Sairis's POV
Sairis searched for something reasonable to say that did not expose his pregnant self. "I just," he paused, "I would rather look at them from a little distance. They are better appreciated that way." He smiled. "It is a preference."
Loreen looked at him with the expression of a man who was not entirely convinced but had decided to accept the answer anyway. "If you say so," he said slowly.
Sairis nodded and turned his attention firmly to the table in front of him.
"You did not have to do any of this," he said, looking at the food spread out before him.
His stomach, whatever it thought about jasmine, had strong opinions about the food and all of them were positive.
Loreen looked up from pouring the wine. "I know that your first instinct when someone shows you care is to find a reason why they should not have bothered," he said.
Then set the wine in front of Sairis and looked at him directly. "But I did have to do this. It is long overdue."
