I quickly wrapped up everything I was doing at the company and rushed home.
The entire drive back, my mind refused to stay still.
Victoria was dead.
Elena had only hours left.

By the time I arrived at the mansion, my heart was pounding hard against my chest.
I rushed straight into Luca's room and started picking some of his clothes hurriedly, throwing shirts, pajamas, and toys into a travel bag.

"Mommy?" he called softly. "Why are you packing my dinosaur pajamas too?"
I forced a smile onto my face.
"Because we're going on a trip," I replied gently as I zipped open another bag. "And it's gonna be fun. I'm sure you'll like it."
Luca's eyes lit up instantly.
"Yes Mom, I love it already!"
His excitement made my chest tighten painfully.
He had no idea we were running.
"Can Daddy come too?" Luca asked innocently.
