2nd Quarter

11-3 current score
"And the Longhorns, after a tough 3-minute series, got their first points of the game thanks to the field goal from the 25-yard line," Shea said with the microphone in hand towards the spectators and viewers who were tuning back into the game.
"I believe so, Shea. The Longhorns could not fully overcome the Tigers' defense, leaving them with a kick as a last resort to not be left without points in the game," added Randy without leaving the narration on the screen silent for long.
While they narrated that, the last play of the game was shown on the screens while the Tigers' offense entered the stadium again, ready to return to the game.
In the play, one could see Damion Hobbs again receiving the ball and then quickly throwing it towards Gonzales, who had run towards the corner of the field ready to receive the ball.
However, Gary Joseph did not waste time noticing that most of the yards the Longhorns were obtaining were thanks to Gonzales, so he made special arrangements for Isaiah Brown to pay special attention to his marking, causing Gonzales to not even be able to touch the ball in that opportunity, resulting in an incomplete pass on 3rd down.
After that, on 4th down seeing the distance, the Longhorns' special team entered the field ready for a field goal, thus adding the 3 points to stay in the game.
While the spectators were watching the screen where the last plays were being replayed, the Tigers' offensive team was ready to enter the field, while Coach Joseph took Wyatt aside and gave him some last quick instructions.
With his helmet on his head, Wyatt paid special attention to the words the coach was directing at him, who covered his mouth with his play-sheet.
"This time play long series," the coach began emphasizing the first part of his instructions. "Burn all the time you can, even on 4th downs just take your time to score," the coach finished saying expecting Wyatt to understand, who simply raised his thumb in a sign of acceptance.
"Don't worry coach, I know what needs to be done," Wyatt finished saying to adjust his helmet and join his teammates who formed a huddle to receive the orders.
"Alright guys, long series," Wyatt said once he was in the center and captured the attention of all his teammates waiting for his instructions.
"I formation, we will use the I formation," Wyatt emphasized knowing that was the best formation for these cases.
Once that was said, he directed his gaze towards Adam and Rodney, the two running backs who would be crucial for this play.
"Adam, Rod, ready?" Wyatt asked towards both, who simply gave signs of affirmation, with Adam being the most enthusiastic by hitting his chest.
"Don't worry Cap, leave it to me," Adam said with confidence, ready for action.
"Don't forget about me," Rodney quickly added, also prepared for the next play.
Clapping his hands, Wyatt and the rest of the team broke the huddle to get into position, ready to start the play at the same time as the Longhorns' defensive team got into position.
"Ready, hot," without wasting time Wyatt quickly called for the ball so that, once it was in his hands, he ran back while quickly passing the ball to Adam.
As soon as the ball was in Adam's hands, he leaned his body forward while shrinking his whole body and charged towards the line of scrimmage, which was loaded with players.
The collision was brutal. Once Adam managed to cross the space his team's center had opened for him, he immediately collided with the Longhorns' players who quickly stood in front of him trying to stop him and make him fall to the ground.
But Adam, like a runaway bull, did not give up and kept charging forward until he was finally brought down after a 3-yard run and after 3 Longhorns' linebackers were able to stop his momentum.
"1st and 3," the referee shouted towards the crowd ending the Tigers' first offensive series, causing the Tigers to need 7 more yards for a new opportunity.
Standing up again with the ball in his hands, Adam did not waste time and passed it to Wyatt, who passed it to the center and they got back into position to play the second down.
On this opportunity the Longhorns thought the Tigers would try the same play as on 1st down seeing Wyatt drop back and pass next to Adam who was charging against the line of scrimmage again.
More prepared this time, the Longhorns quickly managed to capture Adam before he could add more yards, but once captured they saw with horror how that had been a fake and that he did not have the ball.
"There!" shouted one of the cornerbacks who saw how the other Tigers' runner had the ball and cut through the corner to be able to pass outside the line of scrimmage.
Seeing that, the cornerback wasted no time and ran quickly towards the runner knowing he was the closest player and that his teammates would not arrive in time, so he quickly ran as soon as his legs allowed him towards the runner who was running towards his flank.
Seeing that a Longhorns' player was heading in his direction, seeing that he had not fallen for the fake, Rodney crouched and squeezed the ball harder against his chest ready for the collision that was about to happen.
"Pum," was the sound of both bodies colliding, with Rodney having the slight advantage by having more momentum in his run, but the cornerback quickly composed himself and with his whole body pushed Rodney towards the corner and he went out of bounds adding another 2 yards to his team.
"And Rodney Anderson adds another 2 yards to the Tigers' team," Randy said under the shout of the crowd and the cheerleaders who were doing their routine cheering the public even more.
"The Tigers' new formation seems to be focusing on burning as much time as possible with long series in the ground game," Shea gave his analysis seeing the Tigers' last 2 opportunities and how they advanced few yards compared to the first quarter.
"And there we must highlight the 2 Tigers' runners, Adam Taylor and Rodney Anderson; one known for his strength and power while the other has greater speed," Randy praised both runners who had added yards in the last 2 opportunities.
While that was happening, the Longhorns' coach, seeing how the Tigers were making long plays causing the time to burn quickly, started talking to his defensive coordinator about possible countermeasures.
"They are looking to burn time on purpose," was the first thing the Longhorns' coach said watching the game closely.
"They are focusing on the ground game avoiding long passes that add yards," added his defensive coordinator while also having the playbook in hand and looking for a solution.
"We have to Blitz," the coach said with decision seeing the game and believing that a faster and more aggressive defense could be the solution, even potentially capturing the quarterback causing them to waste an opportunity on the Tigers' 43-yard line.
Nodding, the defensive coordinator stood on the edge and signaled to his team's players, who nodded in confirmation and got into formation.
On 3rd down Wyatt saw how this time the players on the Longhorns' side ran quickly and with force at the line of scrimmage, causing the line of scrimmage to collapse faster than the last 2 opportunities.
Seeing that happen, Wyatt quickly tucked the ball against him and started running to the right seeing the pocket collapse and the Longhorns' players break through his defensive line.
Running as fast as he could towards the right flank, Wyatt saw the Longhorns' players heading in his direction like a pack of rabid dogs, while Wyatt was quickly followed by Adam who, seeing the Longhorns' players heading towards him, went ahead and intercepted the cornerback closest to Wyatt while he passed by his side to be able to add yards.
Thanks to Adam's help, Wyatt crossed the first of his obstacles without problems while he kept running and the Longhorns' players kept running towards him; seeing that, Wyatt extended his hand to push the player in front of him and keep trying to run until he was surrounded by rival players.
Wyatt fell to the ground before the wave of players who ran to capture him while he firmly held the ball against his chest protecting it and falling hard to the ground.
"Uff," Wyatt groaned in pain hitting the ground and being buried by the Longhorns' players after a journey of almost 4 yards, needing only one more yard to be able to get a new opportunity.
With the players standing up slowly, Wyatt was finally released and stood up while shaking his uniform which had ended up stained after that last capture he had suffered.
His gaze rested on the scoreboard that appeared and on the remaining time left in the 2nd quarter. 5:00 minutes remaining.
Seeing how they had wasted 4 full minutes, Wyatt turned immediately towards his side where his team was, where he saw Coach Joseph giving him a signal indicating the offense to return to normal.
Nodding and with a smile, Wyatt immediately huddled his teammates on offense again, ready for the game to return to the rhythm each was used to.
"4th and 1 for the Tigers," Randy commented. "It seems that now the Tigers are looking to burn the time remaining in the 2nd quarter to get on the Longhorns' nerves."
While saying that, Wyatt finished giving orders to his teammates while they got into position and ready for their fourth and last opportunity.
With the ball in his hands, Wyatt dropped back and passed the ball to Adam who, upon taking the ball, ran again adding the necessary yards for a new opportunity before he was tackled by the Longhorns' team.
"1st and 10," the referee shouted towards everyone making the Tigers gain another opportunity.
At the 45-yard line, Wyatt received the ball again but this time quickly raised it in front of his shoulder and began to quickly scan the entire field in search of a passing lane.
Quickly and detecting that Fulks, his wide receiver, had broken free, he quickly threw the ball with force which began to spin in a perfect spiral heading directly towards Fulks.
Seeing the ball heading towards him, Fulks immediately extended his hands ready to receive the ball to then start running as much as he could until the team's safety managed to capture him.
Once he fell to the ground it was seen how he clearly fell at the 20-yard line after a 15-yard pass and a 5-yard run.
"And it seems the Tigers returned to their normal rhythm after that brilliant pass from Sterling," Randy said while Shea cut him off: "And that shows how versatile Sterling is in his game, being able to play a slow and paused game to a fast offense and long passes," Shea finished saying to the crowd.
Running towards where Fulks was, he was immediately bombarded by his teammates who did not stop giving him pats on the back in sign of congratulation while the game continued its course.
Seeing that he was only 20 yards from the end zone and that the clock time was running out, Wyatt decided to end it all at once.
"Ready, hot," Wyatt ordered to, at the moment of receiving the ball, run towards the end zone being immediately followed by the Longhorns' players.
Seeing how the tide of players tilted towards his side, he immediately released the ball to the receiver on the other side who ran the remaining way without problems, scoring another touchdown for the team.
