Chapter 5 - Chapter 5: A Burned House

A week passed in the blink of an eye, and my sadness worsened. Gloom filled the house, and I felt a desire to commit suicide, but I did not give that thought time to settle in my mind. During that week, my brother Arthur kept urging me again and again to change the atmosphere, but I refused every time.

"Hey, Edward, I brought you food. I'm coming in," Arthur knocked on the door while calling me, but I did not answer him.

Arthur opened the door, and when he entered, he found the room very dark, with trash everywhere and some plates of food he had brought before. He noticed that not much of it had been eaten. Then he looked at me and found me under the blanket, wrapped so deeply that no one could see me.

"Sigh… Edward, it's been a week and you're like this. I know it is painful to see someone dear to you die, but this is the way of life. One day, we will all die—it's only a matter of time. So you must face reality and accept it despite the harsh truth. Let me ask you something: would our sister Olivia want to see you in this miserable state? Of course not! So our role as the living is to remember the dead and move forward. You must look to the future for a brighter path, and for our late sister Olivia… sigh… think about it deeply, and if you feel better, come down and join me so we can go for a walk in the park," Arthur comforted me with sympathy.

After Arthur left and closed the door, I removed the blanket from my face and began to think about what he said to me, especially that sentence where he mentioned Olivia and said, "Would our sister Olivia want to see you in this miserable state?"

Time passed, and night came. Memories of her in our childhood began to flash in my eyes, and I started seeing various memories:

"Edward, Edward, what are you drawing?"

"Waaah, Mom, Edward hit me!"

"Hey! Do you have all that money as your savings?"

"Look, look! I stole these snacks from my mother. Don't you dare tell her!"

The memories flashed quickly in my eyes. I recalled some beautiful moments, and I began to see the illusion of a little girl moving around. A smile appeared on my face, and I changed my clothes and went out to meet my brother. While going down the stairs, I stumbled and fell.

"There you are, getting your liveliness back again. Look at yourself, how full of liveliness you are," my brother said while sitting in the living room on the sofa, reading a book.

I looked at him with embarrassment.

"It's okay, no need to talk. I know you are going through a difficult time, and it's good that you gathered your courage to come out of that prison upstairs. So come on, let's go. What are you waiting for?" my brother continued with understanding.

I nodded toward him and followed him, and we headed to the park.

After a while, when we arrived at the park, I said to my brother, "Finally, I feel a bit refreshed."

My brother did not say anything and smiled.

"It's time to go back now. It's good that you're feeling a bit better," my brother said, feeling somewhat happy.

On our way back, my brother and I saw smoke rising heavily into the sky.

"That's smoke! It looks like a fire," my brother said, feeling a bit uneasy.

"This!!! This!!! It's near our house!!!!!" I shouted in shock after seeing the smoke near our area.

"Quick, follow me!!" my brother said as he had already started running.

We rushed toward the house, running. As we got closer, the doubt in our hearts increased, and our breathing became heavier from running. When we arrived, our eyes witnessed a sea of flames surrounding our house!!!
