropped.

It was her.

Nusrat.

My real mother.

"No…" I whispered.

My eyes moved quickly across the article.

"Nusrat Rahman, suspected in a major fraud case involving a large sum of money, disappeared under mysterious circumstances…"

My hands started shaking uncontrollably.

This couldn't be true.

The woman who looked for me…

The woman who loved me…

Was being accused of a crime?

I flipped to another paper.

More details.

More accusations.

But something felt wrong.

The dates.

The timeline.

It didn't match what my father said.

"She was in danger."

Not guilty.

Not a criminal.

In danger.

I looked deeper into the file.

And then—

I found the final document.

A report.

Official.

Stamped.

My heart pounded as I read it.

"Case Status: Unresolved."

Unresolved.

Which meant—

No proof.

No conclusion.

No truth.

I looked back at the photograph of Nusrat.

Her eyes.

They didn't look like a criminal's.

They looked…

Afraid.

Suddenly—

Everything started to connect.

The diary.

The warnings.

The lies.

What if…

She wasn't the criminal?

What if she was being framed?

My breath quickened.

And if that was true—

Then the danger she was in…

Was real.

And maybe—

Still active.

A sudden thought hit me.

If someone was willing to threaten me now—

Then this wasn't over.

Not even close.

I quickly gathered the papers, my mind racing.

I needed answers.

Real ones.

And there was only one place left to go.

Back to that house.

Back to the woman who knew Nusrat.

Because now—

This wasn't just about my past.

It was about uncovering the truth that someone was still trying to hide.

And I was done being afraid.
