Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 – Carrying a Princess Is Better Than Carrying Someone on Your Back

The next day, the Yorozuya disappeared.

Duran used his strange spatial technology to store the entire building inside a capsule.

Meanwhile, Teresa changed back into her Claymore armor, clearly preparing to return to the battlefield.

"Come on, let me carry you!"

Before Teresa could answer, Duran lifted her into a princess carry.

Teresa said nothing.

She simply buried her face slightly.

"Flying Technique!"

Duran soared into the sky while holding her.

It was their first time experiencing something like this.

Although Duran often told others that he and Teresa were married—and Teresa never denied it—the two had never really behaved intimately.

This time, Duran finally gathered the courage to act.

And judging by Teresa's reaction…

Their relationship might finally progress.

Duran's imagination began wandering.

He deliberately flew very slowly.

Opportunities like this didn't come often.

Teresa didn't complain.

After flying west for about an hour, Duran spoke.

"Looks like we're entering Area 47's territory."

"But wait… isn't the Western Abyssal One nearby? Why would the Organization let Rank 47 guard this area?"

Teresa rolled her eyes.

"Warriors are ranked by strength, but territories aren't assigned that way."

She explained:

"The mortality rate of Claymores is extremely high."

"In fact, the list of 47 warriors has never actually been full."

"When a warrior dies, the newly created warrior is assigned to the empty territory."

"So the strength of the Yoma in an area doesn't necessarily match the rank of the warrior stationed there."

"For example, even though I was Rank 1, the territory I inherited originally belonged to Rank 21."

"I see," Duran said like a student learning something new.

But soon another question popped up.

"If territories aren't tied to rank… how do you know Rank 47 is guarding the Western Abyssal One's area?"

Teresa looked at him as if he were hopeless.

"Did you forget that Sophia is also a warrior?"

Duran froze.

To be fair, since taking Sophia in, most of the tasks he assigned her were things like cleaning or running errands.

He had never really asked her about Claymore matters.

"So Sophia told you?" Duran asked awkwardly.

Even though Teresa had left the Organization, Duran knew she still cared deeply about the Claymores.

During their travels on other continents—places without Yoma or Claymores—she had often thought about freeing Claymores from their tragic fate.

However, she had never told Duran that directly.

If she had said she wanted to destroy the Organization, Duran would have gladly fired a Kamehameha at its headquarters.

But Teresa knew something important.

The Yoma continent was only a small part of a much larger Empire.

The Organization was likely just a secret research facility of that Empire.

If the Organization disappeared, the Empire might retaliate against the continent.

The Empire was powerful.

To Duran, destroying it would be easy.

But Teresa believed it was an unstoppable force.

Even if Duran destroyed the Empire, it wouldn't necessarily help the people of the planet.

And as for leading a revolution and guiding humanity into a new era—

Duran had zero interest in doing that.

Before lunchtime, Duran and Teresa had already reached Clare.

"Duran! Teresa! What are you doing here?" Clare asked in surprise.

"Your mom was worried about you," Duran said, putting Teresa down.

"So we flew here."

"What are you planning to eat for lunch?"

"Uh… beef stew!" Clare answered without thinking.

"Perfect."

Duran tossed a capsule.

"Then today we'll have beef stew!"

Clare suddenly felt like she had forgotten something important.

But somehow the conversation had been completely derailed.

Teresa held back her laughter as she entered the capsule house.

"It's been more than a year," she said.

"I actually missed this place."

"Sophia, what are you waiting for? Come inside."

Sophia had heard rumors about Duran's magical tools, but seeing the capsule technology firsthand still shocked her.

After the four of them finished eating, Clare suddenly remembered.

"Wait—why are you really here?"

"Because you're still a child," Duran said shamelessly.

"You shouldn't leave your parents."

"So Teresa and I came to find you."

Clare fell silent.

"So where are you going next?" Duran asked.

"If you don't have a destination…"

"I want to visit the Western Abyssal One."

"I've never seen a creature that stayed in a loli form for over a hundred years."

"I want to see her in person."

Clare stared at him speechlessly.

She had considered visiting the Western Abyssal One herself.

But she hadn't expected Duran to be this eager.

Teresa smiled.

"Stop talking about 'lolis' like that. You'll corrupt the child."

"Besides, even though the Abyssal Ones are no match for you…"

"That doesn't mean you should casually provoke them."

"I just want to take some photos," Duran said.

"I'm worried you'll accidentally kill them," Teresa replied.

The Abyssal Ones were actually part of the balance of power on the Yoma continent.

They were even secretly tolerated by the Empire.

Of course, the Abyssal Ones themselves didn't know that.

"After lunch, we'll head west," Duran said.

"Sophia, Clare—you both know where the Western Abyssal One's territory is, right?"

"Of course," Teresa said first.

"The Western Abyssal One was the first-generation Rank 1 female Claymore."

"When I was still in the Organization, my handler constantly warned me not to become 'another Western Abyssal One.'"

Sophia added:

"She has ruled the western region for hundreds of years."

"Every warrior assigned to the west is warned not to approach her territory."

"To avoid provoking her."

Duran nodded.

But he still had a question.

"If she's been hiding there all this time…"

"Why do humans still live in her territory?"

Teresa looked at him.

"What's the difference between an Abyssal One and a Yoma?"

Duran thought about it.

"The Abyssal One is stronger."

Teresa shook her head.

"That's how warriors see it."

"But to ordinary humans…"

"There's no difference."

"Being eaten by a Yoma or by an Abyssal One is the same."

"So some people choose to live in the Abyssal One's territory."

"At least then they know who will kill them."

Duran fell silent.

She was right.

For normal people, the difference meant nothing.

Whether they were livestock for Abyssal Ones or prey for Yoma—

The result was the same.

Suddenly Duran wasn't sure killing the Western Abyssal One would change anything.

But before they could reach her territory—

They encountered another group.

A Claymore subjugation team.

Not a team sent to hunt Teresa—

But one sent to hunt an Awakened Being.

Leading them was:

Rank 4 – Ophelia, the Blood-Stained Warrior.

Duran had watched the Claymore anime before coming to this world.

He knew Ophelia was basically a walking time bomb.

And now—

The two groups had suddenly met.
