Chapter 12 - chapter 12

Milena POV:

I woke up slowly, finding myself in someone else's bed.

This wasn't the room I had been in before.

Panic clawed at my chest. I could have been dead if not for that old woman and Dennis they saved me. Thanks to them, I was alive.

But who were they? They didn't look ordinary.

Dennis came in quietly.

"Hey, Mel," he said softly. "I'm… sorry for abducting you."

I froze. "It's… okay. I understand. Thomas sold me out…"

Dennis shook his head. "No, Mel. Thomas didn't sell you out. You were kidnapped… by your mate. Our Alpha."

"Mate?" The word echoed in my mind. Blackout.

"What do you mean by that? And Alpha… is he a king? Or in your language, is 'alpha'?" I stammered.

"No, Mel," Dennis said patiently. "We are werewolves. Alpha Mason is the king of all wolves."

I stared at him in disbelief. Werewolves? King of all wolves? My mind couldn't process it.

Then my stomach growled. Warm, insistent, glowing faintly as if demanding attention.

Dennis raised an eyebrow. "Looks like you need food first. I'll order something for you."

When the food arrived, I couldn't believe my eyes. Plates piled high with warm, colorful dishes food I hadn't eaten in years. Not since Thomas and Lina's house.

I picked up my fork and hesitated, then took a bite.

And another.

And another.

By the time I looked up, every plate was empty. I had eaten to my fill.

For the first time in years, I felt satisfied. Not just my stomach… my soul.

Even after eating, boredom crept in. I had rested, eaten, and done nothing else. I needed to move. To breathe.

I stepped outside, wandering without a destination. The sunlight felt different, warmer, sharper. The scents of earth and grass were stronger than I remembered. Colors were brighter, alive.

Before I realized it, I had wandered into a dense forest.

The air grew cooler, heavier with the scent of pine and earth. Then I saw movement in a clearing.

A human figure appeared. But then… impossibly, the person began to change. Skin stretched, bones reshaped, fur erupted, muscles expanded. In moments, the human had transformed into a massive wolf.

I stumbled backward, my heart pounding in terror and awe.

I couldn't move. I couldn't speak. My mind couldn't process the impossible.

And then… darkness swallowed me.
